COMPLETE edition of the interactive "choose next panel" comic
4.07 / 5.00 10,082 ViewsAlright, sorry it took me so long to show any progress. I kept redrawing and redrawing this over and over again. This is the basic sketch, I still need to lay down the linework and do the flats. Now I get some caffiene in my system, go to work, and finish this later today. I'll post the actual image in the board when it's finshed, for now I'll save you guys some space:

Alright, man. I'll get right on it. I need an excuse to draw something other than my comic.
Hi, my name's Vee. I'd be willing to join your collab. I haven't sumbitted anything to Newgrounds outside of music for a while, so I'm sure this would be a nice change. I'm not really one to watch the show, but I do know of the rather rabid fanbase the series has. And I'm also surprised nobody has chosen this combo, so what would you say if I chose Wakfu (the French TV series) with Finn and Jake? Or I could use my own style. Choose which one you'd like. Some examples of my usual drawing styles are below.
Thanks, Vee.
Hi, my name's Vee. You were saying you wanted music for certain level themes in the game, right? I mostly work in orchestral compositions (using traditional instruments, not synths or such), and tend to create themed tracks around specific emotions. If you want you could give me an idea to work around, and within a day I could give you a proof of work. You could also check my profile for previous works, though most of them are out of date. I'd like to find some place for my music, and I'm sure you could find a place for some of my pre-existing tracks. Either reply back or PM me with the information, I'd be happy to work with you.
Thanks, Vee.
Your shading is getting amazingly good for such simple drawings. The thing is though, the anatomy makes them look amateurish. Try focusing on that and not using "macaroni" elbows.
(Image didn't upload. I feel like an idiot.)
Things are coming along slowly but surely. Had a lot of stuff to do recently, and had to drop of on the Oinsreach show (so sorry about that John!). Anyways, WCC is coming along, even if it's at the pace of plate tectonics. Recently did the redesigned sketch of Marcy's daughter, Kyra Wendell. Should be finished sometime either this week or next. Related Linework Sketch:
Getting better with perspective. As a few more tips, try drawing a vehicle of some sort. Boats and tractor trailers are easy because they have a lot of long, flat, boxy sections. Try drawing an over head cab Mercedes Benz tractor trailer or a 1969 Dodge Charger from a sort of corner view to get the hand of it. Next, once you're able to get an acceptable vehicle, try drawing a room from that same perspective. It's harder to try with the vehicles first, so it gives you more of a feeling for the angles you need. Conversely, it also makes it slightly harder. But don't get discouraged! Just erase and redraw the lines! I think what you're afraid of doing is showing a rough product, and feel that erasing smudges or blurs some of it. Don't worry about that. Most professional artists do a rough sketch, darken the lines they need, trace it over again, and then ink and colour it. You don't even need to do that latter half though. All you need to do is worry about getting those dimensions and that perspective. Keep going man!
Niiiiiiice. Definitely seeing some improvement here. As a little more advice, when you draw a character from multiple perspectives, try using a wire skeleton. Essentially just draw a stickman with no head yet, then add circles where the joints would be. Afterwards, use ovals to get the basic muscle structure, and then for really cut, bulgin', burly dudes layer over the ovals with sharper angles that extend out slightly more. Just stare at your forearm every few seconds to get the basic shape while you sketch it. The smae thing applies to the calves, but just indent for the back of the knee. Keep going man, I wanna see a full-fledged five page comic from you!
While having roadblocks with an animation I decided to focus more time on WCC. The end result is that a wrote down about half of the main storyline already and finished a few character designs. As of now I have the finalised current and future designs of Marcy, Renee, Tyde, and the cats. I've also finished the uncoloured current design for David, another new character being added into the mix. Decided to show the back iew as the "nude" view so that people can see his build without feeling awkward.
Well, I've got quite a few things I'm working on, but I'd be more than happy to do backgrounds and character designs. To be honest, faeries have always been one thing I've had a soft spot for (and I'm a dude that hates a lot of "cute" things). Give me an idea of what you need and I'll get to drawing all of those beautiful bright flowery forest scenes.

I kept the joints but erased the wire skeleton. I notice now I like the "talk to the hand" pose a bit too much.

