You don't need to no...

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, but with all the agro I have been getting from some of the inbreeds on this site i have been staying away, only came on because some one from NG sent me a tune and I thought whilst I was here I would check the threads.. nice to see that there hasn't been loads of angryness.. at least in this thread.

So in answer to your question, you can send them all in one email, you can send them all in many emails.

Last chance to get them in is the next couple of weeks because we are going to start eliminating the tracks soon :)

You have many categories, maybe you can add also a prize for originality (like combination of unexpected styles or funny lyrics ... you can find something).

Anyway, speaking of busy schedule, I just moved to another country and I'm getting married (for the second time ... so much papers to translate), meanwhile I'm looking for a job and I just finished my album :))
I know, having 2 kids is a lot of responsibility, wish all the best for you and them.

Well the money is not coming directly from nexus, its coming from http://indiemusicworks.com and bear in the woods studios, the other prizes are however... we are going to have prizes for best of genre (min of 5 tracks submitted to that genre) and the top song gets a t-shirt, the top tracks overall will get things like mugs, mousemats etc etc.. its all going to be a laugh..

the competition is just for fun and a way to bring new people in to comunicate to each other..

09 we are going to go back to the way we did things in 07.. people just nominate what they hear on the station and like... 08 was an experimental year of trying to get the artists to send in their music themselves.. we have had a fair few submissions, but the listeners in general are not enjoying the competition as much as last year... because they can't just hear a song and go.. THAT ONE.. and nominate it.

Hey at least we tried something new right? People still get prizes, and the added bonus this year of getting money.. hoepfully next year we can get even more people envolved, with bigger prizes, maybe even a sponsership from some some sorta hardware manufacturer or something..

but thats all for the future.. for now.. get your submissions in!! :)

Stop bumping this thread, if people aren't responding to it, it's for a reason.

4 Posts, and I have no troll... People are reading it, people are responding, some people have got the wrong end of the stick, so i respond when i can, I responded to each person in a new post.. instead of one big wall of text... does that offend you? People asked questions and responded to the thread however i do not check NG much.. By the way thanks for bumping my thread for me :)

Some new news for you all, Bear in the woods Music has offered another $100 to the prize, so a total of $300 to the winner.

1) You win $200 and get exposure
2) you win and even if you get cheated out of your winnings (which I don't think will happen), you still get free exposure.
3) You lose and you still get exposure.

Either way, you win something (exposure, money, or both)
Honestly, if you think your music is "Professional" quality, than just submit it to professional studios to get signed and forgot this competition (if copyright issues of your tune is such a huge issue)...but right now i think everyone participating is in the learning stages of music and is content with giving free music out to gain exposure in return. We can't jump too fast in thinking we actually deserve money for our music. Build the exposure and the money will come down the road. Just be happy that this competitions is giving money away.

Bye for now

Hehe thank you.

The $200 dollars is actually coming from IMW (indiemusicworks.com) they put that up for us. We did actually have talks with Peavey and Berhinger too.. peavey were very interested in the compeition and if we could have got LOADS of submissions by now they would have put forward $1000 towards some of their stock... hopefully they will put something forward next year

I will add them to the player in time, ifact i will aim to do it today as i have had quite a few new submissions in the last couple of weeks, and not a second to upload them.

At 8/17/08 01:46 PM, Syntrus wrote: You had me interested around the point where you said you would play unsigned artists....

Thats what we mostly play, unless we have requests otherwise

All we have to do is email you correct?

Aye :)

Now do we email you a link? Or the entire .mp3/.wav file?

Either a link to where the file can be downloaded or the actual MP3

What is the demographic, or "target audience" of Nexus radio?

We have a wide age range, from the teens, to the 50's... I think our oldest listener is 65, the youngest is 14.

All the shows are different, and draw in different crowed, however ther eare some listeners who are there for every show and they like the variety of music and DJ.

How does Nexus radio help the audio artist community of Newgrounds?

We play your tracks, when people ask who it is, where they can be found, we inform them where they can find you... if the artist has a CD for sale we include a "link" in the mp3 to where the CD can be bought, and all they have to do is press the BUY NOW on the CURRENTLY PLAYING page and it links to wherever they are buying.

All airplay is good airplay, its all promo.. and we are building to bigger things too.. were just slowly trying to build ourselves up. We are eventually planning to have Gigs, clubnights, and festivals... I occasionally DJ at a Bar and do a Nexus Radio unsigned artist night, and we often get people interested that way too.

How many listeners can we expect?

Depends on the show, the night, the weather.. the maximum listeners we have had listening at one time is 30, in truth we average 15-20 max connections.. however throuout the night we hit about 50-70 different people, plus we re-run some of the shows and you get extra listeners that way.

We are still small, but we are building ourselves up... we constantly get new listners, some come once, some come every now and then, some come every week, some come to every show, and some are so dedicated that they even listen to the re-runs and autoshows.

Our primarly concern is promoting the unsigned artist, and we are doing our very very best to get to a financial position where we can host live events (like in clubs etc), get bands in etc etc..

We offer an interview service as well. which can be either live through teamspeak, pre-recorded, or live in one of the studios.

We had the semi famous Tony from the SKADOWS come do some live music for us... they were quite a big ska band back in the 70's mainly in europe and canada.. not so much england or america.

Anyway i am probably boring you to tears so i will shut up now. Hope to recieve some tracks from you soon!

and what format do yu accept ? mp3 ? wav ? 16 or 24 bit ... ?

Mp3, any bitrate, higher quality the better.

Anyone can submit their tracks.. just email competitions@nexusradio.co.uk include the song, and in the body of the email the ARTIST, TITLE, and GENRE

What we will do with the song? Well it will be displayed on the nexus radio site, on the SOTY page (i cant get the player to work in firefox only IE for some reason) http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/forum/soty20 08.php

The song will also get airplay on the nexus radio shows, and if it wins the competition gets the owner $200 and some other prizes.

