the only complaint i had drawing this is how the chalk overlap on itself on a certain area, likes the ones around the thumb and butt
I feel kinda cartoony painting this :3

I think he meant that your piece simply didn't fit with any of the other pieces submitted, as it was simply too different. Not that it was bad, just really far-gone from the other pieces in this collab.
what if I draw a person?
That seems to depend on how well can you draw a person right from scratch with an abstract feeling to it on a notepad background or any other method of drawing skills that you've got in store for us that will be judge by JKAmovies and CaptainBen.
Well throughout trial and error, i gotta say im done wuth this picture.
Title: "Ant Knight Warrior"

And I'm really glad I somehow helped with Zanesorrow's 2nd pic. I really like that style of yours kid, I would have scouted you myself, but sadly I lost my scouting ability. One piece of advice though Zanesorrow, remember that these hatching style is not just for design, it also serves as shading, so take note of the proper places where to hatch. And always remember to keep those lines as close as possible.
To put the hatching as close as possible and put them in the proper places, cool i'll remember that. Btw, it isn't really a 2nd pic since i already used up the 4 different tries and the ant knight warrior one is the 5th try, this pic is just a fun little show off of what i know so far like how im mixing my little style, with the lock's characters (from what i saw from Ninjaco's gallery), and the hatching style :)
Oh and when Luxemburg said that the pic appear unclear, i gave it some messy dry brush coloring to hopefully let it be easy to look at.
At 3/4/10 09:09 PM, Luxembourg wrote: That looks pretty cool. Still unclear, but it's not colored, after all. You should try working with hatching and cross-hatching methods more often, I think that could be the best way of shading for you. Kind of messily done here, but that could be remedied with practice.
thx, with soo many methods of shading, i really want to try them all but hopefully in a clear and clean way lol.
At 3/3/10 07:48 PM, Luxembourg wrote: Since I mentioned that I used to color using colored pencils, I suppose that my art thread should have a piece of that sort. This is not anywhere near one of my favorite pieces that I made, but I figure I may as well mention that this is one of my brother's personal favorites by me.
Feedback is nice, but not expected.
It's like a ghostly blob monster that orders its ghostly hand minions to fetch them snacks but i've always notice how color pencils seem messy (plus smelly enough to burn the eyes.... or was it crayon).
But that's an interesting pic though because there soo many different types of foods, and i even notice the reeses next to that piece of candy lol.
Man that ninjaco's origami lock art was awesome, it inspired me inmitate that sort of stuff and plus i sort of borrow fifty-50's cross x shading thing *sigh* i wish i was an expert colorer and i wish i hadn't used up my tries and stuff. WIP took me an hour. Now back to the ant knight warrior thing :3

I think it looks nice even those antennas are on the head.
yea you're right with the able to fix that part, but who knew i end up being one of the 99.9% of artists who place the antennaes like this instead of this. ....but i rather keep what i had with the antennae on top of the head instead of the middle of the face, cause it look cooler that way for me lol.

At first i thought im gonna have a problem figuring out how to control the opacity of the grass and stream but thank you layer duplication :D. I was wondering if you meant to see some of the line a little on the grass and stream part of the background.
At 3/1/10 08:58 PM, Fifty-50 wrote: Well done Zanesorrow. I think this one will definitely fit in the collab, let's let Jka be the judge. You really improved since the last time I saw your works. Congratulations on learning how to use solid colors. Great work.
Thx, lol i guessing u didn't like how i used to spray color on my works.
I've been learning slowly through looking through styles of many interesting artists including urs and then I decided to find a program that use solid colors and practice on mixing around some stuffs like texture, light effect, shade effect, and etc.
In overall, i start from ms paint(goofing around), goof around on http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/ (for some reason i can't save the art) , move on to http://www.onemotion.com/flash/sketch-pa int/ (the program that i use on the outline on the ant knight warrior thing, the way the lines are form and flow of it works great on my laptop touchpad), tried out paint tool sai(turns out i've downloaded a trial and it expired), and now i'm using sumopaint now(for coloring)

If you mean the cube and boldy light then sure, that cube and bright light thing on top of it that makes it boldly looking is definitely not my skill lol, it would be pretty cool if i could give these sort of effects with the basic tools but oh well. Now for the quest to toning down the grass and stream, is this too dark or alright?

The stream and the surrounding grass looks really unrefined though. so you may want to fix that up a bit so it fits with the style. Try outlining the areas you feel are necessary, cleaning it up, adding some more texture (like that around the anthill, and using a more mellow color for the grass. The one you have right there feels too bright.
I need to figure out texturing a little more but what i got so far is added with shades, light shades(from what i examine of jonnyutah skills), and added texturing.

If anyone wants to critique, by all means do.
That's epicly explosive. I guess my critique is more like a question "I wonder what would look better? Tankman on top of notepad or tankman opacity turn into a notepad?". I think the explosion look great as it is.
Still in progress, all I did so far is placing plain colors. Now to place even more colors on top of the colors and to put shades and lights. Does the pic look easier or harder to see?

They could still use some effect to make them stand out, though.
The green is the really confusing stuff. The big "Huh?" circle is the area that didn't seem to make any sense whatsoever. You really need to work on making those areas more clear.
From what I can tell, it's a knight with a flail that he has lodged in an ant-pile. Correct?
yes you're correct, for the green that confuse you i say that that's a sword stabbed down in another ant hill which then the ants are crawling on top to go across into the next ant hill. The knight is actually an ant knight where i even placed an extra arm right under its right arm. Plus the knight is kneeling down too and the gap in the middle between the two ant hills is a small stream of water. Hopefully once i color it, it'll be distinguish.

Haha, i almost couldn't see spiderman if i hadn't i adjust my eyes, well first of all the picture should have a notepad background where u could find here then choose one of them. You'll post the art here on this thread to be judge by JKAmovie and CaptainBen either it'll be accepted or not.
Plus make sure to use the dumping grounds which is located at the left column of "My Account" and i mean the "My Account" one located in between the inbox and logout button, use the dumping grounds to upload the png version of the art (since you can only upload gif or jpg pictures on a post) and link it here.
Look at other people's examples throughout the other pages here to understand the quality and interest in them. Most importantly read the first page.

Well u can't delete the post u submitted unless you're a moderater ( or mod for short) but there are two simple way to continue on this conversation in the thread and that is by
A. reply post
or
B. reply with quotes
All u did was "A" but anywho, you never did told us who's art you liked.
