Band poster I'm fucking around with for my band... Blah
Looks just like Adam Phillips drew it! Great job!
hankmc7, slippery-nip: Spanks, pals!
chymo: no problem! take it one step at a time, and watch yourself improve faster than all your peers.
another drawing. book to read "secular existentialism".
Slippery Nip: Thanks!
Ynek: Both! I'm really tired and I guess that's been showing up in everything I draw. I kinda graft my expression onto what I'm drawing. But yeah, it's a doodle of a real person. There's likeness there, but nothing to write home about.
Patu1: Thanks! I really appreciate it and positive feedback like yours will keep me posting indefinitely!
DarkSytze: Awesome! I think that's the number one goal of a cartoonist, is to show entertaining ideas about people's personalities and results of those personalities. Looks like I'm headed in the right direction.
Hammi: Thanks! I have plenty more coming, and if you like my style, you'll really like our website when we release it (not for a while tho : ( ).
Anyway, another meeting doodle. Another amalgamation of how I feel and a colleague : )
Slippery-Nipple: Thanks dude. I'm glad I'm going in a good direction!
thedo12: yeah, games are cool too! I know they're becoming really popular so you're making a smart decision.
ballpoint doodly doodle...

YEEEAAHHHHHHH! rad! masked, beefy chainsaw MASSACRE!
Slippery-Nipple: Ren and Stimpy was huge on me as a kid, as well as all the classic cartoons (Looney Tunes, MGM, Terry Toons, Fleischer) that John K drew off of as inspiration. Hopefully it looks "influenced" and not ripped off. What do you think?
Hammi: Thanks dude!
One more doodle that I forgot to post last night.
yeah man, don't listen to the haters. this piece is turning out good. you gotta study from the artists you like, then absorb their moves and they'll come out when you're doing your own stuff.
hey Duchednier, i would also learn how your favorite artists are drawing. figure out their drawing process. i can almost guarentee whoever it is is using construction. if you haven't heard of it, it's building more complex shapes out of really basic shapes. i think you'd get more out of studying drawings by not only using the grid, but doing the same step that really good artists use to draw their pictures. usually, you build up the whole drawing at the same time, rather than take one section to finish, then go onto another section. but this is ROCKIN and you should definitely finish it.
i want to see more of your own artwork that isn't studies! i instantly knew it was johnny depp, dude. it might not be flawless but you're already really good!
Chymo - I got Anatomy for the Artist when I was really young. I thought it would really help me, but it was far too academic and too advanced. I still think it's way too advanced for what I'd like. In order to draw SOLID, you gotta learn construction first. Anatomy for the Artist won't teach you those kinda fundamentals. But it will teach you the insertion points of the bicep femoris. Dig? It's pretty advanced if you wanna work on your basics. That's why I really recommend the Preston Blair stuff. Start easy and work your way up. Work with basic shapes and making those convincing. Cartoony drawing strips it down to the basics. If you can't make something basic like that solid, you're never gonna do a crazy Michelangelo figure falling in perspective look convincing. Have a solid grasp of each LEVEL of drawing. Learn to put basic shapes in space, then once you have that mastered, work up your anatomical knowledge to build MORE FORM on top of those basic shapes.
If you want Anatomical books, I would much sooner recommend the books of Glen Vilpuu, Berne Hogarth, and George Bridgman. All the masters of 20th century illustration used those to learn. Anatomy for the Artist is pretty recent, and quite frankly not all that geared toward artists. Just my two cents tho.
I got some more quickie pen drawings from a clothed model session.
Ynek: Thanks sooo much. I really love old Disney. Particularly Milt Kahl, one of their star animators who was part of the Nine Old Men.
I might just start my own thread in the politics forum so we can discuss this. I don't think my cartoon is all that clear. I wanted to make it seem like some Americans actually have to pontificate whether they'd vote a Republican or an utter demise. For some people, voting Democrat is UNFATHOMABLE (liberalphobes), let alone considering third parties (GO GREEN PARTY).
thedo12: Thanks TIm! I liked your Lil Fighter game. You're a pretty good artist yourself! You got the fundamentals and I want to see you do a new film!
Chymo: I've been drawing all my life. I just graduated college and studied animation. But the most I learned was from just watching classic cartoons/comics and analyzing them. You wanna know what was super helpful? Preston Blair's book! Check it out in it's entirety for FREE:

If you got any questions hit me up. I'd love to share theories and hear other people's too!
lennaerd and chris, cartoon pals!
Hahaha, these are hilarious! You're a really funny cartoonist, Lennaerd!
I liked the pointless sobbing, and your Knight Lambertus stuff looks pretty sweet. I really like the ship builder. Haha, he's so focused on what he's doing. You got a pretty natural knack for acting. I dunno about games (as most games simply aren't funny), but I definitely wanna see some comics from you! I see one panel, Far Side type stuff! Or animation!
I hope you keep posting frequently in this thread, cuz I'm gonna check back! Go Lennaerd go!
Er1cMcPwnag3: your cell phone is in with the american flag.
election year folks. some of us are old enough to vote, and some of us are lucky enough that we can't be held responsible for those in power. either way, you oughta educate yourself.
and coincidentally, not voting is the same as an apocalypse vote.
her vector lines are tight but her morals are loose. nice and super clean! pretty good likeness too.
what a trashy political move tho...
BizzaroJoe, you rule! Awesome solid style! Looks real nice and well constructed. Thumbs up, doodler.
i drew a picture of me kissing your mom goodnight. <3
DUDE! yeah, i think tha'ts cool that you wanna do your own stuff. you got a good imagination for it. your swamp monster rocked haha. dude, this is a great thread, keep it up!
cool story, clarkitupp! i've used artwork to meet chicks too! hahah
if you get good, it's your ticket to talk to anybody. if you draw funny or good doodles, people will wanna see 'em
hey lolzer! i like him. i think he looks pretty funny and happy.
this is for a film? if you're going to animate him, you might want to make his legs a bit shorter to be more in proportion with his head/body. it'll make it a bit easier for you.
so what's the deal with atmosphere guy? does he have powers?
HAHAHAHAHA OH FUX!!!11 KNIVES!!1
dude, awesome sense of space you get with the character in FG then pushed back characters in BG. this is really cool dude. i'd like to see this as an animated sequence!
hey dude!
if you scan in your linework from paper, it's got black and white and when you color udner it you can't see it. but if you go to the layers properties (in the little layers window at the top... at default it says "normal") and set your layer to "MULTIPLY", it makes all the white see through, so now you can see your colors.
dunno, just might be helpful if you still like drawing on good old fashioned tree murder, like me : )
ShwiggtyShwo: Thanks dude!
kidd25: I wish everywhere I walked, you could hear Black Sabbath as the soundtrack.
Erione5143: Thanks man. Puking out of my eyes because of all the ugly designed stuff we gotta look at these days.
Krayon: Let's bring it back! Solid cartoons, but they don't have to be for little kids. We can tackle more mature themes and tell it how it really is instead of candycoat everything into fluff. But I still do love old Disney films haha
MadCow: I got some more that I'll have to post if you like this one.
poxpower: shit, i'm printing this out comment out and showing my mom. i'm sure she'll pin it on the fridge! yessssss
shadow-1409: yeah man, totally. i think that a lot of flat designed cartoons are limitted to the scope of things they can do because they don't exist in real space. when ren punches stimpy, you FEEL it because there is weight and volume, and forms hitting forms, rather than simple shapes hitting simple shapes.
been listening to a lot of blues lately. this was sketched while listening to some jimmy reed.
sometimes you gotta draw what's on your mind even if it doesn't make sense. it's a catharsis, du
