Another update. Redone the hair to fix the skull issue (slightly). His head is supposed to be titling down slightly, but I don't think I captured that well. Oh well, moving on with the folds!

If it's tilted down slightly, you should be able to see the top of the lower lid- it just isn't red.

I know. Fixed it. After I redo the hair, I'll post another update. Hopefully it'll be an improvement over the last version...

The real problem here is that if you are looking at a face dead on (as you appear to be) the eyes should be halfway up the head. They're too low, but the easiest way to fix it will be to take off some of the hair.

Also you might want to get rid of the red outline on top of the lower eyelids- with real eyes you the only red bit would be the lacrimal caruncle in the inner corner of the eye, which is what I assume you're trying to illustrate.

Update #1

First Digital Coloring Wip Posted August 30th, 2011 in Art

After toying around with various coloring styles, I think my first real digital coloring job is coming out well done. I am becoming very proud of what I've done so far, but if you guys have any comments or criticism, let me know. Do keep in mind it is far from finished as I still have to clothe the body, work on the folds for the outfit, decide on what clothes to use, what brushes I'll need for the textures of said clothes, etc.

PS: I am beginning to realize it feels rather dark. I really don't want to have to redo it all over again...

First Real Attempt At Digital Hair Posted August 30th, 2011 in Art

Yeah, I am not exactly proud of this. I like how the right side turned out, but not the left. Can anyone provide me with tutorials for doing hair digitally in Photoshop? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks guys for the critiques. Decided to pick up Andrew Loomis' books and Riven Phoenix's How to Draw the Human Figure From Your Mind DVDs once again before I start trying to draw from my mind again. Also, thanks for the comments on my lines. Helps to know I am doing something right. :)

Ah, my bad. Truly sorry!

Here's the link to the Dumping Grounds page for the picture. Keep the critiques coming. Really need all the help I can get.

WIP

Hey.

I haven't drawn in over a year but I've recently been getting back into it and was wondering what you guys think of this so far. Right now, I'm considering fixing the hands because they feel too static for me, specifically his right hand. Also, may need some help getting those arms and legs right. The torso might also need work, but I can't tell. I need fresh eyes.

I apologize if it feels so static. I've love to be able to do gestures and stuff, but I am too slow and methodical, not to mention I am a bit of a perfectionist. Plus, I don't have the time to go through Riven Phoenix's How to Draw the Human Figure from your Mind series due to volunteer work, school, and looking for a paying job, though I have the time to go over Andrew Loomis' books and stuff, which I have found excellent so far.

All criticism is welcome. I appreciate constructive criticism, but if you must be harsh, so be it. I want to get back into art as I love creating characters and worlds as I want to be a writer. I also want this to be my first entry into a sketchbook so I can track my growth and improve.

The character's name is Serph Morris in a story I am writing called When The Wheel of Fate Is In God's Hands.

PS: A close friend of mine brought up a good point. The line variation is inconsistent. Will do my best to fix it once I correct the anatomy issues. Also, my roommate commented his pectorals looked like boobs and the waist is too thin. Looking for a way to correct this but I was wondering if you agree or not. Also, the legs look incredibly ugly to me, but I don't have my anatomy books on hand.
