Hint: IT :P
You mean book 7 of The Dark Tower series or halfway though the series?
Wizard and Glass (4) is a mammoth read, and for me, the least enjoyable of the Dark Tower books..... King admits that after he got plastered by that van, he was kinda drugged up for most of the writing. It makes sense and has a narrative, but it just seemed to have way too much detail.
The Wind Through The Keyhole (4.5), which just came out a month or so ago (I got King's audiobook - you get used to him reading after a while), kicks butt - a real treat in the epic! Like Wizard and Glass, it's another flashback story of young Roland, but with another story/fable inside of that one... now it's on to Wolves of The Calla (5), the rootenest tootenest Western of them all :3 I guess this will be my 3rd time through the whole epic...

Yeah, I did twice - once was for like 15 minutes , the other time was for almost 2 hours. Nah, it's no buzz, just a quick way to sleep. They hook a bag of neutral stuff up to your wrist or arm, then add the knockout drops when they're ready.
Sometimes they'll give you a gas too, to control precisely how long you'll be out.
Hope they fix whatever's wrong and it heals up okay - -good luck!
Ritilin seemed like a cheat at the time (for school), but Adderall looks like some serious shit... should try and bum some off the kid next door (I don't think he needs it, but I'm not him soo....).
He says if you take it, even 3 days a week using the time released capsules (which must be worse 'cause you can't split 'em), it has a definite bad effect.
Anyone out there know if Adderall can be made into worse drugs, like Meth? Seems like there's a big market for this stuff, and I don't think it's all going to poor college students....

Thanks for the elucidation, one and all... the only time I catch sight of a whistle is when I'm on NG Log, and as for others, the new layout kinda doesn't show off your whistle. I usually stick to recent blogs as opposed to the BBS, and even there, it just shows your Level, join date and BBS post count.
So there is hope of a better whistle? I'll make a concerted effort to check reviews.... seems like I get just enough time to check Under Judgement stuffs, and leave the rest for 'later'. Time to rein in my recently revived stat-whorish nature - so what if I missed a few years of logged-in voting?

Hmm, the Silver Whistle is a pretty steep requirement, especially since the main contributor to that stat, has been removed. For the most part, the Audio and Art portals have been really quiet lately. I know that review flagging does help the Whistle stat, but fractionally. How about a Normal (green) or better?
I'd be nice, sometime after they get the Portal flags back up, that the staff could take a look at this Whistle system... It's nice that there are many grades of good whistles, but only one of bad? Granted, it might help keep folks from trying to get the worst (Turd of the Day rings to mind), but wouldn't it be helpful if we knew how we're doing? Maybe a plus, minus or neutral weekly rating thing on our page might be a useful tool.

Same here. In 8th grade, we had a young married Hispanic (2nd generation) lady, who used to wear such pretty dresses. Pleasant disposition, long, dark, nicely arranged hair. Wonder if she's still teaching....
Anyway, the kicker was, she'd usually end up (during the warm months) wearing thin, light dresses, with different colored underwear, which would always seem to be visible. She acted a fine lady, and wouldn't wear anything too short (though one or two of her dresses ended up not being worn - thanks VP for being a fashion critic).... but wearing green panties under an off white summer dress was kinda noticeable.
Many a tent were erected in art class :)

Yeah, Das Boot and Session 9 are very compelling - I'm over 30, so any characterization or exposition gets easily absorbed.
The Shrine- Great flick that doesn't really capture your attention until midway through like Session 9 (although a completely different Horror subgenre in itself). Once again, once it gains momentum it never stops.
Have to look into that one. Dr. Strangelove and some of Kubrick's other flicks also qualify.
And as for the first Star Trek movie? It is utter shit unless you use the FFWD button go past all those stupid model shots and 'special effects'... some folks just left the theater (ya, I'm that old)! It's like they expected the audience to be stoned into submission or something. Script was kinda a one trick pony too. Still love the Trek's, EXCEPT the Enterprise series with Scott Bakula - that was a waste of electricity :(
Well, they do sell pizza dough completely frozen, and it's up to the buyer to let it thaw and form before kneading and baking....

You bring up a lot of subjects... Every farmer knows of Monsanto, and it's ownership of its brand GM soybean - NO ONE is permitted to use any other kind in the US, claiming it can cross pollinate and infringe its patent. Anything that can grow in Round-Up can't be good, mainly because that plant killer is very toxic to the human body.
You say corporations are out of control. They are the ones IN control, and have been for many decades. I believe they are all complicit. The worst corporation by far is the Federal Reserve, which is a privately held company, that tells our Treasury and Mint how much money to produce and who gets it (look for The American Dream toon on YouTube).
I haven't seen this movie, but I can assure you, the more devastating facts are omitted. No one movie will tell you all the truth, or be able to. Suffice it to day, the privileged agents of these entities are the true rulers of our (Western world) and have been, in one form or another, for countless centuries. Take it from someone who's been in the media, they will watch and act if you get out of line..... why else would the Islamic 'extremists' make such a fuss over our way of life? Because they can see it is slavery and it will expand to all corners of the globe.
I'm done beating this dead horse, but if you could put up an imdb/wiki link to the movie, I'm sure it will help soften the blow for what the "Network" has in store for us.
Ok Portal Mods, what say you to this? Recently made account featuring a swf video of a game trailer - legit or not?
Age of Barbarian mix Rpg element, with intense hack'n slash action!
My Stars Games is the user pic on the account that submitted this, but it doesn't jibe in anyway with the content - there's also 3 fans, no reviews, posts or other data and this is the only submission.... tell me this isn't spam account, bro.

