What if Alexander the Great had conquered the entire known world from the Atlantic to the Pacific?
His related summon would have played a much greater (hah) role in Final Fantasy 7. Muse would have made a song called Knights of Macedonia instead. Leif Erikson would have decided to stay in America and turn it into his own viking empire to battle the inevitable rise of a unified but corrupt eastern hemisphere. The "fat stupid self-important" country of the world would be the United States of New Macedon. Also, McDonalds wouldn't exist.
What if when Joan of Arc was sentenced to be burned at the stake, she pulled some action hero shit and busted out of the place, blade gloriously flinging blood and guts everywhere, vowing to bring true justice to the world?

I don't have any time to really fully read through everything here but I will throw in my two sense about the header: I love the header you have now. Just personal preference, but the site'saesthetic is perfect in its current incarnation.
Okay, let's be real as shit here people.
None of you waited to turn 21 to drink. We've all gotten wasted at some loose teenage girl's house with our slightly older and more resourceful buddies. Only thing special about turning 21 is not having to hide it.
I celebrated 21 by going to a bar, but I was a straight edge back then. Played some pool and darts. Saw a crappy live band. Spent time with the fams. Was a good time.

NG has always been my favorite site on the net. I truly hope it is alive at least as long as I am. I am on a different side of the fence, one that has basically nothing to do with money, though - posting art on DA vs NG. Usually just post to both sites, but I treat DA as more of a social media platform so it gets all my sketches and crap...
Different communities will experience different things but yes, in general men get the shit end of the stick when it comes to assumptions. Seems to be a side effect of misguided feminism. But women have their share of societal burdens.
Religion is an industry. Atheism is a marketing tool. Nobody wins.

For future reference: grab Zone Alarm or something similar too. With ZA you can set it so that every single program needs your permission to run and access the internet individually. Pain in the ass, but it's a good way to weed out viruses.
Also run your scans in Safe Mode or Safe Mode With Networking. And finally, if you're on Windows, press Win+R to bring up the run dialog and type in msconfig - go through your startups and make sure the shitware isn't floating around in there somewhere.
+1 on MWB being awesome

This. I'm gonna be a dad soon and my family loves the shit out of me. My best friend is single and isn't quite as close with her family (from what I've seen). As much as I love the gal I couldn't leave my world behind.
I had a great selfie of when I was 15 and took myself waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously. I was holding a katana in front of my face like I was some badass samurai or something. Was pretty fat. Had long black hair and an unkempt beard. Trying to look all angry. I kept it forever 'cuz I thought it was hilarious after a couple of years. No idea where all my old pics are though.
Goddamnit, I'm getting old. That was almost 10 years ago.
I've never dialed the wrong number, mostly because I am insanely paranoid about doing that so I always double check what I am dialing. But I have gotten misdialed calls before. I usually hold conversations with 'em. Or texts to the wrong number... Actually last one I got, we found out we have a mutual friend.

Every generation has its problem. Ours just happens to be apathy.
Sorry Mr. Freeman, you're getting too damn old for this stuff.
Sometimes I come to these forums just to watch people make asses of themselves in various ways. This is one of the most diverse threads of self-assery I've seen in a while. I commend you all.

That's pretty messed up. So you could just go around gunning people down and as long as they end up in the street not near a crosswalk they can't charge you with anything? That can't be right. Sounds like a convenient way for less scrupulous people to dispose of people they don't like.
Well, it's pretty rare to run someone down and not be found guilty of vehicular manslaughter. And this only counts in cities of course. You have to genuinely have a case for it being an accident through no fault of your own - for example, they stepped out right in front of you and you attempted to break (visible at the scene via skid marks) but didn't have enough time. "I didn't see them" isn't usually a good enough reason unless it's pitch black and they're wearing all black clothes and there are somehow no street lights.

I find the demographic of Newgrounds to be interesting. But let's save that for another discussion.
As some random person once said, "You do not have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body."
I believe this to be the true outlook of most educated Christians. Selling your soul is equivalent to signing a contract for a lifetime of slavery. No actually faithful Christian would ever make that trade. It requires some degree of unfaith or doubt.
My beliefs on the topic of the soul are complex, so I won't get into it, but suffice to say, anyone who truly, actually believes in any concept of souls would feel the same.
PAID POSITION - looking for a UNITY programmer ONLY. Compensation is $600, project is pretty simple with all details 100% laid out already but it must be flawless. All art is completed already. Payment will be made in milestones so you don't have to worry about getting screwed over. Essentially, it is a mobile checkers game with online multiplayer for Android and iOS. If you are interested, PM me with a couple of samples. If this project goes well there are three more of similar nature lined up for you if you are interested.

http://noobflash.com/actionscript-30-onenterframe/
I think I understand what onEnterFrame does, but I'm not sure how that helps with this particular problem. The problem is that once the movie advances to another frame, as far as I am aware, the Movieclip from the previous frame should cease to exist. It appears to do so visually. If I have the movie advance early to a frame with nothing in it, the visuals from the previous scene do not show up. The audio does, however. That is the problem.
From what I've gathered, the code inside each MovieClip that tells the root to advance works because it uses the "gotoAndStop" function, which seems to reset all of the audio in the movie when it does so. If it advances without using that function, the audio will still continue to play. This is what I'm trying to work around. Any ideas?
Hmm. On that, I am stumped. Only thing I can think of is manually ending sound events from the previous frame with the AS3 equivalent to onEnterFrame. I'm sure a real programmer will be able to answer your question in no time :P
You could also consider bringing this issue to some dedicated actionscript forums, you'll probably get a better answer there. It's a little dead 'round these parts.
I'm not really a programmer but I've used onEnterFrame in AS2 before. This might help you get going in the right direction:

so again, I'm looking for a programmer, an artist and an animator. anyone who's interested please leave me your skype name. I'm looking forward to working with you. :)
You're in game design and you can't efficiently program, draw, or animate?
Listen, I appreciate a great writer as much as the next guy, but if you want to get somewhere in game design you NEED to have at least one of those skills. In my experience, writers almost never get hired out of the gate.

Truths. I never play a game on normal or easy, even if it's my first time around. I find that 90% of games geared for the American audience are already dumbed down as it is.
With that said the only one I'm proud of beating on "hard" is the highest difficulty of Devil May Cry 3.
