especially her huge hands are an eye sore, but I dont really know how to change this easily. I am not gonna redo the hands. Maybe I can fatten up the upper arm.
I actually got that left hand (our left) line-layered, so I guess I can transform everything in it, but I am not sure how. I tried but no luck.
also not to happy with her nails... ideas?
Wow dude those last 3 paintings are awesome. Really nice, perfect lighting. The size format is also very fitting. I would hang this in my house anyday.
Favorite is the fisherman
Are u selling this stuff?
I think this is done. may change some stuff before official entry. so small change comments are welcome
was fun! I always thought zombies were very difficult. (still think so)

he means the settings of the brush you use, so changing opacity and flow of the soft brush for example. smudge tool can be handy sometimes but you are using it wrong. It seems you want to blend the colors dont use smudge for that but modified brushes.
btw the mayor issues with this drawing is the light shading on the ground. its not right that way. Also to me its unclear what i am looking at, maybe thats the intention, then by all means leave it like that, but what happens in the back is a bit of a mess

You know what? The original was looking a bit lackluster but with the addition a strong light source this looks a lot warmer and I think the overall "warm fuzzy" tone that was probably intended for this really comes through.
thx
In GIMP (and presumably Photoshop as well) you can create a layer and change its mode to either dodge or burn. By doing this I think you could have a layer over the colored layer and use black and white (or other colors) to get a dodge and burn effect, but still be able to erase what you did without damaging the originally colored layer.
well I just looked and there are indeed dodge layer mode's. I tried this but I couldnt figure out to make it work. But its probably something the internet holds the answer to, and I never really thought about the option being available in layer mode so thanks alot.
Alternatively, you can make a copy of your colored layer and use the dodge and burn tool on the copy. That way, in case you do need to revert to the original colored layer, you've still got it there.
ha I copy my layers so much, 'cause I am so scared to fuck things up, to the point CS will lagg because of the many layers. So I am using that method now, but its far from ideal.
now, I liked how this turned out, thanks for the set up. I kinda had to follow the same light source since the light already came from that direction. I forgive myself.
I had to do this with the dodge and burn tool, since then you can use highlights instead of just greying or whitening the colors for lighting. I am always pretty wary to use those tools since I have to use them on my colored layer, and if I wanna change things after this, its nearly impossible. I assume there is no work around? What I mean is that normally I just put shades on a different layer using white and black with low opacity, but thats not possible with burn and dodge (I cant erase).
The feather is an altered picture I grabbed from google. I liked how the scratch marks turned out.
I also HAD to include the label, I used it to mark my work. A friend of mine always incorporate's his name/tag into the picture in a similar way so really good place imo for this.
I am calling this done

Looks great! Maybe adding some sort of deformation, wrinkles and such, it'll look less floaty.
How did you do the fur? It looks like a lot of work.
Didnt do it in minutes, but it isnt that much work either. I cant find the tutorial I watched for this. Basically I made my own brush (10x10 pixels with 6 small randomly scattered squares), layed down a base color and some shading. then I would use my made brush with dodge tool (about 50%), then burn tool and then smudge (about 40%), then repeat.
and thanks, will work on the pillow a bit

Well I'm not much sure about how to solve your floating problem other then saying to try to do proper lighting and shadowing, but as for the photo edit problem. There can be several ways to solve that, and all that is an artist's "Personal Touch".
What I mean by this is that, maybe you want to tell a story of your picture. We all know that they are your 2 cats, but what do we know about them, you can answer that with their surroundings. You could add their cat toys, give them collars that make them unique, show that they like to scratch, or anything that makes the setting unique.
My example would be a proper lighting since what you had is still dimly flat and needs a stronger sense of lighting. Secondly I added tears on the pillow and gave the pillow with a tag "I wrote donut on it for lulz".
An artist personal touch is just something that you want to add and it what makes it uniquely yours.
NIce I like it a lot thanks for this. Ill definitely add some similar light source, and work on a few more extra's in the background, maybe a blanky or a feather (since they love feathers).
I really like how the light seems to come from an half open door. If you dont mind I am gonna recreate that concept.
btw I actually drew them with collars (which they wear IRL), but since I hate it that I let them wear them I removed them. Thats about the only real artist impression I can claim.
thanks again