"Chemical widely used in antibacterial hand soaps (and toothpaste) may impair muscle function".... this article popped up, right after I ranted about the drug in the Med Thread.
Best advice would be to stop using it, or any other product that contains Triclosan. Maybe use it once week under the nails, and rinse quickly - this stuff kills bugs fast, and loves to bypass the oil on your skin to get into the blood stream.

I had to go to a doctor's office yesterday night.... this morning I woke up coughing my brains out and my head was stuffed up so bad, my left ear is clogged (even though I slept on my right, sensing the oncoming congestion). How did this happen? Well, the staff were vacuuming and leaving, not even halfway through my required insurance 'examination'... and there were several 'Air Wicks' plugged in the office.
These stink bombs are loaded with chemicals and a drug that can severely affect your health - here's a list of some of what got me the other night, no doubt made worse by unchanged HVAC air filters and the vacuuming.
It's just like anti-bacterial soap: drugs you can buy without a prescription, that can cause long term damage. They even use the active ingredient in toothpaste, where is can be easily absorbed into the blood stream.
The biggest health risk to the Western World, is the unregulated use of chemicals, made by a powerful, connected industry.

Trouble with the ticker? What does the medication do for you? I'm glad to hear you're getting off the stuff though - staying on a single drug for too long can lead to severe damage.
My father was on a blood pressure medication for 6 years, without checking with his 'Primary Doctor' or his Nephrologist... now he's on dialysis 3 days a week and has a bunch of plastic tubes inside his arm, so they can keep sticking him there. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I have to peel two huge piles of tape from his already battered and vacuumed arms. And to add to the fun, if he gets a 'leak' in the middle of the night, he could die from loss of blood without even noticing.

Could this reclusive nature be attributed to Asperger's? Good Lord, over 3 million hits just this weekend, for a six second retread of a (guessing) synchronized swimming grimace. If she ever finds out about this clip, she should get over half what the poster made on ad-rev money - she'll need the bread for psychological counseling.
To be fair, the first frame of the video alone is all that impacts ya, and in that sport, you have to look like you're giving a blow job to each and every judge to score well.... as if the act of trying to do ballet in the water wasn't hard enough. I'm sure there are even spookier clips like that from the 80's (or 90's or whenever the hell they made that an olympic sport).
Anyone care to guess how much the YT poster made on that single clip (at the expense of some girl's pride)?

I was bangin mah head, when Metallica was still killing the "all you can eat' salad bar at Burger King, and splitting burgers between them. So I say howdy, I hope you all do fine!
But I had to come because this lyric translation just twisted my nipple, and I had to share. I'm not dedicated enough to run a foreign lyric sheet through Google Translate, let alone try and accept unknown words while I'm trying to groove (a moral setback on my part).

Our world isn't ready for the practical application of genetic tomfoolery. Playing with our food supply and generations of humans who eat this stuff (or any other chemical), is one of the greatest tragedies, since humans began to transport plants and animals outside their habitats. In time and in wisdom, we may yet tinker with what nature has gifted us with.... after we figured out what went wrong (sudden appearance of cancer and autism and the rise of chemical use).
It sounds like you had an unfortunate crash course in how the American medical system 'works'. Wish this thread the best of luck.
I've glimpsed sight of medical and psychological students here, as well as some older, stranger folk, who could contribute quite well to this thread. And let's don't forget the legions of paper-pushers, lawyers, secretaries and industries who also work in the medical field - this is where they should all come to compare notes.
...but you know, when you shoot your mouth off in a place t\like this, it can only mean one thing: dick.
It means dick. When someone steals from you or destroys what's most precious, that's offensive. And as time goes by, we are doing less of it and our governments are doing more.
The one thing political correctness ever did, was to unite civilians together, to get back some of what we used to call "the common cause", which was Americans helping Americans and others.... to treat each other the same when passing by on the street.
What I see now is a bunch of scared, excessively rich individuals, who choose not to be American, by ignoring the "99%" completely. These self-insulated, delusional people, are the most dangerous force the modern world has ever seen. When a handful of people control tens of trillions of dollars, the nations of the world are but security guards to their empires.
Now that's fucking offensive.

The mass media won't dare to be truthful, so it's up to us to be true to our nature and others, before we all look and act the same. To be politically correct is what the world governments and bankers want - if we all have the same pre-formed opinions, we are that much easier to control.
