Either we're letting him go or some nearby nation is granting him asylum.

It's a matter of knowing where to look. There hasn't been a credible lead for years. And the Pakistani border with Afghanistan is huge. Plus, Pakistan doesn't let the US use its full power to find him, only a limited number of assets and methods.

Quite honestly, as a casual Internet surfer and forum regular, I see more atheists complaining about religion than all of those combined. And atheists are a much smaller portion of the population.

Don't pretend that religions people are the victims while the big bad atheists are attacking them.

I did not victimize religious people at all.

All groups, ALL OF THEM, have assholes, grow up and realize this.

Yes, both have cry babies, but that is not really the point is it?

But, it is commonly in your evolutionary interest to murder. For instance, the murder of sexual rivals is a tendancy of humans that is acknowledged in evolution. Moreover, the majority of tribes in prehistoric cultures were in a state of constant war with other tribes, with the vast majority of tribes being in a war at least once per year. In prehistoric tribal warfare, the deathtoll was nothing short of horrific, and the genocide of entire tribes was not uncommon. In Central America, in particular, the level of barbarity was atrocious, with tribes routinely slowly torturing enemy combatants to death as a part of their culture. Overall, peaceful societies were extremely rare, and almost all societies killed and engaged in warfare with frequency. In conclusion, I find it surprising you would turn to ancient civillizations and evolution to find a basis for morality, when in fact, the history of mankind shows unrelenting barbarity and inhumanity.

Topic: Being a good person

Posted: 06/27/07 02:25 AM

Forum: General

At 6/27/07 01:54 AM, CryogenChaos wrote: What makes someone a good person? Is it someone who abides by all of society's rules? How do you define what the rules are for being a good person?

Good does not really exist among men, but it is something to strive for. We are all rotten, but if we at least acknowledge our shortcomings and try to accomplish good, then we may be saved.

Let me try to explain. If a man robs a store, is he a bad person? What if the money was used to pay for life-saving surgery to save his son in the hospital? What does that make him?

You know what would be wrong? Judging this man would be wrong. Judge not lest you be judged also.

Let's take into consideration Heaven and Hell. Consider the man who robbed the store. Where does he go? Does his desire to save his son send him to Heaven, or does the robbery send him to Hell? What justify's our entry to Heaven or our damnation to Hell?

Not enough info is given. Either is possible. However, it is not really our place to make that call.

Many would answer God, but how can he decide? How can God decide what is and is not good? Does he look at what our intention in our heart is, or does he look at our actions and take those for face value? Unfortunately, this question can't be answered.

Our actions indicate where our heart is. Can someone that is truely righteous rob a store? Hard to say.

If there is a finite number of colors, then there exist two colors that do not have a color between them. However, I can mix these two colors to obtain a shade of color that is between them. therefore, it is not the case that there are a finite number of colors. Therefore, there is an infinite number of colors.

1.) incredibly good. I mean, you would want to see it again and again and created huge lines, like Jaws and It's A Wonderful Life

C'mon, like the Matrix doesn't meet that. According to your profile, you're 15, so you'd be maybe 7 or 8 when the Matrix was released. You can't appreciate how revolutionary and great it was at the time it was released. It doesn't stand out now because every action movie that followed it copied it.

2.) revolutionary for it's time. The Matrix didn't do anything besides introduce bullet time into the world, while a movie like Titanic, Platoon, or The Sixth Sense changed the way we saw an event or made films.

Most of the action movies that followed The Matrix copied a lot about it, music, camera angles, martial arts, and stuff.

3.) had a deeper meaning. A film like Citizen Kane is #1 because it makes you think, unlike today's movies. Fight Club is a movie; there's fighting, love, and that's it.

pfft, I'm just comparing it to the movies on there. It deserved a spot on there. In 50 years, I fully expect the Matrix to be in the top 10 or 20 when this generation of actors/directors dies and a new generation that has grown up with movies like the Matrix are doing the judging.

Most of the movies were crap from the 30's and 40's.

Where was Terminator? Heck, look at how the first Matrix movie revolutionized action movies in the past 10 years. Meh.

The original claim was that they were the only non-military flight allowed that day. If the restrictions regarding non-military flights were lifted before their departure, then obviously your original claim falls apart! Sheesh.

but when you consider the lives saved by deterrence and the possible legal funds saved by prosecuting more crimes, the cost of a death sentence just might be less overall. Plus, a lot of studies that claim it costs more are greatly exagerrated and contain logical fallacies.
