My idea is that anyone able to stand on their own two feet, and isn't harming anyone else in the process, should be able to. The US didn't want to lose money or land by letting the South go, so they used force to keep it. Think about it- if the Union had of let the South succeed, how would the world be different? Especially America? It would be way better. The Republican party would take over in the South, and everyone would be happy because there were no Democrats to ruin it or create fighting. Same in the North. When you decentralize, everyone's much happier. The country wouldn't have to be split over Iraq, because the Republican South would have went in and the Democratic North could stay out and be happy.

As a Christian, I see the meaning of life as taking as many people to Heaven with me as I can before I die.

In the South, the issues of slavery and the Civil War were completely separate issues. The South wanted to have their own country. In my mind, anyone who can support themselves should have their own country and make their own rules. The North didn't think they could survive without the south, but still wanted to have power over them. Abraham Lincoln was smart enough to know that the North couldn't win without huge casualties, so he didn't try to keep them. However, he was stubborn enough to refuse to clear his troops out of the South, and so the Confederacy had to clear them their selves. During the war, Abraham Lincoln used slavery and manipulated blacks to gain support for the war.

I'm from South Carolina. That's how I view it.

Except for we're not talking about slavery, we're talking about the Civil War. The Civil War was not some glorious rescue of the slaves by the North, it was the North refusing to give the South it's independence, and throwing in slaves as propaganda, because the population new the war shouldn't be happening.

Not if Lincoln thought twice about it, realized those CS would come back begging and let them have their independence. Or are you referring to Africans and Mexicans, because that'd be an underestimation of the CS sadism.

I'm guessing you're a Northerner? The CSA wouldn't have come crawling back. It had the same political system, plenty of rich land to make money off of, and (Though I don't agree with it) slaves to do their work. They would've done well.

Also, stop with the cheap shots about slavery. The Civil War wasn't about slavery, it was about independence.

The point of Islam is to spread chaos. When the world is filled with chaos, they believe that the 12th Iman (or 12th something, I forget) will come back. So Islam is designed to kill people. So yes, I believe this is a religion to be stopped.
