So far, I don't have an instructions page that needs to be red... Although I may put one on that can be accessed through the right click menu that goes to scene 2 or something
That might make sense.
Simpler is better, scroll wheel probably doesn't make sense
But I can't see the harm in hotkeys...
"How can you understand this stuff"
Easy, I wrote it...
I didn't send it through even a single edit so I'm sure alot of it is akwardly stated >< or written poorly.
Thanks, I won't put music on right click menu
Should I use hotkeys?
...scroll wheel?
Any advice is much appreciated
It is difficult to predict the future due to chaos theory, however anticipation, accurate or not, is a key element of human thought and existence. I believe that the times of my life (unless I am to die very soon) will be extremely chaotic, and may be one of the most significant times in human history. Around 2030-2040, humans will gain the ability to externally or internally increase the intelligence potential of the human race. Some possible methods include external mechanical intelligence. Stephen Hawking is a major proponent of ensuring that all gains in intellect occur inside humans, and not in external machines. The event at which humans gain the ability to modify their own intellect is known as the Technological Singularity.
The graph at the bottom is from Ray Kurzweil and basically shows that throughout human history the rate of technological progress has accelerated. That is because of books and because humans can now store data indefinitely, which makes current human progress much faster than evolution, namely because it is guided. All this acceleration has occurred with humans having archaic intellectual facilities. Once humans acquire the ability to become more intelligent by adding computers and biological modifications to their brains, the rate of paradigm shifts in human technology will accelerate dramatically. The singularity is the event horizon of the black hole that is human history. In fact, that is the origin of the term Technological Singularity. Technological advancement will be so fast that accurately producing models for predicting the future will be impossible. With many predicting the singularity to occur at roughly 2030 (depending on if we take a cautious path or try to “brute force” it), I find it impossible to make reliable predictions as to my future after that date.
With these facts known, the experiences of my generation will be of more radical chaos and more radical order than any generation before. As history has gone on, the potential power of small groups to cause immense destruction will increase dramatically. This is a trend that has gone on for some time. In 1800, the worst one man would be able to do unto mankind would be to kill a single man, or a small group of men, not even an entire structure. In 1900, one man could conceivably use explosives to kill a moderately sized group of men using saltpeter or black powder. In 2000, one man could rather feasibly destroy the entire earth and wipe out human civilization permanently. This trend will continue to escalate as we move into the future. Although difficult to predict, some potential weapons of the future could be massive scale nuclear or conventional Electromagnetic Pulses (EMPs), or even Von Neumann probes which are by many considered the most powerful weapons conceivable.
With enough time, this trend would inevitably destroy the human race. I have heard many notable scientists say that if humans are spread out across multiple solar systems than the increased destructive potential of individuals could be counteracted. Von Neumann probes transcend this challenge though. Von Neumann machines are incredibly fast. As a note, Von Neumann probes were conceived by Von Neumann (creator of game theory and notable member of the Manhattan project). However some scientists have doubted the feasibility of Von Neumann machines, arguing that if Von Neumann machines were buildable than the universe would not exist.
Irregardless, if humans were to simply develop in a fashion as we are now, then we would be doomed. That is not the case. It is probable that humans will develop some form of AI in the first half of the 21st century. If humans do not merge with this intellect than humans will very quickly be eclipsed by it. That dependence and submission will come to bear an unpredictable nature. To predict how a machine with vastly different intelligence than human intelligence will regard its management or lack thereof of mankind is near impossible. As many scientists (most notably Steven Hawking) acknowledge, humans must merge with machines this century in order to prevent extinction. Humans will need to be able to uplink their minds into computers and will need to be able to ensure intelligence in human society is held internally. Right now the best ways of improving human intellect appear to be growing humans outside of their mothers’ wombs, genetic engineering for greater intellect, and having human brains altered as to be largely dependant of quantum computers, which are faster than the chemical computers that the human brain uses.
My role in this chaotic future is difficult to predict. However the most probable outcome is that I am destroyed very quickly along with the entirety of my human brethren. Although one could romantically fantasize about a noble death in this can clearly see and have a chance to fight his destructor, that is not realistic. It is more likely that during the chaos of the next 20 years, I will be destroyed very quickly as small single men wage wars against great nation states. If from out of this is yielded a human born with superior intellect, and the capability to become more intelligent indefinitely, then the human race will be saved. If I do survive until the technological singularity, then it is likely that I will have my own intelligence modified and will merge with a number of quantum computers. At that point I will live indefinitely. It is conceivable that I will, at some point, be destroyed by a massive black hole, as many physicists predict that modern black holes will grow indefinitely and engulf all matter in the universe.
Before the singularity, the world will be a place of great peril and chaos. After the singularity, the world balance of power will be irreversibly polarized.
THC (active ingredient in Marjuana) has extensive Medical use for those with cancer and AIDS. THC can boost one's appetite and those who consume food while on THC tend to keep the food and digest it.
THC also can reduce pain and anxiety, ensure sleep, and prevent seizures and muscle spasms.
THC isn't useful for those who do not suffer from serious medical problems. THC is disadvantageous in its adverse neurological effects and the tar and cyanide found in it. However, for many people, the advantages greatly outweigh the disadvantages.
Concentrated THC tablets are also found to be significantly less effective medicinally than THC when its smoken.
Whether THC should be legal for those without a prescription is simply a matter of whether the state should play a paternalistic role in the social status of a nation. Generally, it is within the precedent of US law to regulate chemical consumption in order to preserve the health and well-beings of its citizens.

