I've always been a bit disappointed tbh because applicants for the UK have always dropped out and the UK has never been properly represented. Considered entering myself at one point! ;)
Thinking of just writing a UK dubstep track (after all, we're the bastards who came up with it!) and if no-one submits a UK track, just posting it outside the competition to be patriotic.

I havea funny situation going on atm. Theoratically I have the song complete already in FL Studio, but only in the patterns, and whatever I do, I just can't combine the patterns so they actually blend into a song that doesn't sound like it's a combination of 1-minute long clips pasted behind each other. I either gotta scratch some stuff or think of really, really, REALLY good transitions.
Oh lordy, that is precisely the main problem I had. I ended up writing and scrapping two tracks for precisely that reason. Hell, my composition still sounds like it has that kind problem.
Your preview sounds pretty hench, even if you did turn the track into a copypasta feast, I'm sure it'd still sound awesome.

Ahhh, I'm sure an Indian track with slight modification would be a successful Sri Lanka track, and same for Turkish -> Armenian!
Tongue in cheek cultural ignorance FTW!
BAMP.
How's everyone's project coming on? :D
Wow, loads of people here use NI! They're WAY out my price range (I don't really have a price range, actually), but I have'nt had any trouble at making weird, fucked up sounds with the ES2 and EFM freeware synths on Logic. That said, I here so many sick bases made on Massive.... At what point is NI worth buying dyou guys think?
The song "Run This Town" is about the imminent Illuminati takeover, all the artists featured are members of the illuminati, and yeah.... illuminati SON....
Happy birthday second most famous Tom on NG!

Like you, I was initially planning on buying a t-shirt from the online store in support of the cause but the price doubled when shipping was included so I pulled out (not exactly made of money these days).
Instead, me and a few others intend to take part in the poster campaign, targeting our university and then the capital city.
^^Most constructive post in an unconstructive thread I've seen for a long time^^
At 40 minutes ago, Taraa wrote:Seriously you hipster cunt, you think Joseph Kony is the first and only African warlord to commit horrific acts?Ohhh someone's getting angry. There is no need to call me "hipster cunt". I'm for sure not a "hipster". I have the right to say what I believe in. That's my opinion; if you don't share it.. fine. But there is seriously no reason to insult me ;)
I speak only of my own experience, but so far as I can tell the people who most ardently despise the Kony 2012 campaign are:
- Hipsters who make a point of being on the opposite motion to the unwashed masses.
- The masochistic breed of liberal that oppose every possible course of action so they can never be wrong.
- Con. Theorists who see this as preparation for the Illuminati (I kid you not, apparently the numbers on the wristbands are to get us used to having a personalised ID number).
Don't get me wrong: there are respectable arguments from non-interventionalists who believe it just isn't the state's job to get involved in any unnecessary over-seas conflict, but so far the majority of Kony 2012 haters seem to be the type who would have been devoted activists had they seen it before it blew up.
I don't think Taraa's anything like a hipster, nor did she ever say Kony was "the first and only African warlord to commit atrocities", merely that catching one such warlord is something to be desired. I think a large slice of the general populace need to go to the shower and clean out the sand from their vagina right now, so they can voice their political stances and arguments without sounding like /b/tards minus the anonymity.
Because Newgrounds is the place for moral faggotry.

You see folks, this is a classic example of a '12 user. They do not take the minute necessary to read the OP properly (or fail to give the impression that they have) because they feel such disdain for the post, that such time is too precious to them to surrender to such an unworthy cause. However, they take the time to post a comment deriding the OP they clearly did not read fully, allowing them to attract everyone's attention to their butthurt pissyfit (now that's surreal imagery).

Well, much as Teq's a sound guy, he seems to be under the impression that in the first and second rounds its impossible he gets put against someone who he has to be bring his A game with. I don't think we noobs can afford to take any of the upcoming battles lightly, I for one certainly feel I have a lot to prove, even if I get put up against some dumbass like Lil C.
At 2 hours ago, Teqneek wrote: This is an impossibility. The first and second rounds will be little more than a warm up for me. I'm dead serious.
Be excellent if Teq was put up against Gasmasq in the first round.

What?! You got somethin' to say?!
May or may not tweak it before the deadline.
May the influx of awesome world music onto NG begin :D
Reviewed in the track in my rap account (AxTekk) by accident, the song sounded VERY recognisably Turkish. Tis good stuff.

Yes. Yes it is. And I shall never forgive you.

I've had no PM back from Jkap, but seeing as his track's creative commons, I figure "fuck it!", he'll probably appreciate the surprise :P
At 22 minutes ago, BDPooMan wrote: I've seen a lot of people with issues of where to find drum pattern samples that are legal to use on this site, and other such things, would anyone be interested in creating some music stems for other NG music artists?
I'm thinking that I could use my drum kits I've synthed and edited and make my own patterns, then others could use those samples without fear of copyright infringement.
Same could go for other instruments, basses, leads and all other interesting sounds, even voice acting.
I know the idea of this website is to be original and not to take the easy way out, but as long as the samples were used to create original music I wouldn't see any thing wrong with it.
Good idea or no?
And if a good idea what kind of sounds would everyone like to be in such a package, what tempos, et cetera.
Don't see any problem in it myself, but generally its best to develop an ear whereby you can notate the drum patterns that are playing. That's how I sussed DnB. Generally, if you PM another artist asking how they acheived a certain trick, they'll respond. I certainly do.
But yes, have no probs helping make some stems :)
Are you looking to buy an amp too? & also what would you call cheap? O.o
Sounds like a great cause, I'll give it a crack! :D What kind of deadline are we looking at? Also, are there any family roots or special memories with your fiancé that you would like in some way referenced?
Best wishes!

I'd love invisibility, personally. Its really the best in terms of the preservation of oneself and one's close ones, and it'd mean you don't become a big headed jackass :)
Heya, I'm kinda bored, guessing Ima be waiting for quite a while till I get to see what the pros in the competition have been drawing up. Just wondering if I could write some pieces for untaken countries on the proviso that they be only tribute pieces to the competition and not entries? I know I probably sound really arrogant writing this, but I'm just in a bit of writers block right now, and I figure using the competition guidelines to write some more music (and perhaps advertise the competition to any new artists who haven't ventured unto the forum yet) might be killing two birds with one stone.
Again, I'd like to specify, I don't want to double enter, just write some tribute tracks for the competition and link right back here :)

Just seems like a question of allowing artistic adult material (such as naked paintings and quasi erotic artwork) or not. It shouldn't be so all-or-nothing, certainly.
Dude, smoking age 14 is never a good thing to do, least if you want to run track. Its your choice whether you'd rather be the guy who gave smoking for running, or gave up running for smoking though.
You can't run your track and smoke it too.
Wow, I don't think anywhere in Britain's quite as bad, but I used to travel through Bow, East London, a lot. Also visited the rough side of Fulham a couple of times as a kid (my step-dad grew up there, and wouldn't let any of us forget it). Mein gott, America has a lot of really crappy neighbourhoods (no offence).
I quite like the quietness. Influxes of n00bs are IMO not necessarily a good thing. What I like best is when some complete idiot starts posting who brings everyone together in hatred, so I think the redesign should have involved some kind of advertisement for such people.
Remember Insanctuary? Good times.
