Are that the preroll ads of newgrounds? Or does my computer have adware or something (since the skipit thing looks so lame and not newgrounds-y)?
This in Chromium on Linux btw, so adware seems unlikely unless something managed to target Chrome in an OS-independent way...

So, impossible to see any NG video, only the ad works, not the actual content, and the ad is 30s! Very different from how NG used to be...

And the skipit thing is this: http://www.skipit.com/how-it-works.html. Like, really, something that scammy, in NG?

Finding movie gone from frontpage? Posted May 26th, 2013 in General

Hello,

Sometimes there's a movie or game I recently saw/played, and then it's gone from the frontpage. What is an efficient way to find it back (when I didn't favorite it)?

I didn't find any "recently viewed" feature.

Searching usually does not help (e.g. I'm now trying to find back some movie about Mario, there are just too many of them and search does not return them in date order)

The Games and Movies portal sometimes help, but they too are such chaos with so many movies and games that using that is hard too.

So what is a good way to find it back?

Thanks.

Yes it is

Hi,

Is there a way to see how many people got some medal of some game? If so, how?

Thanks!

Way to see all title texts at once? Posted February 11th, 2012 in General

Hello,

On the Newgrounds frontpage, is there a way to see all the titles of the frontpaged movies and games at once, rather than seeing each one individually on mouse hover?

Thanks!

"Under Judgment" movie on frontpage Posted January 24th, 2012 in General

Yep, it's happening right now! With The adventures of willied.

How's that possible?

Response to: Review Deletions and Bans Posted August 27th, 2011 in NG News

Tom,

If it doesn't work like that yet, add version control to the NG platform and make sure you can restore NG back to any state or undo the last days of actions by rogue mods!

Thanks!

Score: 9 / 10
Summary: Nice little game
Review: I liked this game, even if it was small. I found a few bugs: you can walk past the gate to the warehouse if the guard is there, by going through the lower part, and, as others said, you can walk to the right in the warehouse.

The music of this game was really nice, I love chiptunes, it's a shame the songs aren't available as standalone on NG!

Spaces in URLs Posted May 17th, 2011 in General

I've been wondering this forever: Why do people often put a space in a URL on newgrounds?

Thanks.

In case you're viewing flashes in the classic lay-out you won't be able to see the medals on the submission page though. If you want to say them you should change to the in-page lay-out by going to My Account => Flash Portal Preferences.

Oh, that explains! I use the classic layout indeed. I never knew the new layout showed something the old one didn't. I still prefer the old layout though, because it allows viewing the flash in a new tab or window :)

The description of this movie (Warriors of the Portal, http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/56 8732) says the way to get medals is in the description of the medals.

How can I see these medals and their description?

They're not in the movie itself, and in my profile screen I can only see the info of the one medal I got by watching this movie, not the others.

Thanks!

I only discovered it today, but if I view the list of Music Reviews I made, it appears every review before august 2010 is gone. I'm very sure I've written reviews for audio before that too.

Where did they go??

Thanks.

Response to: Why doesn't voting stack over days? Posted April 6th, 2010 in General

Just stop being so fucking lazy. It's obvious you just want the "better" icon. If you were in it for the movies, then you wouldn't complain about this.

Of course I'm in it for the movies and games. I wouldn't be visiting NG without them!

Why doesn't voting stack over days? Posted April 6th, 2010 in General

I rarely watch FIVE flash movies / games that I feel the need for to vote in a single day. But often I see one that I find worth voting. But then I often think like "why would I vote, if I vote this one flash, it doesn't matter at all because tomorrow this vote is forgotten and I have to start over to get 5 votes to earn XP points".

I'd love it if even a single vote on a day has some use, namely that it remembers that you voted and the next day you'd only need to do 4 votes. Or if you vote once a month, that after 5 months you get the XP for doing 5 votes...

Alright guys, listen up (about ads) Posted June 14th, 2009 in General

More than 50% of the internet are totally for losers, by losers. You know, ads for 10000 smileys with spyware, illegal green card lotteries, online poker and illegal SMS contests to "win" an iPhone. Only very few ads are fair businesses advertising their genuine product.

I don not want to be part of that crap. That is why I use Adblock. I have no problems with fair ads. NG appears to have the technology to show some fair ads to Adblock users.

Why, then, do you have to use that technology for such ugly ads? Use your technology to show some proper ads for your TShirt store. Not some random ugly images made in MS Paint with the text "you're a dick and you suck" on them.

The "Related Content" info needs to re-populate with proper results. Until then you will see a lot of content that doesn't feel very related... The end result should be much better.

If you want to test the "Max Size" button, which makes Flash fill the width of the layout, try it on these!

You can still open Flash in a pop-up as well, and the moon icon dims the lights, like the lightbox layout we had before this. Give it a minute to soak in and let us know if anything is totally broken.

Everyone thank PsychoGoldfish, Liljim and Bob!

Hmm well, only improvements I see are:

-light switch can be dimmed but making it light again doesn't work anymore, is it a bug? (browser: seamonkey)

-if you want to pop up the flash, it's impossible to do so without avoiding having the flash loaded in the main page. So the flash is running twice then!

I voted 5 on a song (before I voted there was only 1 other vote and it was also 5.0) and it gave -0.0000060 points! How comes?

See picture.

Negative points by voting 5?

Think of the game as an ad, and ad you dont have to pay for....

That's not exactly defending them... That's exactly my problem with it: is NG then a place to upload your AD to and distract users away to different websites? Is that even allowed at all?

Incomplete Armorgames Posted August 6th, 2008 in Where is / How to?

There are some games posted on newgrounds, which are good and even make the frontpage, but they're incomplete.

Inside that game, they rub in your face "this feature is only available if you play from armorgames.com" with even an armorgames logo pestering you instead of the actual feature.

Two examples are here:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/45 2123
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/44 6232

Now, I can imagine the makers of this game have their little deal with armorgames about advertising and getting money from it.

But they, if you want us to play the game at armorgames.com, put it there, don't put it on NG. The only thing this does is make a user see a 90% complete game that immediatly tells you to play it at armorgames.com instead, and if you didn't do it from the beginning, they put enough tempting things inside the game too to make you go to armorgames.com instead.

I've always had a good experience on newgrounds, but if there's something I hate, it's things that treat "consumers" like objects that must be pulled with their money or, in this case, ad-views, to certain places.

I have nothing against ads in the game. But I have something against this very obvious practice of annoying people who play the game at NG and make them go to armorgames.com instead.

If I want to play armorgames games, no problem I'll do it on armorgames then. If you post it to NG, please post the complete game or don't post it at all.

Is this what the free content of NG is about now?

What does NG themselves have to gain from hosting a game that only tells the player to go to a different website?

P.S. I first posted this in general. Please delete that one instead of this one... If it didn't already disappear 15 pages down anyways.

How can you find music to use? Posted July 24th, 2008 in Audio

For in a Flash game or movie, how can you find music that you can use in it?

Can you use music from the audio portal of newgrounds, and do you have to ask permission of the author, or is it enough to give credit?

How comes some flashes use music from bands, isn't it copyright violation?

What are good places to find music to put in a flash game for putting on newgrounds?

Thanks!
