COMPLETE edition of the interactive "choose next panel" comic
4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsHAHAHAHAHHAHA great twist, Cap'n Ben! Although that's not what I did, I feel that's a great calibre gag!
Anyway, here's a rough drawing from an animatic from Secret Project #830928309283. It's turning out to be a 6 minute epic so I probably won't finish it for like a YEAR. OH GOD!
big-jonny-13 = WINN4R!!!1
hahaha, here's the first couple panels of a longer comic i just finished inking. gotta color these suckers. what will happen next?! hahaha
Ben: I wish I could find a picture of this actor. He's the supporting actor in "The Brain Center at Whipple's", this AWESOME Twilight Zone episode. I finished watching all the Twilight Zone episodes yesterday and I LUVRE them.
Slip-a-Nip: HAHAHA, Mr. Rogers. Kinda looks like a balding Mr. Rogers that's had a real bad day!
Some pencil previews from comics. Don't wanna give away the gags, but here's some of the drawing parts.
thanks ben! hahahaha, what a weird drawing you linked, i love it. chicken heads and bat chefs hahaha
getting a little wash down
thanks slip nip!
inking practice. trying to get more loooooose
thedo12: thanks dude! i need more practice, so expect to see some more girlies in the near future.
thought i'd give a little animation preview. a little cycle that i'm working on. i try not to show too much cuz i don't wanna give away any gags and stuff. anyhoo....
shit i can't make the image small enough. anybody know how to shrink a .gif?

i could take a cheese grater and scrape bacon off captben's back.
idiot-monarch: no, but i did meet his great granddaughter a while back. she's quite the gal. also, you have one of the coolest bbs sigs i've ever seen and your movie entitled "this movie sucks" totally didn't suck. love what you did with the colors and i think your drawings are really appealing. thanks for leaving a comment!
ID-N: thanks! i gotta find some time to sit down and do some more one-offs instead of constantly working on films. well, i guess each has its' advantages, but films just take soooooooooo much time
anyway, more drawings. some for projects, some just doodles. i'll let you guys decide
crazerfish50: awesome buckethead drawing! you fucking rule!
pink flamingos. if you don't get it, consider yourself lucky hahahaha
i'm not doing puppet animation. i'm doing frame by frame stuff which is really tedious, but i think you get a greater ability to move your stuff around in space (as opposed to tweening flat symbols). eh, once it all comes out, i guess everyone will be able to tell me if it's worth it or if i'm just wasting my time
i better not draw a girl baby. then you guys'll never get anything done.
Cap'n Ben, Big Johnny: Thanks guys!
Slip-A-Nip: Hahahaha, woohoo! Actually, I'm working full time on my own cartoons right now. I just have to save them up because we're going to launch a website. Hopefully we can put out a comic every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and a film every first of the month. That's a lot of work, so I'm making a backlog of content in case life intervenes some weeks. Hopefully previews will be enough to satisfy you for right now.
Anyway, here's a doodle I did while taking a break from making cartoons. I was watching the 70's movie "PHASE IV", which I'd highly recommend. Cheesy enough to be funny, really well shot, and insects were definitely harmed in the making of this film.
bird-man, you fuckin rule! i love your portraits, dude. and the faces that look like they're made up out of your head are wild. show us more digital stuff!
hey thanks guys! more doodles. then maybe a cleanup preview or something tomorrow.
so much improvement in this thread already! i think this falling piece is one of your best yet. keep posting more. i'd like to see you do a new drawing of your "hopper" characters!
you have AWESOME rendering skills and a really good design sense! i want to see more animal drawings!
ahoy cap'n! this is the style for the BG's. the characters are fairly closer to my regular style that I've been posting. i just finished compositing it, so i just need to do a final render of it! HUZZAH!
anyway, more artwork for your eyes, doodlers.
screenie from the film i'm trying to wrap up right now. i'm an intellectual and shit.
SweetSkater: Thanks bro!
d3rail3d: I'm currently using Flash to ink these drawings. I have Photoshop which I use to make my BG's for animation. I agree with you tho, it takes a while to get used to. I'm used to inking with dip pens on illustration board and drawing with pencils on pegged animation paper so it's kind of a stretch. But just like any other tool, I guess it takes getting used to. I don't have any tips but spending time. If you find anything that's helpful, let me know. I still feel awkward on mine too : )
Coool! Thanks so much for your feedback, guys! I definitely agree with ArthurGhostly on this one. Looney Tunes are a great blend.
More musician portraits done while taking breaks from real animation
Capt. Ben: I've been hiding a bunch of these but since you asked, I thought I'd give you a preview. I'm trying to mass a bunch of animations and comics for a website I'd like to launch Dec. of this year. In order to be able to release steady content, I need to have a LOT up front, so that's why you haven't seen any of the animation/comic stuff that I've posted about
I'd like to ask you, and EVERYONE here a question. How important is it that a strip is ongoing (same characters, building off last week, etc.)? Would you keep coming back to a comic if it's just single gags like Far Side and Perry Bible Fellowship? I have a little bit of both, but defintely more gag cartoons. I'm wondering if I should focus on establishing characters because that's what people want, or if hilarious gags will keep people coming back.
I really appreciate the enthusiasm everyone's throwing at me. I'ma keep working hard on these animations for you guys!