With the users permission the top 15 tracks of the year will be made into a promotional CD that will be sent to all the users that were in the top 15, and used in future competition prizes. However that will only happen with the users permission, most people wont have a problem with this but i am sur ethe odd one might.

We will in no way own any rights to these tunes, other than to play them out on nexus radio, promote you, and display them on the SOTY2008 page. There is no download option on the SOTY2008 page either.

Yes but you already have a thread about it and there's no reason to make another. Quit spamming

Unfourtuantly NEWGROUNDS doesn't offer the EDIT feature, so I couldn't EDIT the first post on the contest thread... and people barely even read the whole first post let alone scrolling down to read updated prizes... so I let the old contest thread DIE and made a new one, I got a few extra submissions from it... so i guess its been worth it

Its fine, i know most people here are pre-pubescent nay sayers with nothing better to do than try and belittle others to make themselves feel more important than the sad little wankers that they are.

Do you not want $200 just for doing what you love? No? All you have to do is go to the effort of sending the track in, and let the people do the rest. Too affraid? is that it?

Remember anyone who DOES want $200 send an email to:

Please include the track you would like to submit (you can submit as many as you like) and also include this information:

We could make a new post every week, but we thought we would be decent and keep it all in one thread... and anyoen who wants to send us their music to play is more than welcome to. We already play lots of NG artists, and lots of msuic from other OMD's on the web too. We have a fair few NG artists who have submitted their music to the SOTY competition too, and i am sure they would love your support.

However you seem more concerned with being negative and finding flaws in everything so i am sure they wont get any support from you.

A mug and a few little other bits and bobs..

#2 and # 3 overall get a mug and bumper sticker

In the individual Genre sections... (minimum of 5 tracks required in each genre to recieve a genre prize)

#1 will recieve a hat and mug
#2 and #3 recieve a bumper sticker.

To read more on the competition please read this thread on Newgrounds: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/9362 09

examples of the clothes are on http://www.cafepress.com/nexusradio - last years winner recieved this t-shirt: http://www.cafepress.com/NexusRadio.1636 35072 (different image on both sides) - this year we hope to make an even better one.

Also depending on the contests popularity we are planning on making a CD of the top 15 or so tracks of the year (with the artists permission of course) that will be used for artist promo, possibley prizes to the top 3 overall, future prizes in other competitions. We wont ever sell this CD unless all artists who allowed us to put their tracks on there are okay with it. And the money will only go into future competitions cos right now it all comes out of my own pocket...

Also if you win a couple of prizes... say you win a bumper sticker and a mug.. but you really want the hat.. you can exchange as long as the prizes you have are of the same value or more.

The more popular this contest gets the better the prizes will become... also we are hoping people will donate some prizes for the competition to.

To donate a prize please contat: wizardsleeve@nexusradio.co.uk

i'm sure they can't.

Thats debateable... if you have a soundcard which does onboard processing.. 4gb of 800mhz+ ram lots of free hd space and a Quad core processor u shouldn't have many problems at all

infact i have a half decent soundcard, 2gb of 800mhz ram and a 3.2 ghz dual core athlon 64 dual core and i can run loads of instances of z3ta, absynth 3, a kontact, reverb, voxengo gliss eq on most if not all channels, etc etc etc and i don't use anywhere near 50% processing power...

but as i Said FL uses more processing power to do stuff because its a weaker program... and most FL users are probably using creative sound blasters or audigys or something like that..

If thats the case.. bounce the channels down to audio as I suggested...

Hey NMW was great to see you there last night.. I hope to see you there again tonight and at all the other great nexus shows!!!

Tonight on N3XUS we will be celebrating the birth of even more new features around the site.

Firstly on our "Now Playing" page: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/ we have introduced a little feature at the top that gives some more information about the artist, if we have it some album art will display, and also if we have been supplied links to where people can buy the album this will display as well.

Also links to omd's websites etc will be displayed... pretty fantastic stuff even if i do say so myself.

ON TOP of all that there is something even more SPECIAL! What can be more special than that I hear you ask? Well... I have introduced a simple RATING system so that people can rate the tune that is playing, or that they request (http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/pl aylist.php?limit=100) out of 5!

So in addition to our top 100 requests chart we also have a top 20 by User ratings chart (that I will make bigger once we have had more ratings): http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/top 20rating.php

We have also just started SCROBBLING To LASTFM so you can see if you have been played and how many times each song you have played has played.. however this has only just been set up and i had a problem where it scrobbled the same track multiple times for some reason.. but once all the DJ's have this simple little feature set up the artists played should even out a bit. Since setting this up we have already played 746 different artists!!!!

To see the last FM page: http://www.last.fm/user/N3XUSRADIO - ADD us as a friend!!!!

So we technically have 3 charts!

TOP 100 Requests: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/liv echart.php (only available with active/auto DJ currently)
TOP 20 By User Ratings: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/top 20rating.php (only available with active/auto DJ currently)
LAST FM CHART: http://www.last.fm/user/N3XUSRADIO

All exciting stuff eh?

Well anyway i hope you will come experiment these features with me tonight from 8PM GMT (3PM EST) till about midnight.

Because FL obviously hasn't changed in 5 years... -_-'

Did i say that it hadn't? and to be honest i had a look at 7 a few months back.. not much seemed to have changed... and my point was that my comp back then was a few years old and the way FL dealt with VST's was not very well... in comparisson to Cubase...

FL sucks either way... its a nice easy to use simple sampler/sequencer.. and some people get some alright results with it.. but if i say anything else we will end up in another fl debate and i really cant be bothered with that...
