No, Tony, they don't.

The whole planet used to be happy with the accomplishments of America, especially its epic break from the Crown of England, something unprecedented in human history.

Now I think the 4th is celebrated overseas, by folks who light our flag on fire and do a little dance.

Maybe we should just let the BBS be it's own headless beast. There might come a day, where NG makes the news or something, then there'll be a lot of activity in a short space of time. The quality of posts here seems to be improving again, maybe the trend will hold, and attract more members and new people.

To be fair it probably wasn't near that fast, but it did smash a pretty huge crater in the side of the truck. It was a regular cab 1999 ford, and I didn't really get any bad injuries.

My neck and back is still a little sore, but it's not like "ohmahgerd I need medical attention"

Well, I was told you got about a week to get to the hospital, so they can at least shoot some x-rays at your back and neck, otherwise, they get pissy and may not pay the whole thing. If you start getting headaches, or hear weird shit when you move around, like cricking and cracking, go get checked out. Unless you got some kinda healthcare insurance from your job, you might be suffering later on with no way to take care of it.

I had severe contusions (massive bruising) all over my left side from an accident. 6 full days later while sitting on a lawnmower, I started to feel it. Within 2 hours, the fucking pain made me think my kidney or something got damaged. Next morning I went and got a CT done... 8 shitty hours later they said I was fine, but my neck and back had hellacious disc damage, and they turned out to be awfully correct :|

Neck started to lock up, unless I slept on it just so, lower back... I picked up a log (not even close to heavy), and the damaged disc just ruptured. The disc pressed on the spinal nerve, and the pain was indescribable. Took almost 2 hours just to get out of bed, and 3 days to settle down. Now I know how a grown man can cry and scream out like that, in the ER a few weeks before.

I'm just going to drop this abandoned puppy right here :| "DOJ Sends Secret 'Peacekeepers' To Where Martin Was Killed" is the headline, and (allegedly) has DOJ documents saying, they had their boys boots on the ground PDQ, to make sure the press had something to report about... which were local efforts to create a fuss over this.. with our tax dollars.

Mainstream press ain't gonna make a fuss over the DOJ papers... why gag the golden goose (ratings) the administration promised? The press is corporate owned, and they report to shareholders, not the public... we get what sells, nothing else!

Murder in the US is a dime a dozen, and has become the cannon fodder of what used to be our local news. Go back 20-30 years ago, and TV news looked a shit-load different; they had it packed with news, real stuff, not fabricated fluff pieces or celebrity shenanigans. They also sure as shit didn't have jury trials on TV, they had court artists color-sketch pictures of the proceedings (to protect the jurors and witnesses)!! And the murder rate was even higher then, before TV made us afraid to go outside, except to buy shit we don't need.

Granted, I'm the last person who should be posting about this, since I saw none of the (show) trial on the idiot box. But I do know this whole thing stinks of a setup. We got North Koran ships trading missile parts through the Panama Canal, a bona fide US propaganda machine just let loose in our country, and a deficit that mysteriously stalled a few million bucks from the government mandated cut-off limit.

Oh! Look over here <==!!11!, while the biggest ass-rape of the last free nation on Earth goes on, all around us. Our administration is playing a cheap shell game with us, just to make sure we're under their heel, black, white and hispanic alike. Sucks some poor kid got shot, but I sure as shit ain't gonna lose my inalienable civil rights over it!!!! Damn all those who took advantage of this terrible (isolated and very local) situation.

It was never funny, but Zimmerman is completely overrated. We need to move on from this guy.
Zimmerman is one of the many, many people who shot an unarmed teenager who was supposedly acting unruly and violent. This case just got a lot of attention out of luck, really.

Wasn't luck, it was a case cherry-picked by the DOJ. They had a team from their own "Community Relations Service", to create civil unrest and protests calling this a racial issue... allegedly. Considering the unprecedented press coverage on a non-celebrity case, this might actually be part of a wider push, to instigate racial conflicts between our citizens. Why? No fucking clue. But here's the smoking gun that the rest of the so-called free press refused to reveal... if these are actual DOJ papers being quoted, I'd say more brain-washing is going on... again.

Not to mention I do genuinely love TNG, and all the TNG movies were really good in my eyes

They certainly were not bad, but I felt the two Captains meeting in "Generations" was a little forced and/or awkward. Why would Jim Kirk be happier on Earth, when he spent so much time in space? The problem is "Enterprise". It bombed so badly with the core audience, you have to wonder, how they'll try to beat this "old dead horse" of a property (minus the new movies), back into action. I liked all the previous producers of Trek, but didn't care for Berman, he just... didn't get it sometimes.

But this is all... academic, until there's lobbying campaign to get behind... and even then, look at TOS and Firefly, who did have a grassroots fan-base. *raspberry* all for naught.

Still my favourite Star Trek, though.

Very likely true, Gene was a lover not a fighter. Making peace always looks boring, but he did he good job making it look interesting, even with TNG. But like the plot of the old movie "Forbidden Planet", no matter how far advanced we become, we're still fragile animals at the mercy of a corporeal existence.

Yeah, DS9's a real pearl, plenty to like about it, especially the realism.

Response to: If Star Trek Ever Comes Back To Tv Posted July 16th, 2013 in General

Seems unlikely, since the entire canon series got broken by Nero and old Spock's time traveling shenanigans. "Enterprise" the series was a complete waste of time, and time will tell if the movies can hold their own, against the formidable past Star Trek series/movies.

I would like to see the series return, either after or before Picard's reign, but as usual, politics trump morality, which seems sorely lacking in broadcast TV shows lately... I think, haven't bothered with teh TV in some time :(

You won't be disappointed with the rest of the series then. The continual story arcs really facilitate all the nuances of real life issues, though not as many as Babylon 5 might have done IMO. The war with he Dominion versus the Alpha Quadrant, is not unlike WWII, in which Gene Roddenberry served as a pilot (and later as an L.A. cop). Usually don't listen to stuff with foreign lyrics, but it's a catchy tune. If you know anyone over 40, ask them about how things were before the 1980's.
