One last note before I head off to get some shut eye.

PiG, if the third person thing doesn't work for you, SJD if you;ll only battle for money, I'll put twenty five US dollars down for PiG for this battle. SJD puts down $25, I put down $25, we all get a battle well worth half a week of my wages.

Would that be straight forward enough? Dear god, this is causing headaches.

Well cutting across all shit talk here's the issue:Right now this battle means nothing to NG. Make it a part of an NG tradition so it contributes to the website, and Tom may have a reason to do us a favour here. Red, you up for putting this on the CD?

No im not giving the little Buddhist kid money to buy some Buddha.

Just a side rant. So far i've been made fun of for being British, 17 and Buddhist. I gave you guys better ammo than that, where the fuck are the jokes about my failed two year relationship or my sexuality? F'rChri'ssakes.

And also, PiG, the point is that I'm not gonna run off with the cash because my shit'll get repossessed if I do. True story.

Gahhh, it's like nine o clock here. PiG, y u so untrusting? I'm pretty sure Tom has better things to do with his life than put his ass in the middle of a potential legal dispute, on the hiphop side of an audio portal that frequently leads to copyright quarrels. I mean, shit, PiG, why don't you just suggest Barrack Obama hold the money?

If PiG is really set on having Tom hold the money, I suggest we make this an official ClabTrap battle to be put on the CD RIGHT NOW, so Newgrounds has a genuine stake in this.

PiG, shit like this is kinda why people say you're trying to snake a way out of it. I'd like to remind you, a verbal agreement is a legally binding contract in the UK, and you could repossess my shit if I was snake enough to run off with the money.

We both have our honor.

That's cool as long as SJD trusts you. But, without getting into personals, I think people tend to be far less willing to pay out $1000 than $50 to someone they've just lost to.

ALSO specifying now: American or Australlian dollars? Just to clarify.

Secret ballot?

Man's got a point guys. I can tell a selected jury to vote and record a breakdown of how they thought the battle went before talking about it to anyone else, but that's all I can do.

Also, PiG, I can totally see where you're coming from with trust issues, but I don't think SJD trusts you to pay if you lose (which would be understandable, nothing personal).

If you don't trust me or Red, fine, but unless you can
a) come up with a different holder of the jackpot that you can trust,
b) convince SJD you're trustworthy (perhaps by exchanging some kind of deposit) or
c) come with some kind of deposit me or Red would have to put in to earn your trust, shit ain't going nowhere.

I mean, I don't think any of us are really all that trusting, but if we wanna do this with such a large jackpot, you and SJD have to find someone you can both trust to hold on to the money, or trust each other to hand over the money.

One thing I will say, if someone doesn't pay up after losing, pretty much everyone on NG will know them as a whiney pussy ass bitch forever.

AFTERNOTE: this gives a very brief overview of where UK law would stand if I ran off with cash: http://www.contractsandagreements.co.uk/law-and-verbal-agree ments.html. Essentially, we've reached a point where I've agreed to hold onto the money and pass 100% of the money onto the winner of the battle. If noone wins, the money gets split 50/50 between you guys. If I renege, you guys can call collections agencies to come harass the hell outta me and repossess my and my family's shit and/ or take me to UK court.

SHIT forgot about JUDGES

I can find around twenty people to judge objectively if you guys feel comfortable about that. I know a load of local guys who spend quite a lot of time on the rap scene, and they won't have heard of you guys before. I'll need about a week to get a working jury, but if I was to get nineteen judges would that feel kosher? They will generally be North London middle class/ working class teenagers like myself, mind.

MONEY

OK, here's what I propose in terms of money holding. I don't think the whole "I'll pay you once I've lost" thing is really that airtight, so I think we need to have one paypal holding the money, which I think leaves us two options:

OPTION A:

- Give money to BigRed's paypal (given he consents). He's a long time Newgrounds- er and would never live down losing the trust of the NG community if he ran with the $1000. It would be the end to ClabTrap, and a lot of his friendships on the site.

OPTION B:

- I hold money in PayPal. Beside the fact I'm a practicing Buddhist and wouldn't ever steal from anyone, I'll give you guys my personal contact details, facebook, etc etc, and give someone like Red my passwords to release if I steal the cash, so you guys can trust I won't run out on you.

Obviously, I trust myself more than Red, so I feel better about Option B, but its your money.

VERSE STRUCTURE

Now, the given format for these things is 32- 32, and the strength of that has been that both rappers have enough time to give it their absolute all. However, I think half the fun of this is gonna be the flips so I'd like to suggest we do three sets of sixteen for each rapper, like a proper battle. I can find a beat long enough, provided I have the backing of you guys: I feel that's a fair compromise between SJD's request for long verses and PiG's request for more verses.

What's the feeling towards theses proposals?

As much as I love the shit talk, to be fair PiG, SJD is fairly new to the site and so would have trouble picking ten judges he could trust to be objective. This is where you, Mr. 2003, would have a gross advantage. Unless we're wanting to get another website involved where SJD has more of a presence, ie: SoundCloud, we're gonna have to keep the number of judges down and just suck it up about swing votes.

Actually fuck it, I don't want to host this battle anyway. I don't want to find another dope ass beat and have it ruined by Pigpen's voice, so someone else step to the plate. I just want to watch the train wreck.

**Axtekk posting from his non-shit-talky alt**

IF this battle goes ahead I would love to host it. I like PiG and I like SJD, so I think I could be objective about the whole thing.

But, on a less self-promoting note, I'd love to see PiG v SJD, you guys have the most original, funniest styles of any of the rappers on NG. This is a battle that really should happen. PiG, don't pussy out.

Why would God want to give you information, in fact the most important information in the universe, in a form humans cannot understand? It's not like a physics test, where learning facts is paramount importance. It's spiritual revelation, and surely the best medium for that revelation is the one that touches the human mind the most, and can be understood the best. I would argue a truly honest God would have no time for writing the most important book that could ever be written in hyper realism, for the sake of hyper- realism. The most honest thing to do would be to give humans the best understanding of creation possible.

How can you not agree with everything the Bible has to say, or make your own translations of it yet read it and say it is the word of God. I don't mind protestants who don't participate in church-related things and think that the Bible is exaggerated and has a bit of bullshit added in, but the fact that you can say you believe in the Bible and what it says yet you change its original meaning just makes no sense at all.

Does something have to be factually true to contain truth?

What do you think would help me understand your home town more, a collection of statistics or some poetry about it? The poetry would probably give me a better understanding, despite being far less factual. Humans understand the meanings behind poetry and mythology better than they do the meanings behind cold (but absolutely accurate) facts and figures, even though they actually mean the same thing very often.

Surely divine truth is no exception to this rule, so why would someone spiritually wise choose to write such wisdom in a medium the original meaning couldn't survive in? Myths, poems and parables serve the purpose better.

Yeah, like a lot of guys are saying in this thread, pop was pretty terrible in the 90s.... but, rap was at its peak. You had the big guys everyone knows (Biggie, Pac)and you had the back pack rappers who did the shbiel EXCELLENTLY (I refer of course to Aesop Rock). Moreover, because of the terrible pop music, we in Britain enjoyed the Britpop phenomenon, with bands such as Oasis and Blur making it massive, so guitar music enjoyed a renaissance. And anyone who like dubstep should be greatful for the massive evolution of garage in the 90s that ultimately lead to the birth of dubstep around '04.

So yeah, the 90s were a period of crap popular music and an excellent reaction against such crap pop music IMO.
