COMPLETE edition of the interactive "choose next panel" comic
4.09 / 5.00 15,161 ViewsVery impressive so far... It's always great to watch other people's sculptures come together.
Although personally, I usually prefer to do blindingly small sculptures... Mostly due to space restrictions and financial limitations.
Anyway, this is looking great at the moment... Once you've had a chance to sand the shapes smooth and clean up the sculpting work (getting rid of toolmarks etc) it'll look fantastic.
So, are you going to paint the finished model when you're done? Or are you going to stick with the "au naturalle" look?

I have changed it a bit too.
You can find the original drawing in this Thread. Just scroll down to see MindChambers masterpiece.
Here's my the sketchy drawing.
Interesting facial expression... As if he's just seen human porn and doesn't know what the hell he's looking at. Somewhere between curiosity and disgust.
Anyway, nice work!
All the mechas I made are in CGI form, but I don't think you'll begrudge me for that....
I use the open-source CGI animation and modelling program "blender," which I would reccomend to anyone.
Anyway, piccies!:
Put more effort in...
I mean, you didn't even finish off the left hand side of his glasses, his hand appears to have two outlines, and you missed out his horns. :P
Other than that, it's got potential... You just need to put the work in to get it out.
It needs to be a Jped or Gif, and it has to be no larger than 599px wide X 700px tall.
In addition, you have to do it through the "include picture" "browse" ability when you're posting up a new reply.
Anyway, to get back on topic, this art looks kinda doodly and scribbly, which may have been intentional, but I'm a bit of a picky bitch when it comes to such things.

I'm planning to draw a background, and I need advice on how to color. Despite all my failed attempts to try to color my drawings, all of them end up being black and white because they turn out much worse when colored.
Heh heh... When he gets excited, does his head stand on end?
Anyway, not bad for a first try (Personally, I've never even used a tablet, but I've seen some pretty horrendous art from people who have given it a try and failed miserably.)
So kudos... I look forward to seeing how your skills develop in this medium.
Seems to me like yet another Newgrounds cock joke...
But still, it might give me a cheap laugh (I'm yet to see a cock joke that doesn't...) so I'll watch this topic with mild interest to see how this idea develops.
Hmm. The back of his calves look a little... "raw" in that frame, if you know what I mean.
Since I'm not familiar with your software, I'll have to revert to using Blender terminology.
It looks like you need to set those faces to be "smooth"...
Looks like my titan killed the thread...
A little simple, but that's probably what you were going for anyway....
Not bad, keep at it.

That looks so real...
I'm jealous. XD
I'm sober all the time. I don't drink, do drugs, smoke, or even take caffiene.
I find that forcing good feelings into yourself cheapens TRUE good feelings when they happen.
Plus, weed only produces the illusion of creativity in a person. It makes people THINK that they are more focussed, while in truth, the exact opposite is in effect. Prolonged useage of the drug will permanently impair your creative abilities, as well as your sex drive, hormonal balance and appetite.
So dinnae dae it!
Here's my favourite 40k model....
My scratch-built titan. XD
ALL YOUR BASE, ALL YOUR SOLDIERS, AND ALL YOUR ASSES, ARE BELONG TO ME, BITCHES!

My psychic powers say that he bought it... *rolls psychic test*
Uh-oh... snake eyes.
not all that impressive.
Looks to me like you just whacked a filter onto a picture of flames, and then plastered some words over the top.
Just the facial expression makes me giggle.
For some reason, guys with goatees look so much funnier when they're crying.
Anyway, nice pic. I'd like to see a larger version, though.
I'll be honest... It isn't that good.
You'll want to spend more time on it... Add more details. Cover-art for a comic is supposed to be impressive... After all, with comics, it's the pretty picture on the cover that would catch your eye when you're walking through a comic book store.
So, in summary - More time, more effort, more details.
arms - Elbow should be just above hip-bone height, wrists at the very bottom of crotch height, and hands should stop halfway down the thigh.... So that means that your character's arms aren't too long, they're actually just about right. Maybe it's the fact that she's so thin that the arms look too long.
The legs look too thin... Beef them up a bit...
And the thighs seem too short in relation to the rest of the leg. Remember - the legs form roughly half the human height.

