I got hooked on it instantly. The best part is the completely customizable board and all the resultant strategies. And that's just with the original; I haven't even played the expansions yet.

Get it off eBay if you buy it, it can set you back like 50 bucks in a store.

Negative. Avoid heartless gift certificates. Those are good for distant cousins, not girlfriends.

Anything homemade is usually a safe bet, unless she's overly cynical or tomboyish. A handmade card along with the perfume might do the trick. Or a framed photo of the both of you or something.

I used to play almost every day in high school. I don't know what my record is. Probably something like 25 - I was usually in a setting with more than just myself; our team volleys probably got higher than that. We played POT a lot: if the hack hits you anywhere but your foot and then touches the ground next you collect a letter (spelling P-O-T). If you got all three you had to stand against a wall while everyone else took a turn pelting the hack at you, then the game was reset.

Good times!

I'm glad someone here appreciates it. Though your profile says you're from Europe so I'm betting that's why you've had more exposure to it. =)

You mean you and that other guy?

It could be a generational thing; it won all sorts of German awards back in the 90's, but it's supposed to be gaining popularity over in the Americas. According to the wiki article it's gotten into the 2005 Games Hall of Fame, and when I type "sett" into my Google Bar it's the first suggestion.

Have any of you guys ever played this board game or any of its expansions? With its huge popularity, and this site's general interests I was very surprised not to find a topic about it...

Anyway, I was introduced to it not so long ago by some friends, and for the first month or so I could not stop playing it! It's like Monopoly and RISK rolled into one (sorta). Unfortunately I got buried under school shit and haven't been able to pursue it for some time now.

Anyway, I was looking for some folks to discuss it with as I am currently procrastinating doing said school shit.

I'm not a Christian btw. This is just nature. We all mourn, even animals.

The thread's stopping here, because the question posed is framed in a religious bashing way, and we all know that most of you guys can't handle that civilly (see first reply).

The viral videos and general knowledge of that fact (that they own both brands) hurt them quite a bit actually. It was a terrible idea to run the Dove campaigns and still keep ownership of Axe.

Imagine if you found out that Mac and PC were owned by the same company ;)

Their marketing messages are directly oppositional. Axe promotes sexism and unrealistic standards of beauty while Dove campaigned against that very notion and promoted female empowerment.

Something I thought was interesting that you might not know.

Ok, you know the Dove brand (soap, hygiene, beauty products) right? Remember the 'Campaign for Real Beauty' and all that jazz; the stuff about raising women's self esteem, blah blah. Anddd you know about Axe Body Spray and related products, and their type of advertising...

... well, they're owned by the same company: Unilever.

If you're a viral video fan you've probably known this for years, but a lot of people aren't aware. Pretty sketchy, huh? Apparently the Axe and Dove departments are literally down the hall from one another.

Cool logo though.

Would never dream of solely unzipping.

I don't think many dudes do... I mean, I don't pay too close attention to the urinating, habits of males in public washrooms, but there always seems to be motions to suggest the unbuttoning. In movies too. There's that ...hoisting of the pants afterward that can only be achieved after unbuttoning, 'y'know?
