Gahh! I haven't been done EGB stuff in a while. Been contributing a few non-comuter requiring things here and there, but until I can permanently settle myself in one place, my activities will be erratic. Sorry if a missed everything. Anyone care to fill me in?

Byyyyyyyyte- ;>-> sorry for not updating you on the website stuff, I don't have a workstation right now, so I can't get anything done. IRL things have really sucked away my time these days, but regular schedule will resume soonish.

Everyone else- 'sup?

I'm really surprised by the results, mainly those of the movies. The games deserved their spots, but I can only really say that Captain Planet Strip Club deserved to be even remotely acknowledged. There were some beautiful Halloween submissions this year!

There be some serial respecht for the guys that won, but the fact that so many greater submissions were left out is mind-boggling!

Stolen. The author could not ever spell the game's name right, the game already has a web site which the author did not use to create his/her account. YouTube link links to a how to hack channel. Hmmm... :)

Doubt this is original as it is all over the net, but I can't find definite proof.

Hmm... I've got some great games that were overlooked because of their simplicity.

The concept here is really good. If only it were longer...

This one is funny and a damn good puzzle. I would really love to see this expanded.

This is pretty cool, too.

I also have a movie here that should have made some sort of splash in the Christmas competition that year. Srsly. Everyone should watch it.

Those links are enough to prove that this guy is not the author, but I can't find the original!

In StH2, the author addresses the fact that StH1 was mediocre, and that's why he didn't post it. The original may be found here: http://stormthehouse.net/sth1.html

Wooooooah there, Tiger. Check out the guy's profile. He's looks legit. He's got a site and everything.

Don't sweat it too terribly, but you've always got to do a lot of background looking before you make any decisions. Remember, it's not about the whistle points, it's about cleaning up the portal! If you blind yourself in the scramble to get the whistle, you might miss some stuff.

Also, Miniclip is not a production team. Though they're quiet about it, they mostly sponser their games, so it makes sense that the developer is moving beyond it.

Salute

VERY MINIMAL CHANGES!! Only added in pencil shadow. Everything else is the same.

Hmmm... The author did say that he took reviewer suggestions and improved some other stuff, too. I don't know if he's really made up to that claim, but I'd let this one slide.

That is a question I would profoundly appreciate answered.

I would like to upgrade to the new Mac OS (10.6; Snow Leopard), but don't want to upgrade Flash, too. My current version is CS3, and I hate CS4 for two reasons:

1. The interface is slow and ugly
2. I'd have to shell out money more money

Thanks.

You'll be hard pressed to find someone who'll do that for you. Most people value their time as much as they value yours (or perhaps less, realistically). And yes, I was telling you to go figure it out yourself (with a liberal spread of useless lexicon), but that's for the best. If you you can manage to figure it out yourself, you'll know that you're bright and have got potential for this game making business!

Also, did you try google? I'm certain you'll find something there.

I'll say what I always say: Flash Docs! Within Flash, go to Help> Flash Help and there you are.

Go to the AS3 section and start from the very beginning, working your way up. Tutorials on the net are great for the specific things, but are often poorly written and don't give you insight on the workings of language. The docs are great for mastering AS2/3, and teach concisely and pepper you with analogies and reviews along the way.

And yes, Gust is dick to newbs (almost in variably)

A bit troublesome request... but it should be 2-5 min taking trash for those who got skills i guess... Could you make me an example in a .FLA ( CS 3 ) file so i could see how this crap works?

Well, learn ActionScript for one thing (go to the Flash docs instead of relying on tutorials: Help> Flash Help, and start from the very beginning and work your way up).

And to make bitmaps all you have to do is draw your art in Flash (or the program of our choice) and export it as a transparent, full quality .png.

As for the best way to follow a character... I'm not a programmer (but I have indeed dabbled in coding, I understand it well), but the best method really varies depending on the kind of game you're making. I'm sure if you play some good games on NG, you'll develop your own tastes, though.

Your batting average is the mean of your top three scoring movies. Since the NG redesign, the only way to see you BA is to search up your user name in the search bar and hover over you icon with your cursor. From the looks of you flash scores (and considering that the one submission that scored 3.80 was submitted on CLOCK DAY), you're probably not ready to take on leading a collab.

But keep practicing and you'll get there!

It should also be noted that backgrounds are often bitmaps. These save on processing power, allowing for the games to run much faster on slower machines

Read through that. We have these rules to stop the BBS from being flooded by collabs that never see the light of day. While the standards may seem high, if one achieves them it almost guarantees a fair amount of experience and leadership skills.

No prob, but don't be intimidated by the great globs of text; take it slowly. Don't despair, and it'll all start to make sense eventually.

The best way to learn AS3 t- the BEST way- is to start from the beginning; the very beginning! How?

THE DOCS!

How do we access said docs (docs is short for documentation)? Within Flash, go to Help> Flash Help.

Boom. At the docs. What now? Start from the very first article on AS3 and work your way up.

This is good because you'll be learning from the beginning and continually reaply you skills as you trudge along. Tutorials are good for covering specific topics, but what good are they if you don't understand the fundamentals behind AS3 programming? If you truly want to master AS3, the docs is the place to go!

I wasn't referring to that your game is an input-text game, but the it's a text based game... A game centered around the idea of reading to beat.

But still, the Llama Adventure game still holds as a source of inspiration regardless of the angle you're shooting this.
