A good question. I'd have to think foreigners (or government spooks) would be the only ones who would want to hurt civilians.

Are they trying to use terror to attempt to start campaigns to revoke the peoples civil liberties? I just got this weird ass feeling man.

Same here dude. I'd gladly take the chance on getting fragged in some mindless attack, than to lose any more freedoms.

Response to: Can I Put Ads In Html5 Games? Posted April 14th, 2013 in Where is / How to?

At 4/11/13 08:32 PM, farflamex wrote: Are ads only for Flash games? Is there some way to put ads under my game on my page I'm creating for my game?

That's a good question. Same question could be applied to video submissions and html5 movies as well. Tom had mentioned in a news post (some time ago), that some special means would be deployed to compensate for a lack of in-game and in-movie ads.. but I can't see that happening. Tom has considered what you've suggested in the past, but has a set way of looking at the layout of this site.

The real question is, can html5 run a Flash ad? I imagine if you can link to a gif or jpg image, that opens a new browser tab once clicked, then theoretically yes, you can run an ad... but is that something the ad company will support?

Sorry, I don't have any good answers for you, but if you haven't already, Tom's current news post on the upper-left hand side of the Front page, deals directly with html5 content.... ask there, or be patient and wait for a more detailed response here. Other help with html5 can be found in the Developers & Programmers area of the BBS/Community page, though it's still a new programming field, that needs to build a following there.

Hey the same for me. html5 is constantly dicking up my computer. I haven't tried to build with it yet but other people's games built in it are always crashing my browser or freezing shit up. I avoid html5 games at all costs now.

I'm on an 11 y/o laptop with limited and outdated drivers. My biggest problem with HTML5 is memory usage, second is the audio cutting out. How dependent is HTML5 on the capabilities of the hardware? I don't even have DirectX support on FF 20...

Hope Tom sees that post I made about an under judgement gauge/meter/alert system..... the Portal is still swamped, and I spotted a few university/college animations in there too! These kids want and need reviews to hone their craft. Hope everything works out well, and everyone gets a fair score and/or review :\

Response to: BattleBlock Theater now Available! Posted April 4th, 2013 in NG News

Epic idea for The 'Classic' Portal: At times like this, when there's a lot of submissions rolling in, I feel trapped. I like to take the time, to enjoy the Daily Top 5 and then vote on new submissions, but when things get backed up (as they are now), my time feels wasted on running from one vid or game to the other, in hopes I don't miss anything!

Install a traffic congestion meter. When there's 50 new submissions in the Portal, still under judgement, that's your **Red Alert**, Front page warning system, to let the audience know there's a dire need to vote, so everything gets properly vetted, reviewed or just plain enjoyed! Even, "There are 67 new movies and 54 new games now Under Judgement" on the Front Page would be perfectly satisfactory.

As a small farmer who knows a lot of big farmers, Monsanto is evil. They are making all soybeans made by God, extinct for agricultural use in the US. How? If natural soybeans in the same county as someone who grows their engineered brand, they come after you crying patent infringement (potential cross-pollination).

If you buy their seed, it's loaded with the nastiest weeds you can think of. And the only thing to get rid of these mega-weeds? You guessed it, very expensive Monsanto Round-Up, which is toxic as hell. Get half a sprayed drop in your mouth, you'll shit brown rain for 2 days :|

That company is the poster-child of everything that's wrong with the United States. I love capitalism, hard work and competition, but these monsters have gone above and beyond what any large corporation's ever done to make a buck. They control our defective elected puppets, and are sticking a middle finger up at the ground, which we need clean to survive.

Sorry I didn't read this thread all the way, but I did read the scant few stories on the farce that is now law. Monsanto: Public Enemy #1

That reminds me of something I wanted to say in my first post but didn't because I forget (I usually forget something...): If they're doing this, then they SHOULD have walls between the stalls, you know? Not just for the game, but in general, because I think it's creepy if there's a row of urinals and no walls in between. It's just....it's just creepy....whether there's something to distract the other people or not.

It's a fair point. I just miss the days when all you needed to flush a toilet or a urinal was water pressure. Now they got these rather pricey battery operated auto-flushers... when they go bad, you either can't flush or the valve sticks open and runs water constantly :\

Dividers for urinals are okay I guess, but it's just one more thing to get graffiti, sticky and stinky. Anything beats 'gang-urinals' though, even if they are classy.

Is there anyway something like that could be set up this year (in absence of an office party)? Maybe the mods and some of the staff could take turns going on the webcam, showcase their favorites, spread a little gossip?

Four days remain to contribute to the NATA Prize Fund, I would really like to see this get as big as possible because big prizes ensure big participation! The Open Round begins on April 1st, everyone who likes to animate should give it a shot and see what happens.

I really hope you can go above and beyond the goal, this would really suck badly if this wasn't funded to completion. The incentives offered are well worth the contribution!

While we're on the topic, there's no way to view all user generated submissions by a specific user either, only the latest selection. That would be nice.

You have to go to the page that created the content to do pretty much anything. I've been using computers longer than most users here have been alive :| The level and quality of software functionality, to manipulate what we put into these things, should be getting better, not worse. NG has great standalone ideas, but they're not deploying them well.

I don't require or expect any special privilege as a supporter, and hope the new functionality will benefit the users as well as the producers of NG. In the spirit of Thomas Paine, I'd say privilege breeds inequities aimed squarely at our souls.

The most notable new features (social networking) lend themselves to reliable contact, especially to the collaborating producers here. Perhaps we could get a specific start time? You might think the outage might be a minute or three, but what if something gets shuffled incorrectly? One less variable, by setting a start time, may help save someones time and prevent data-loss.
