And we're all too lazy to click on a link or leave a comment.

Read the rules. You can offer a hi-res version of the pic as a link, but you also have to post a picture as a Jpeg or Gif on the actual forum.

I especially like the lip and the expressive eyes.

Response to: Awesome Idea needs Awesome Artist Posted January 15th, 2008 in Art

Sorry, man, but this place isn't meant to be an 'artist recriuting ground'. It's a place where artists come to put up their work and have it seen and criticised by other artists.

Also, you're supposed to start all topics with one piece of your own, original artwork.

I guess you should have read the rules before posting.

that's pretty much the way I do it... And I advise everyone to do the same.
If you like NG, and you want to "climb the ladder" with Experience, B/P, rank etc.... then don't bloody ruin the place by letting various shit in. Otherwise, you'll climb to the top of the 'ladder' and look down, and see nothing but shit.

Response to: Background Art Posted January 13th, 2008 in Art

The easiest way for you to improve the background is to hop on into Google, whack "grass texture" into the image search, and see what you get.
That way, you can see what a good grass texture looks like, and attempt to recreate it in your game.

This is of the cockpit interior detail.

Nice sculpture work! 3-D stuff has always eluded me. :3 The alien's awesome.

Heh heh... "Armageddon corn flakes"... That's giving me ideas for a short movie, now... Maybe an advert.
Anyway, thanks for your post!

On later reflection, I realise that you may have been referring to Codexes as Mods... And might not have been making any reference to DOW at all...
In which case, I apologise.
I have heard rumours that Tyranids will be getting a new codex soon, but from what I hear, not for a while yet... They're more likely to revamp the Chaos Codex.... Because GW REALLY like doing that.

But the truth is, the next codex will be "daemonic incursions".... My local staffers tell me that there will be new rules for Daemons as their own army, independant from Chaos Space Marines.

No, Relic have announced that they make no plans to add Tyranids to DOW, since the massive numbers of 'nids that would be required for their army cannot be supported by the current tech. (Or something like that.... At least, that's the excuse they give.)

The next mod will be for Inquisition - More specifically, witchhunters, and Soulstorm will also feature Eldar's evil twin, the Dark Eldar.

Anyone here play Warhammer 40,000?

I don't really play it very often, but I love painting and converting the models...
What follows is a series of photograps of my SCRATCH-BUILT warhound titan.

This first picture was taken at a very early stage... Hence why it still says "corn flakes" on the top.

For those of you who are interested in the characters depicted in my artworks -
Many of them will feature in a forum-based Science Fiction Roleplay game, which will be opening very soon.
If you have any experience in Roleplaying, or are simply interested in playing, then send my a PM and I'll give you the address.

And here's a new piece of my artwork...
A CGI model which I spent all last night building an animating. In a nutshell, it's supposed to be a light scout vehicle used by planetary security forces... A "security walker", if you will...

Looks good, nice, crisp "clean" artwork, and I'm sure that if your animation lives up to the standard set by the art, it'll be worth looking into...

One little question - Are movie props allowed to be shown in this thread? I thought I should ask as I've got a few lying around, but they aren't quite "screenshots."

Response to: My Okami pic Posted January 4th, 2008 in Art

Yeah, this is the sort of 'stylised' image that I really like. I particularly like how you've used varying thicknesses of line to hint at shading, without actually using shading. By doing this, you keep the 'bold and brash' look of a line drawing, without any real loss of depth that most line art suffers from.

This is a technique that's been done for decades, if not centuries, but your drawing shows that it's a technique that you've got a good understanding of.

Nice work. I look forward to seeing what else you've got.

If I were you, I wouldn't make a new thread for every piece of art you do... You should keep it all together in one art-dump-thread rather than posting dozens of mini-threads... It just helps to keep the forum clean and tidy, and it also stops admins and mods from getting pissed off.

Other than that, it's not a bad picture, but I would work on getting rid of the Will-Smith lips...

This is the kind of abstract art that I appreciate.
The thing in the middle actually LOOKS like a tape. The stringy stuff actually LOOKS like unwound tape....
I particularly like how you've done it in negative so that it had a certain unearthlyness to it.

We get a lot of posers in here who just draw a dozen triangles and call it abstract art...

I would say that the legs were the correct length to begin with, but you've kinda made them so thin that they just look like they're too long.
I would beef 'em up a bit.

Response to: anatomy sketch, any suggestions? Posted January 2nd, 2008 in Art

The tip of the middle finger should be somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 way between hip and knee.
The wrist should come at the cusp (lowest part of the pelvic bone...) of the crotch.
The legs should take up approximately one half of the height.
The feet should be one-head long.

Response to: anatomy sketch, any suggestions? Posted January 2nd, 2008 in Art

drawing 1; somebody who makes biography books for a living, and sketches them all. total expert of anatomy.

That's Biology, not biography.

Biography means writing a book about some guy who paid you to write about him... Kinda pretentious. Or a book written by a guy about himself, which is even more pretentious.
Biology is the study of life and living organisms

Response to: My year of pure agony! Posted January 1st, 2008 in Art

I used to get a lot of ingrown toenails when I was younger....
But due to my good pedal hygiene, they never infected or anything gory like that.

In the end, I usually managed to fix them with the 'pack with cotton wool' method to encourage the nail to grow normally.

Anyway, although I can't look at this piece of art for more than two minutes without starting to get that acid-y feeling at the back of my throat that always accompanies the smell of bad feet... I thought that this piece accurately portrays the ugly nature of this illness.
Good job.

Response to: Comission Posted December 30th, 2007 in Art

It certainly has a very strong 'disgruntled' character to it.... I rather like it.
It's got an atmosphere sort of like "tired of being repeatedly run over in 'mario kart', the banana became bitter, angry, and fell in with a bad crowd."

Anyway, I suppose that the simplicity of this drawing fits in nicely with the idea that it's a band-motif, and would need to be recognisable at a distance (if you're in the back row of a performance, for example,) so intricate details would be a bit of a waste...

Yeah, keep it up.

Response to: Some stuff Posted December 30th, 2007 in Art

Well, at a glance, I can say that your bottle's label is a bit iffy.... Rather than drawing the label as a simple rectangle, you ought to try drawing it as a 'slur' shape.
Since I fail at describing such things verbally, here is an MS paint visual aid....

Some stuff

Here's one I did a while ago. I posted it in the 'when space is the limit' topic, but this evening, I thought I should at least transfer it to my art-dump-topic so that I've got at least most of my stuff all together in one place.
