I've had this happen several times. Waiting a day or two, then trying again seems to work for me. Clearing cache, switching browsers, or restarting my computer never did anything.

I'm not sure what did it, but I'm able to crop my images today. Yesterday I couldn't. I'm even using the same web browser (Chrome).
Just wait for it, maybe? I don't even know. This is weird.
