In sixth grade you do an in depth study of world geography, that's all you learn is "Where's norway?" "There." "What's norways climate like?" "cold." We spent as much time on the US, Canada, and Mexico as we did SA and Australia combined.
Alright, so I'll spare you the details (unless you want them), but I recently built my first rig, seeing as how this is really the "Computers" forum of NG, I decided to ask your opinion of the RADEON X850XT, the graphics card I bought. Personally, it seems to be a solid card, with pretty decent graphics, not running HL:2 at full settings, but more than adequate to run things well. So, I guess, discuss video cards in general, and tell me your opinion of the above card. (Also, a little birdie told me that ATI and AMD are merging, true?)

Damn, beat me to it. I think it depends on the severity of the case, and whether the jurors can be sure that the person is guilty. A man who might have killed his wife, but might have been out with his buddies, getting drunk and crashing with them. Probably shouldn't get the death penalty. However, if you've got the guy on tape, slaughtering his entire family at thanksgiving, he's probably guilty.

Begoner isn't trying to say "This is better." He's jsut pointing out some of the faults of capitalism, faults that are almost entierly true. I've seen one post that has tried to argue against his points, and far too many that have said "What's the alternative?communism?" Sorry, Begoner's got a point, capitalism is not very efficent.

But seriously, China's history is one of the most fascinating that I know of, however, just about the only books I can seem to find on it are either of the three kingdoms, or recent (1900-present) history. China is quickly becomming a super power again, more industrialized, moredisposable income, more growth, etc. Still funny when people call it communist, cause it's really not so much anymore.
learn BASIC, any form, then move to Java where you can do some real things, but in order to make a "poke-mon"esque game, in anything except flash, expect to take 5 months at least, for more info on flash/Action Script (AS) go to the flash forum.

I have an interesting situation, in that my grandfather worked all his life, is a hardworking man, and is reasonably intelligent (he still suprises me with his random genious), but never got above lower middle class. Take my father though, very similar to my grandfather, intelligent, hardworking buisnessman, paid his way through college, went to an OK school, etc. started a buisness roughly 10 years ago, almost went bankrupt thrice, but is finally starting to see a profit from his job. Both of these men had pretty much the same opportunities, but one benefited more from capitalism. It has shown to me that two things matter most in caitalism, luck, and who your daddy was.

you know what's really funny? Nobody has even mentioned the vast amounts of inventions, explorations, etc. that religon was a huge part of. Take a look at expansion from europe to the americas, one of the primary goals was to spread christianity to the "savages", causing god knows how many changes. Also, Martin Luther.
lol, The reason Christians are up in arms about it is becase the author (Dan Brown) really believes most of this stuff, he thinks jesus banged his mum, and started a bloodline that exists today. Though he labels it fiction, that was really just to make it seem more acceptable, I guess. It also pissed off a bunch of brits because about 30 years ago two other authors wrote a detailed analysis of various supernatural things that they believed pointed to the holy grail being the blood line of christ, and they think Dan Brown is copying them.

seconded, except the "never used MAC" first comp I had was a mac, and of K-8 That was what they used on the comps, in the end, if MAC was as popular as Windows, it'd have as many viruses, and would be equally shitty. But, MAC's are mainly for graphics, Windows is more versatile, from what I've seen

I've a friend who's jewish, we joke on him all the time, saying that he killed Jesus, etc., but he knows we're just playing, especially because I know history well enough. But, the current trend is to hate Jews, that's always the way its been. However, if they'd give me some of their Jew gold, I'd leave them alone.

I used to read alot, now... not so much, mainly because when I bring a book to school, everyone swarms me to figure out why I care about what happened during WWII, the real frankenstein, etc. My vocab has become worse since I started reading the internet.
