It's a legitimate concern in games with a lot of dialogue. RPGs for example.
In Sonic 4, however, I'd be surprised if there was any voice acting outside of the title screen.
Yeah, lemonade is pretty good.

Well I'm watching Soul Eater on Youtube.
Funimation seems to have uploaded the entire series onto Youtube. I don't know how that makes them money.

I think when I was 13 I had the tendency to respect my elders.
And looking back, I think I had pretty good taste in music when I was that young. As far as I remember, my favourite band was Radiohead.
Apparently mine was:
"I wanna be a leotard."

I do love the blatant hypocrisy.
I wonder if I was this annoying when I was 13.

I treat people as what they want to be treated. Identity shouldn't have to be decided on external appearance.

I play Team Fortress 2 on my Mac through Bootcamp. The game runs just fine.

It has a similar premise, but I wouldn't say it 'ripped it off'. They're very different in terms of content, style, and tone.
The monster who fights other monsters premise has been used in a bunch of things. Vampire Hunter D can't copyright that idea.
Off the top of my head I can think of:
Hellsing
Soul Reaver
Angel
Blade
Blood+
(True Blood?)
And the idea was inevitable. It's just "Hey, what if in Dracula, van Helsing was also a vampire?"

Actually, anime is short for 'animeshon'.
At 7/4/10 11:17 PM, IlikeKorn123 wrote: I know I'm right, I made many points to say why these shows should be called anime for they're styles except for the fact that they're AMERICAN.
The word 'anime' doesn't describe a style in which an animation is drawn. It just describes the country of origin of the animation. That is, Japan.
It just so happens that Japan is particularly unoriginal with the styles of its animation.
Just go to My Computer and click on the PSP icon.

You're misunderstanding the meaning of the word 'anime'. It means 'animation made in Japan'.
At least, that is the Western meaning of the word.
Saying anime can be American is like saying American animation can be Japanese.

Not everything that males aged 18-30 watch is mature. K-On! isn't any less mature than, say, Family Guy.

That's not really relevant.
But I've never liked when a series is heavy on fanservice, but I think ti would be a good idea to ease myself into the whole 'Slice of Life' genre. I've always read shonen or more mature iterations of it like Naruto or Gantz. I've done some psychological stuff like Parasyte and Uzumaki but never the lighthearted 'real life people' kind of series.
It's not really heavy on the fanservice. There's just a little bit of fanservice involved.
I'll check out the manga if I can find it before I try finding the anime.
Why?
I find that Kyoto Animation usually improve their source material. For example, the Lucky Star manga is simply terrible (I'm not planning on getting into a discussion about how 'the anime is terrible too' by the way).
At 7/3/10 04:14 AM, Gobblemeister wrote: Why would it be targeted to older males? From what I've heard it's just girls starting a band, and they look far too young to be legally put into sexually compromising situations. Even Ecchi looks like it would be pushing into Loli territory.
Yes, well this is Japan we're talking about.
There is a decent amount of fanservice involved. Beach episodes, and the like.
When I watched it I just ignored the stuff they threw in there to appeal to that audience.

It's not shojo. It's seinen.

There's practically no chance that they wouldn't put out a subbed version. It's fairly obvious the sort of person that K-On! caters to in the Western market.
As far as I know, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC, the folks who regulate all electromagnetic transmissions for the United States) has a rule that states that product placement can only take place in live-action prime-time programming or something to the effect. It has to do with reducing the ways companies can market to children (alas, the old "cartoons are for kids" myth).
I love the idea that they'd be worried that expensive vintage guitars are being marketed to children.
Can they regulate television shows that are going straight to DVD?
At 7/2/10 02:36 AM, HibiscusKazeneko wrote: The girls' instruments and equipment are actual models produced by real instrument manufacturers, and digitally airbrushing them out would ruin entire plot lines. For example, one of the episodes centers around Yui trying to purchase a guitar from a local music shop, and the main reason the guitar is so expensive is it's a Gibson Les Paul Standard.
If they actually say 'Les Paul', then there's no way to censor the subbed version. 'Les Paul' in Japanese is the same as in English.
If they don't, then it's not an issue. It doesn't matter that the guitar is a Les Paul. It just needs to be an expensive, vintage guitar.
I can't imagine it would take them a lot of effort to get permission to use that brand in the show, though. It's not as if the show's a barrage of product placement.
