Sorry, I always feel inclined to correct the grammar of people who are calling other people stupid. Although, I do agree with you. I pride myself on knowing practically nothing about celebrity/pop culture. I don't listen to any mainstream music, and of the bands I do like, I couldn't tell you anything about them, even the band member names. And being the programming director of a radio station, that is no easy task.

Close. My abridged plot.

There is a big company called Encom. One of the protagonists, a programmer named Flynn, used to work there, but got all his work stolen by the only human antagonist, Dillinger (who used Flynn's mad games to become the senior exec of Encom). The one thing Dillinger actually did himself was make a program called the Master Control Program (MCP). It is an AI which has become self aware and is trying to take over everything. There is a guy called Allen who is still a programmer at Encom, who has his own program called Tron (OMG THATS THE NAME OF THE MOVIE!). Tron is a security program which the MCP doesn't like.

Anyway, so Flynn keeps trying to hack the Encom computer to prove that Dillinger stole his games, but MCP won't let him. Sooo he sneaks into the Encom building to use one of their computers. Unfortunately he happens to use the computer thats right infront of a giant laser that takes things from real life and digitizes them. And when the MCP sees him hacking in, it turns on the laser and zaps Flynn into the computer system.

As it turns out, the inside of a computer system looks like freakin awesome scifi glow-y stuff, everybody has a frisbee thing and people look like the programs they have made. Also the MCP is using his evil skynet powers and either absorbing useful programs or sending crap ones down to play video games. Programs refer to real people as 'Users' and view them as gods or something, so basically once Flynn is inside the system he's pretty much a mixture between neo and jesus. Especially since he made all the games anyway.

He meets Tron, they do some hella sweet stuff with frisbees, and light cycles (the motor bike thingys) in order to try and bring down the big MCP. Can they do it? You'll have to watch and find out.

I'm pretty sure someone geekier can confirm, edit or add on to the information I have just placed in front of you.

At first, when I saw the trailer, I thought 'what? those light cycles are adhering to the laws of inertia??? thats not right.' But to be honest, despite the fact that the movie will inevidibly be nowhere near as good as the first one, ITS GONNA BE FREIKIN AWESOME ANYWAY! If you haven't gotten it already, I like tron a lot. And the idea of a sequal is sweeeeeeeeet.

Oh also, people saying a sex scene in the new tron. There was gonna be a sex-ish scene in the first one. Its in the dvd extras. I can't remember why they said they took it out, but it was nothing graphic. If i remember rightly they just like pressed buttons on eachother or something. So yeah, no deal.

For the last few years I've made it standard practice to put a password on all my flashes using 'Protect from import' ever since I had some stuff stolen.
Does anyone know how secure it actually is? If I put an 8 character password on, how long until someone can import my flash, and take my code/art/whatever? As in how hard would that be to break?

i miss splitscreen too. especially 4-player splitscreen. me and my bros bought a 360, and some extra controllers, so it would be nice to actually use them all at once.

about 10 years ago we used to all play 4-player goldeneye on a tv screen no bigger than my computer monitor, and it was great. now its either 2-player only, or online crap with wanky american kids who can't play and whose voices hurt my ears.

i've basically stopped playing new games, because if i want to bring some mates over to play, chances are half of them would have to watch one or two people playing at a time, and why the hell would anyone want to do that?

definitely staying motivated and keeping my momentum in order to get the thing finished. if id finished everything i think newgrounds would need about 5 more servers.

i tihnk my bro got a nes in the late 80s when i was 1 or 2 so it would probably have been a game on that, if not we had this way old computer which pre-dated any form of Windows, and there were some sweet ass games on that. If thats the case, california games would probably be the first game i ever played.

there is a preloader at the start. my preloader makes it look like its drawing stuff. ull know its done loading cause it says "play". yeah i probly should have written "loading" somewhere on there.

dont know if any of them are rare, but ive got a bunch of old NES games which i occasionally get out and play.

yeah i tihnk ill just roll with it the way it is. i might work out what frame its jumping to, and work out what byte number that equates to, then get it to goto based on the remaining bytes.

the movie is completely done, the preloader is just a single 650 frame movieclip with frame-by-frame animation inside. it doesnt contain any objects.

Well my part is done. The preloader is a bit screwed up, and i watermarked it for obvious reasons, but anyway you can see it here.

oh and its a movie, so nothing is being loaded from the library by actionscript.

you're right about me having a bunch of mc's and sounds in my library, but none of them have 'export in first frame' checked. In fact it is greyed out (ie, untickable). The other three (export for AS, export for runtime sharing, import for runtime sharing) are all tickable, but unticked. should i be making some adjustments here?

I've got a little movieclip on the first frame of my movie to act as a preloader. its instance name is preloadMovie

on the first frame I've got:

the problem is that when i simulate download, it goes white for a few seconds then jumps to part way through the movieclip, and acts normally from there. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