Anyway, here's afew megaman drawings. I tried drawing in other poses. The sliiiiiiiiide....And a jump.
Dat Shading on Dr. Light's face. Even with the saturation low because of the scanner, I can see a lot of work put into that shading. That's something not a lot of people are good at, and what just did is a good example of simple shading. Keep that up, and you'll be making comics in no time!
I was hoping to keep this veiled till I finished it, but since the thing about it is the word bubbles and paneling anyways, I guess I'll show it.
Your art was getting better there for a while, Sweet, but now you're not improving at all. My suggestion is taking StickyNotes wherever you go, and keeping a pen in your pocket at all times. Doesn't matter if you can't erase it, just get the rough idea out. Set aside maybe thirty minutes a day to play your instrument and editing. Then divide your time between whatever else. What you really need is to find a balance between your music and your drawings. As it is, I play/record guitar tracks, draw three comics and a handful of random commissions, write two books, tutor people, and attend college all in one day. That's not bad for a ditz, and that means you can do even better than I can with my full schedule. Just try to find whatever you struggle with the most, be it school or art or music, and set the most time aside for it. When I was your age I was drawing on my hands and arms when I ran out of paper because I was in school. After school was filled with all kinds of stuff, and yet I figured out how to manage time, even though I never mastered it. JUST TRY TO PLAN AHEAD. And keep practicing! For starters, watch the old "Justice League" cartoon from the 90s to get a few references, watch some martial arts movies to find dynamic poses, and DRAW DRAW DRAW!! You've got a lot of potential, and I don't want to see another artist discouraged and quit!
Alright, so now SAI is working again and I'm doing some stuff to see how I can do paneling and word bubbles without using any special tools. As of now I'm just messing with a mini-comic to get used to this new technique. Probably going to post it here soon.
Alright, so for some reason SAI won't work. I've been cleaning my files and rearranging them, so I may have displaced some needed files from the SAI folder. I'm going to grab my old PC and re-install the program, so hopefully I don't have to move to another program like ArtRage that I'm unfamiliar with. I'd like to get this comic up and runnning, but that's going to be hard if I have to acquaint myself with a new medium and process.
Thanks for the info. About the cramped shoulders: I'm actually supposed to be taking a breath right before I sigh. Didn't feel like writing in *sigh* though so there's that. As for the chat bubbles and borders: The chat bubbles were just there to get a feel for where I wanted the dialogue. The borders aren't there because in sketch form they clutter up the image too much. Right now I'm doing first gen work. Prototyping the layout and format so to say. When I feel comfortable enough, I'll redo almost all of this with the panels being more dynamically placed. Second page is more or less the same thing, minus the clutter:
Working on Mr. West's character. She should be up soon.
Alright, so this thread is about a little comic I started a few months ago called Watercolour Crowning. The name comes from my love of watercolour painting and that it's vaguely about the characters becoming their utmost best, or to be a "Crowning Achievement" of sorts. It involves every single one of the characters from the books I'm working on, plus two new ones. So far I've only done the sketches for the first two pages and grey-scaled the first page. I'll be posting the pages accordingly as they come along. Any feedback as to design, style, and layout will be taken into consideration and more than likely replied to. I'm hoping I get this done, seeing as how I've dropped all of my other projects prematurely.
I'm a man with severe OCD when it comes to art and symmetry. I'm also great at helping out with designing things. When you look at the top of the screen shot you posted, you barely see the top banner. My suggestion is using dark colours, with a thicker banner at the top. Make the background a grunged-out pastel grey, with the dragon stretching across the whole of the banner. As for the lettering, use some like what I have posted below. Use a deep purple for the glow around the letters. Around the edges of the banner have a maroon coloured border to throw it all together and catch the viewers attention.

I was trying to upload a picture of someones head on another body. May that be or Newgrounds or really only drawn art?
Sorry if the site causes you any inconvenience. I've had my troubles with it as well. My suggestion is that you try to use Google Chrome, go to the "Submit Art" page, refresh, and then try to submit something. And as for your other question, photomanipulations are no good here. Sorry dude. We're a bit stingy about art: it has to be drawn are rendered by you, from the ground up. Photorealism is okay, photomanipulation is not. Again, I'm sorry.
Not bad, not bad at all. Yours seems cleaner than mine, even though they're both sketches. Maybe it's the pen versus brush?
I'm always in favor of seeing new viewpoints. Anyways, let's see if you guys can do Carmeline any justice. Hair is black, clothes are deep purple. Necklace is leather, and her eyes are grey. Multiple versions would be nice, and seeing as how she's only in concept art form right now I might just incorporate some of your design cues into the final version of her. Good luck!
Because I realise people never get enough of a chance to show who they look up to as a model, I'm dedicating this thread in honour of heroes. Superman, Scatman, Sir Isaac Newton, Bella Lugosi, whoever you look up to, draw them! It doesn't matter what style, just try to do that man/woman/monster some justice. As for mine, I've always liked the down-to-earth subtle humour of Simon Pegg:
It has been too long since we have had an art collab! My fellow brothers and sisters, help me in bringing back the glory of the static-art collaboration! ... The idea I was thinking was a "If 2012 had actually happened, what would Earth look like now?" kind of thing. I'm hoping to get this genre of stuff up and running again, and this is a chance to get some of your guys' art out there and scouted. The things you could use could be stuff like zombies attacking somebody, a boat sitting on top of a sand dune, or a person standing in an abandoned city street. Get creative, because we can revive a part of NG heritage with this. Image specifications are a size of 5000x5000 pixels with no background colour with a max file size of 5 MB (pretty big, right?). PM me if you get a final version and I'll give you contact info to send the pictures to. Good luck, and even greater imaginations!

Wacom CTE-440.
Well, yours is better than mine, even if it's older. I have the simple base Bamboo Splash. Still, it's easier than using my scanner and then doing linework and colouring everything with my mouse. As a tip, I suggest using old toys like G.I. Joes and Barbies for finding poses. If you think I'm joking... Well I'm not. It really works. As for drawing hands, what I do is take a small mirror and look at my hand, memorize it, then draw it. Eventually you'll pretty much know how things look if you just keep doing it over and over again.
Nice, nice. You do good work on facial proportions for the most part. But try to work more on the bodies. Most pictures people ask for ask for dynamic bodies, and no matter how much detail you put into the face, it's going to look like crap with a stickfigure-esque body attached to it. Try something simple, like a baseball player coming up to bat, or a girl with her foot on top of a soccer ball. Just keep going, you're doing good.
Is this thing still open? Cuz I've got a Christmas-themed picture I've been working on. "That girl's been in the eggnog again." I've got the prelim sketches done and scanned, just need to linework them and colour them. I'm going to be posting three images and layering them into one, so it might take a few hours.
I feel like an ass for even thinking of this... but what if we came up with a collab that makes fun of 80s Boxing movies/games? You know, like Punch-Out! and Rocky and Great Fighter... Maybe add some martial arts movie references. I think that original ideas could be thrown in (no references at all), and more than enough people know how to animate someone raising their fist. I really wonder if anyone would do this however... If it does happen... I'll call it "Ringside Shenanigans."
