If they can animate it or make it do tricks, I can die happy, otherwise this is a step down for a website dedicated to creativity.

There HAS to be fuckable robots in Japan. They just don't put out YouTube videos of it. Maybe the Yakuza have cornered the market on those... Eh, lawyers and safety nuts wouldn't allow it, 'cause the servos might get all feisty and crush it's owner/user/'john'.

Not really. "Time" as we know it is just a measurement of the accumulation of many different factors with many different relationships. It's nonlinear, so its' not possible to "fold" without accounting for every asset and interaction.

This.

What could be possible is reconstructing matter or sending simple messages through 'time".

I will say that Carl Sagan was high as a kite, but despite his terrible, monotone voice on so many 20th century PBS specials, he was definitely on to something.

Some company invented a robotic, neurologically activated "shippo" or tail, with a happiness app, apparently. I guess it's a pun, but I thought that was the cat's ass. I've seen girls and a few poofy guys wear tails in my time, but none with batteries.

This is the LA Times article on the product, and this is the YouTube of it. The chick in the video is Japanese... her facial acting alone is worth the peep.

I'm thinking, that if I wanted to hook up with some random, fellow, female product owner, I'd reverse engineer the thing into something far more nefarious..... For some reason, I'm thinking back to an old West coast, erotic comic book called Click!

So, past the above points, I'm lost - is there really a market for this, probably rather expensive, affectation? The only market I can see is for affluent women in college, who only want to mingle with wimpy affluent bisexuals.... which might be an insult to bisexuals, IDK... It'd make one wack Kickstarter pitch.

The Sword of The Samurai Cat by Mark E. Rogers. He's probably a better artist than a novelist, but it's damn funny at times, if a bit dated. Plenty of death by swords and conventional arms, in unconventional circumstances.

Miaowara Tomokato and his nephew came from 16th century Japan to a Charlton Heston themed version of late 20th century America, to avenge the death of his master. Yeah they're furries by modern standards, but they seem to be treated as normal in this conflict ridden universe they're in.

What can I say, I'm slumming it - life's too damn serious for serious novels now anyway.

True, but how many artists were and still on board with NG from that time period? Enough to fill a book. The first volume can include NG webpages, history... the later two volumes could be patterned the same way, only with newer things to see...

As for the Art Book thing, I don't think there would be much incentive to buy an art book that was just "the stuff you can already find on the Art Portal, only now on paper!" There's already a section in the art portal to show off the best art from over the years, and I don't think that a book would enhance that at all.

I agree. but the artists whose work would be showcased have improved - plus having a new AND old classics from various Artists, would be a record I would like to own.

The art being made specifically for the book enhances its appeal, I think, from a consumer perspective.

Precisely. This can work!

We were thinking that making a book with a selection of art to showcase Newgrounds artists might be a good idea.
Like Spectrum books, Illustration 101 books, etc. ... and run in a similar manner as the Writing Anthology.

Okay, so you're thinking something under 20$ to produce at... what volume? Remember, these are full color pages, for the most part, it ain't gonna be cheap.

Naturally the project would be open to all artists, possibly with some PMs to certain popular illustrators and animators.
The submissions could be brand-spanking new pics for the book (like the Worm project), or simply highlighted pics from the portal, all grouped together by similar styles.

Hell, if I was gonna commit myself to something like this... how about 'The Best Of 1995-2000, 01-06, 07-12 [Three Volumes] with the new submissions dispersed throughout (maybe even three concepts a volume... three worms?). Hmm, every six years... has a bent appeal to it :3

... and that's all I'm going to say for the time being. I'm hoping the following discussion could flesh-out the idea more, and help decide whether such a project is feasible, and whether the community would like to take part/shell out some cash.

Okay... yeah, so do a Kickstarter asking a modest amount for the first volume! But don't put it up till you get the range of covers, layout... the first volume's selections, all settled :3

Best wishes - I do so love the Art Portal... 'cause the dA alternative to too horrible to speak of :P

The Stephen King movies/miniseries never do the books justice. Usually they are pretty atrocious in my opinion. The only one that came close was Misery, but even then there were some psychological aspects missing and the ending of the movie was changed from the book, even though it would have been just as easy to do the book ending, which was so much better.

Guess you already got a video camera... what type? Will it export to your current computer setup? If you answered Yes to the last question, than you should have no worries (as long as you got enough HD and RAM to process things - good time to figure out what doesn't need to run in the background.

If you have subjects willing to play their roles well, or subjects worth shooting, then yer better than halfway there. Spend time with the camera: learn to white balance and focus (they never seem to make cameras with an 'on demand' focus button anymore, so the auto focus doesn't keep twitching around).

Frequent experimentation is key. The onboard mic (and definitely light, if there is one) are usually limited - if you happen to have a favorite microphone(s), it might be worth plugging into the camera (if you can and have the right adapter(s) that won't pick up electronic noise)... handling the camera, even on a good tripod, can sometimes pick up you handling it.
