I've done it both ways and the problem I'm experiencing now is that the frog starts jumping back and forth as soon as it gets to that scene. Even with the onRelease command he just goes and I can't figure out what I did wrong. If someone could PM me or leave a link ITT to a demo on how to do this, I'd love you forever.

I mean, I can make buttons and I can animate frogs, I just can't make a frog that jumps ONLY when you click him.

Ok - I tried to fix it myself and now I'm worse off than I was before. To give you more insight, I have a button named "frog" and I tried the on release gotoAndPlay command so he would hop to his little lilly pad. This doesn't work. When I test or export it, it plays through without me doing anything. I'm not even sure it should be a button or a movie at this point. If someone could give me a quick walkthrough that would do wonders.

I think I did something wrong (or rather, I know I did). After puttin the stop command on those two frames, he doesn't move at all when clicking on him. =/

I suck at AS so I need some help. What I want to accomplish is a scene with a frog and when you click on it, he jumps onto a lillypad. When you click him again, he jumps back to where he was (thus completing the cycle). The animation isn't a problem, it's creating buttons and or movie clips that will do this. The best I've gotten so far is where when you click on him, he jumps back and forth without stopping.

Hopefully this is something that can be asplained in the BBS, cause I am hopelessly lost and the tutorials have only gotten me halfway.

It comes down to two things - personal preference and style.

Unfortunately the first usually wins over the latter.

I think what Reven is saying is that you're being insensitive when you flame a song and just say something vague like: "hip-hop suxxx". So, from now on, when you flame an entry write: "YOUR brand of hip-hop suxxx".

I agrizzle, my nizzle. And this is not a unique thread. At least twice a month, someone comes in here complaining that Rap and Hip-Hop is underrated and underappreciated here at NG.

What people need to keep in perspective is that these are amateur musicians, using amateur equipment in their spare time. Akon gets paid bucoup $ to do what he does best with a team of professionals doing what they do best with professional equipment doing what it does best.

Considering the free market of supply and demand, I'd say Hip-Hop is quite fairly represented here and what unappreciation you're talking about is probably toward the 'dregs' who don't put much effort into their amateur productions. It happens in all the genres, please quit crying about Hip-Hop.

There, I said it.

I am just using one mic, so it's not phasing issues. I think it might be too sensitive, but I don't know that that would explain the distant, almost muffled sounds I get. Anyway, I'm still experimenting so we'll see.

Rig, did you get a chance to listen to the clips?

Any. You can kind of hear it in "Lullabye" with the oboe part, but that fits the style. Guitar, banjo, voice, anything not DI gets 'muffled' and I hates it!

So here's where I stand:

Trying to capture an acoustic instrument live either produces too much hum or a distant sound (like I'm in a large room, and I'm not). I can't seem to get a clean sound no matter what I do, pre or post-production.

I use Behringer B-2 Pro condenser mics on the cardiod setting hooked up to a Behringer Eurorack MX802A soundboard running directly to my soundcard (via mic jack). Cakewalk is my multi-track.

I've run into this problem before but not every time, and I don't have a monitor - just my headphones and when I'm really ambitious I take it to my car to listen. I'm at the point where I'm fed up and frustrated and I need a new pair of ears to tell me what I'm missing (like I said I've had this problem before, but not consistently, so I don't know wtf is up).

Please, if you think you can help, I'll send you my current project so you can hear what I mean.

(and Rucklo, I HAVE lurked, been to every audio link and the best I can say is I'm waiting for a response from another BBS).

Thanks

I'm having a problem with my recording equipment. Actually, I don't know if it's hardware or software, I just assume hardware. I'm getting these distant, almost muffled recordings like I'm in a larger room (when I'm not) and nothing I do in the mastering seems to fix this. I haven't posted my latest due to this problem, but I need another set of ears to help me on this.

If you think you can get to the bottom of this, PM me and I'll send you the files.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, or the family members who inherited the rights.

Here's my two pennies *gets out soapbox*

This is a matter of success versus excellence.

Success is not in your control, it is an external, subjective qualification placed on you by others. Other people determine your success (voting, stickers, frontpage, downloads)

Excellence is in your control, it is an intrinsic qualification you determine. When you set and reach a personal goal, you have attained excellence in what you have done. You may not get a lot of good votes, or stickers or awards, but what you have done has value to you because you did the best you could.

Excellence > Success IMHO

As long as we keep the goal of excellence on the horizon, I believe success will follow. The only thing that follows success is failure (unless you're Bounc3, then it's more success!)

stickers are fun, great music is even more so