It is a very similar style, but they're still good.
At 2/21/08 07:48 PM, darx wrote: what programs are you guys all using?
I've been interested in starting 3d for a while,
Personally, I use the open-source 3D application "blender." (Because it's free, and downloadable from the Blender website.)
Although, from what I've heard from other 3D artists, Blender is a real dump-crap of a program to use... So I probably wouldn't advise it.
That said, I'm producing passable CGI models at the moment, so it's not impossible to work with.
On the contrary, my friend... the titan IS full-size. It stands eleven inches tall. (It can be built taller or shorter, depending on how you build the legs.)
There is actually enough room in the cockpit for a crew of three, but the two "front seats" for the Moderati are also slightly shorter than the Princeps throne. This means that they're not really visible in that cockpit pic...
When I can be bothered to do so, I'll sculpt a crew for my titan... Just so that people can see that there are moderati in there. :P
The titan is made from Styrene sheet (ebay), PVC tubing (the launching tube from a very large firework), the plastic tubes from fancy-shop carrier bags, lollipop sticks (the tube-type ones), the plastic sticks from cotton-buds (Q-tips, to Americans) and lots of green stuff.
The "prototype model" was made mostly out of cardboard, but I re-did a lot of that, because it didn't look so good when painted.
I'll admit that my 3d-talent is limited, but here's my current WIP....
Those of you who have been into my art thread will recognise this character. The picture on the right hand side is one of the original concept sketches.
At the moment, I've finished the head, neck, torso and hips. (Most of the hips, and the area around the shoulders will be obscured by a loincloth, so intricate details weren't important.)
And, of course, here is my battlescene picture as it currently stands.
I have been meaning to colour this picture in using my new software, but I've been kinda engrossed by my CGI toys for the time being. :D
Anyway, I thought I should post this here so that it's all in the one place.
Anyway, my next piece to show off is one of my current works-in-progress...
If you go to page 2 of this topic, you will see a picture of Levitus, lord of the Cy'An....
Since I wanted to include him in my CGI animation, I've started work on building a model of him using the popular software "blender" (along with my original concept sketches).
Here is a picture of what I have so far, with my original drawing at the side for comparison.
Okay, time to update my art-bin...
At the moment, I'm spending most of my free time getting to grips with my animation software... So much of what I post up today will be CGI models.
Anyway, the first thing I want to show off is this model of a "Skirmisher Cy'An." You might recognise him from my battlescene drawing (above)...
The model is fully articulated, making it easier to animate.
(you can see a short test-animation of this model here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3UagtVbW FQ )
At least you're putting some effort in, and not just spamming MS paint at us. :P
About the best advice I could give you is to look at photographs of real arms, and get an idea of how the muscle-tone and so on actually look. Then you'll be able to draw arms easy.
I think that a good rule of thumb is....
If you think that your art is good, post it here.
If you think that your art is bad, then post up a picture and say something along the lines of:
"Can anyone give me tips/tutorials on how to draw a (face/car/newgrounds tank/old woman/walrus/jiggling boobie.... delete as appropriate)? This is the sort of skill level I'm at. I admit that it's not the best picture under the sun, but any help in improving my skills are greatly appreciated."
That post would have been met with a far more pleasant welcome commitee.
Making a competition is something that's best left to experienced artists (who are more likely to be able to judge accurately and fairly, since they understand the intricacies of the artistic skills) and admins (who have been imbibed with the power of god himself).
I'm not hopping on the "crush the spammer" bandwagon, I'm only pointing out that there are ways to stop it happening to you.
Coming into this place with a post like the one that started this thread is an experience akin to walking into a room full of jocks with a "kick me" sign on your back. Whilst most members of the art forum are very constructive, friendly and pleasant, there are some people who are enraged when they see what they percieve as an attempt to spam their "E-home".
Pretty good! I see that you and I share similar techniques when drawing eyes....
These are very nice, simplistic eyes. I don't really see any major problems with them.
If (and that is just an if...) you wanted to go for more detail, you should add the little pink bits in the corners of the eyes, where the tear ducts are located. Also, some eyelashes wouldn't go amiss.
But anyway, they're pretty good. Thumbs up!
Now draw the rest of the face! :P
Quite extensive for a "fun sketch"!
But I love it anyway. :D
