"god" has been through eons of evolution in the human mind, which through many years has required some sort of backing. why are organized and "other" religions so long lasting?
a) we need some sort of comfort in things
b)fear of death is natural, and we need compensation for that
c) scrapegoat
d)curiosity killed the cat
when you want to believe in something, you think it's real
in this case, originally started with a quest for answers, came up with a simple answer = god(s). then those gods became an excuse for death, and eventually, an explaination for everything. when they say science is destroying religion (yeah, usually the conservative ones), they are unintentionally right. when given sufficient evidence, one no longer requires the panacea of religion. however, why does the majority still not give religion up? becasue simply
a) it doesn't comfort anyone about death
b)how one grows up and what the person is taught early on is very important psychologically in terms of belief
I'm sorry if this sounds cold to anyone, but this is a subject i've always wondered about. I'm not some goth kid who hates everything, or some deluded indivisual, just a normal person who had too much time to think about this shit.
I don't beleive in god, but i understand why it is important to many and i respect that.
well, that's a good 7 minutes wasted.
happy new years