I am currently designing a tutorial that currently has about 80 pages of content. In the end it will be 600+
On the main menu I have the choice to go to one of 6 sectionss. And then on each concept I have the choice to go to one of 15-30 concepts. I give the user the choice to go forward and backward with arrows on the side of the screen. And I have a menu that pop ups on the bottom if the mouse scrolls over a button that says menu. This bottom menu allows the user to select music, volume for music, to go to the main menu, or to go back to the concept menu.
I also have a right-click menu which lists every section and the main menu.
I am thinking about adding a scroll wheel sort of interface that lets you scroll up to go back and scroll down to go forward. Another idea I've thought about is adding hotkeys, such as f and b going forward and back. M going to main menu.
I'm not sure if I want to implement all these hotkeys though. It might just confuse the user if I go over explaining it, but Hotkeys are nice because they save space on screen.
Would it make sense to put music options on the right click menu or should I just have concept selection to make it more simple.
I don't know how much interface is enough interface and what would be appreciated by a user and make sense.
Agreed, but getting on the Learn Flash page is what gets your tutorial the most attention. Now my tutorial is just kind of sitting around univisited cybespace, and it probably will only be seen by a small handful for the rest of its days.
If I got something on the Learn Flash page, that would ensure that it gets attention for a long period of time.
Probably getting daily first or getting on the front page helps to ensure that it will be featured.
Ah
Well its score implies its of sufficient quality. It seems to be on par with the other tutorials populating the Learn Flash page.
I'm doing another tutorial so if an adminastrater saw it and decided it wasn't good enough, I'd like to know why precisly in order to improve upon my failings for next time.
I made a tutorial that has a fairly high score (3.82), and I wonder how I can get it featured on the Learn Flash page on Newgrounds. I guess it would be appropriate to be there as the tutorial's score is higher than the other two AS tutorials featured on the Learn Flash page.

