looks good fighstacy - I like!

It's been awhile since I've last been on newgrounds, there's some nice work you guys have been making.

Anyhow - here's a little animation I made a few months back - LINK
Oh, and here's a little dialogue animation I did a week or so back - an exercise I was taking some students through setting up audio and lipsyncing. LINK

And lastly - here's an image of a character that I've recently made for another little animation that I'm currently working on in my spare time - I'll hopefully have the animation finished within the next few months.

Hey all, here's a little something-something I've put together over the weekend in my spare time. This little guy isn't finished just yet, still gotta rig him and add fur effects. But couldn't help myself...

Hey, been pretty busy since my last post - thought I'd drop an update shot of that woman (just recently got around to texturing her) I should be able to send a link to a short animated piece that i've been working on in the past couple of weeks soon. So heads up for that, if anyone's interested :)

Hey peeps. Yeah I remember that 3D tank for the NG awards thingo - excellent job mate ;)

Anyhow, here's something I've been working on recently. There's still a fair bit of tweeking to do on her, but hopefully I'll have her finished and ready for animation in the coming weeks. She'll be part of my showreel that I've embarked on developing throughout this year. So i'll be busying myself with lots of 3D creations - well that's the goal anyway :)

Nice work XGhostGearX - it's coming along well :)

Here's an image comparison of a 3D character that I created for a team project for class. The 2D concept was created by fellow team member Robson Vieira who did a great job as our concept artist. I had the task of developing her in 3D and rendering.

You can see larger version here - link

Hope ya's like :)

I've finally been able to upload this animation (thanks to my crappy internet connection atm) - you can catch it here on youtube - link
Animated it in about 2 days. Now I can get on with my holidays and get back to working on a flash animation project of mine :)

hey peeps. Started animating this sample piece for a potential work venture today. Anyhow, couldn't help myself, so I took a quick render of one of the shots. At the moment I'm just blocking out the animation, extra details such as facial animation and so forth will be animated in later...

Oh and I might as well throw my 2 cents into the pipe...Maya's very good (I use it nowadays) but it can be pretty tricky to learn if you're just starting off. It can seem pretty technical at first. I started off mainly on 3DS Max and that was an excellent start for me. (and also there's plenty more learning resources on the internet for learning Max then there is for Maya at the moment)

ahh, some nice works guys... here's a little test render I did last week of my 3D woman character - I have since fixed up the reddish glow on the teeth and am just working on the hair dynamics for her... but yeah, she's pretty much ready to animate :)

lol, you guys are probably getting sick of seeing her :P I probably won't show any more of her till I've animated her.

Hey guys,

This is a little character I created for an animation assignment for class. Modelled/UV'd/Textured him in a day and Rigged/Skinned him in another day.

Modelling and Rigging done in Maya 2008, - UV'd with RoadKill and rendered with Mental Ray. Texturing and Post-work in Photoshop CS3.

Oh, and also another thing I've just recently started working on is setting up the 3D woman I did awhile back for animation. Since I'll be working in Maya, I've had to spend some time importing her in and recreating the shaders for her and re-lighting the scene so she looks as good as she did in my final render on 3DS Max. Anyhow, I've been rigging her, which is pretty much complete, all I need to do is work on blendshapes for her face and re simulate some hair for her. (I've had to spend a bit of time learning how to properly use the hair system in Maya Unlimited since I'm no longer using the hair&fur system in 3DS Max).

In case you want to see the original image of this 3D model, you can view it here - link
Here's a peek at the rigged version of her so far...

Hey peeps. Nice stuff. It's been awhile since I've posted anything, so here's a squiz at what I've been doing recently...

I did this model for a class assignment which will be later used for a larger final assignment at the end of the year. She's the main character too. No hair yet, since I'll be creating that with hair dynamics.

You can check out a turn-table animation of her here - at this link

nice improvements J-D-S. Just remember to make the SSS shader less waxy. Grab some references of actual skin if you want, so you can get an accurate idea of how light is affected on skin surfaces.

quick note before starting off - you can check out that previous 3D model of mine over at CGSociety at - link

Anyhow, I decided not to put any more work into that last one cause there's been too much time with it and I need to do something new. So anyhow, here's something that I've been working on recently in Max. It's going to be a huge improvement hopefully on the previous one too. Going to try a few new things with it.

But yeah, just a note with Z-brush everyone. It's a good tool to play around in and get all 3D artsy with, but if you plan to get into animation with it - you'll want to model your work in another application like Maya or Max, and then bring your work into Zbrush later for extra detail - because otherwise your model's topology will be all shot - and that will mean really bad deformation when animating. So try and learn some of the more technical sides of modeling if you're interested in getting somewhere in 3D.

Anyhow - here's some renders and wireframes of front and side topology.

I'm a little dissappointed. I would accept defeat no problem, but the fact that that "Drawing Tutorial: Male" got a better rank, I just can't comprehend the logic behind that. What a joke.

Shame on you NGs....shame on you.

It looks great, actually very realistic, but there look like there are some reflections on her skin, something that doesn't happen to humans. turn the diffusion of the lighting or whatever you use for max to take off the reflectiveness. She should have a warm glow, not a metallic one.

Yeah, I know what you're trying to get at - it's been fixed since... I have also tweeked the skin shader some more and made the bump mapping more effective. In actual fact though, skin does have some reflective properties to it (ofcourse not so much like what was going on in that previous render) that's why i've also added a spec/reflexion map to the head to help correct it.

Here's a quicky...

cheers J-D-S, and yeah, i've taken care of that head problem.

Just another quicky of what I've been doing. I've started work on the skin textures, but not finished yet, so still excuse the poorness. Was playing around with the lighting and rendering this arvo and thought I'd share one of the results. :D

Just a little update of the 3D model that I've been currently working on. Pay no attention to the skin, it's very incomplete, and I haven't made the textures for it yet. The brows and lashes need some more tweeking, aswell as the lighting, so i'll get on to that...

Nice simple pic keepwalking, reminds me of the Windows Live blue-green icon.

Current 3D thing I'm working on. I've been really inspired by Olivier Ponsonnet's (aka Reiv) 3D portrait work and have been itching to try and produce something with results similar to his.

Check out some of his work here - http://reiv.cgsociety.org/gallery

Did this awhile back now. Was planning to make a better version of this, but just haven't made the time to do it (been working on another animated project) - so I decide to show this version now for the time being. Hopefully I'll get around to fixing it up soon.

It's entitled "Breathe"

i thought i'd try to make one in 3d.
its still a work in progress.
this is one of the first models i've done in Zbrush, so dont expect perfection.
any tips or comments?
i think he looks chunkier than the drawing.

Just make sure to lower the model's resolution down a bit at first so it's easier to mold it into it's basic shape, then gradually increase the resolution each time adding more detail. Eventually by the time you get to a high res version of it, you should only be having to tweek it and add subtle textures and so forth and not be having to do any major stuff like re-posing. (and if you do, lower the resolution back again before doing anything - it makes the process alot more easier and efficiant)

Hey all, just placing up an update to that WIP head. Spent some time this evening playing round with the expression and so forth and just generally tweaking things. Came across a really nice photo of a girl's expression - It was really nice so I'm hoping I can in some way replicate it.

I'll show some more updates later once I've made some more progress.