That's my tutorial

And that's where I want it to be featured
I added the textArea component to my flash and clearly input text into the proper area. However when I run the flash the component displays no text and rather gives me an area to input text, irregardless of the options I set for the textArea. I decided to create an identical textArea with identical options in a seperate Flash, and it work flawlessly, displaying all the texts its supposed to. I've spent hours trying to make the textArea display the text I set for it.
I'm guessing this issue has to do with the library, considering how the performance of the textArea component differs from one flash to another.
This is quite a serious problem.
According to the bandwith profiler, I have most of my data on frame 1, yet this is not the case, does it have something to do with my music. Can I tell flash to load the music in a certain frame?
No, there is only the preloader if frame 1. However when I ran a bandwith profile it listed 99% of the content as loading in frame 1. So my problem is that I can't tell the preloader to load 1st. And tell the rest to load in frame 2.
I already have the preloader, and I'm using it. And theoretically preloader is doing its job. Its just that the preloader isn't being loaded as a first priority and isn't being shown first, it comes in when its roughly 80% loaded.
For quite some time i have had serious issues producing a working preloader for two tutorials I have been making/ have made. The problem is that the preloader isn't always the first thing to load in the movie, hence it loads close to last. This seems quite illogical as the scene in which I put my preloader in is seperate from the main scene and hence should load quickly while the rest loads after it.
I really have no idea how to control what order scenes load in inside of Flash, but if anyone knows how to make a working preloader it would be quite helpful.
randomly select from a list of names, or just throw in random numbers and letters? Randomly generating a human name without a preset list of names is very difficult and would take a very long code and alot of hardware (to my knowledge)
Try generating a random number first:
Math.random()*10 = xnumber;
if(xnumber == 1) {
name = Suzie;
}else if(xnumber == 2) {
name = Bob;
}
...
I'd recommend making the whole thing a function and then embedding the function in on(release) {
For any animators interested in a story to work with, I have one. Its written in a prose style, which may throw some off. Email me at Alex6200@gmail.com if you're interested.
You may use this however you like, and I'm fine with any amount artistic liberty or lack thereof which you desire to take. In this thread, reply if you're interested. And I have a few paragraphs of my writing so you can make a smart decision to see if you want to get the full story. The full story is to long to be posted directly, unfortunantly.
If you're interested, email at Alex6200@gmail.com and reply on this thread. If you have any questions or comments post them on this thread. I will respond diligently.
For seven years, the ideologies and the prejudices of a long pacified element of the human spirit rose from the ashes of its own destructor to once again bring war to the men of Earth. And thus was wrought upon the fragments of a warped and weary man a state of war, fought and waged for the sake of war. A farce stood between the reality of death and a whimfully passionate breed of men. The warped and tainted elements of man and all their self-gilded senses wore the cloaked masque of the farce—sourceless men and meaningless corpses its guise and the blind perverted love of bloodshed engendered by the sight of an angry flesh-machine, blooded and lifeless, was its aegis. And upon the breaking of the farce one would come to see man indifferent from the flesh-machines of which it so clearly bore. And then, in silence and in the stillness of pre-battle waiting, would encroach upon the consciousness a fear like none felt before. Darkness of the eyes. No senses. No perception. I was all there ever was and will ever be, and upon my passing there was and will never be a universe such that is observed now. This would come to be realized, and would come to bare a nature of that which is written thus:

Ajax recognized those words in full impact and power that Ordos had done, and the die was cast. Ajax was no more. Ordos lunged at Feyn, and he crashed into the hot springs, and the hunters left.
Feyn looked at the blank and empty stare. It had not given Feyn solace as he had expected. Instead it held the terrible reality of death that bore his name, and the cruelty he had committed.
Feyn left Ordos behind and continued to the city. Ordos watched his old friend walk away, treated in a manner befitting the sin in which he was conceived.
“You’re right Ajax, I am an animal”, went the words to the heretic ebbing of the silent wind, spoken by the wilted amaranth.

This picture sums up why I'm not going to draw and animate the story by myself.
Hey, I wrote this a while ago. I don't mind if anyone uses it, as long as I am given co-credit for contributing the writing and so such. Email me at Alex6200@gmail.com for the actual thing. Thank you for your time and your attention.
I am very loose. I would prefer it was not made in sticks. But if you can do sticks right than go for it. In many ways this story is the second part of a three part story. The first part of which I am writing currently.
If you would perfer a screenplay to prose for making a movie I can understand that and I will respond accordingly.
This is the begining(so you have an idea of the flavor of my writing):