Well I saw this one technique where you can make an easier color palette for yourself by taking a photo, picture, or screencap that you like and use a filter to turn it into a color palette. I've never done it for myself yet, but you can go about the background like so.
Plus if you carefully layer the cats properly then you can control their colors in photoshop to fit with the background.
Any further adjustments is up to you.
thx
I made it like this.
I feel that they look like they are hovering a little bit. Also it looks a bit like I edited a photo, which I didnt. probably because of the pillow. Still pretty content

Not sure yet what to do with the background, any ideas?
hmm I like the idea about the wooden floor, will do that.
and the redish is already the shape of a 'soft' pillow, that was my idea as well. But I am not so sure about the colors. Moby is very light, while mira is very dark, its difficult to pick a color that goes best in the background.

Ahh big jonny adding one extra (useless) entry to his 10000+ one-sentence posts. Dont u get tired of it?
OT; Although I wouldnt know anything about an artistic block (I am no artist), I do recognize your boredom. You seem bored and that feeling can really get a hold of you.
One thing I wonder about though is the length of this issue youre having. Are you going to follow a study of some sort? I assume your parents also pressure you to do stuff.
Throughout my uni-years (just recently got my degree) I was at times really bored. I did work and study, but I also took way to much time off to just chill and do nothing but drug out a bit. When I noticed friends around me in comparable situations dropped out, I recognized the danger of my issues.
Still I often have a severe lack of incentive. I am pretty active when it comes to doing fun stuff with friends, but I am terrible when it comes to taking steps to progress in real life. I too have the lack of motivation. even now I have my degree I am finding it difficult to step out of my comfort zone.
back to you
What I try to do to combat this is really obvious and sounds simple (not really though). Just make agreements with yourself. Set goals for the coming week and try to honor them. Keep them realistic at first and possibly intensify later on. Make sure that you would agree that if you make honor your own goals you are satisfied. (pretty much what Johnnycancer said)
If applicable; set your alarm. If you do not have any obligations for a certain day, wake up 'early' anyway, make use of your day which is doable when you have set goals.
be active; one thing I learned is that doing active things with friends is more rewarding then just chilling with them. I am someone who can really enjoy chilling on a couch with a movie and a beer. I also tend to lure friends into this setting. And although this can be really nice as well, doing other stuff, outdoors preferably, is often way more rewarding and will give much more energy the next, or the same, day.
Again, being bored (if thats the case, I do seem to recognize it in your post) can be quite a strain. in any case dont underestimate it. I didnt have it at your age, but pretty soon into my second year of uni. I started sleeping during the day and living during the night (definite sign). Even took a night job to support this lifestyle.
And although the above may sound pretty basic, it probably will help. You will get incentive again to make art and enjoy it like you did. it will basically get you back on track a bit.
good luck
So lets see if you u guys are up for this. Just an idea, may work may not work.
I have included a drawing which cost me exactly 2 minutes to make . I intentionally left the shapes very simple, so even artnabs, like myself, can work on this.
The idea is that you add something within 2 minutes time, you can exceed the limit no one times you, but try to keep it short. If you have an awesome idea, thats to bad work on one detail then.
Upload the picture and the next one can work from there.
Rules are negotiable I guess. If 2 minutes is to short (I now think it is) let me know what you would find a good time limit.
--edit--- I stretched the limit to 5 minutes.
- you may add stuff
- you may change colors
- you may draw over things, but not erase something
- you may only draw for 5 minutes
- you must save as jpeg
- although allowed by the rules above you should aim at leaving the basic shapes, as they exist, intact. So dont just draw a totally different shape over an existing one. But altering it is has no official limitations.
Hopefully someone will pic this up.

some small add ons. pic is done. not really happy with it but it wasnt much work so F it.
I have some issues apparently with making a pic a little more dynamic. theyre all so 'still'. I understand that in this case atleast it has a lot to do with the pose, being very passive, but I find it difficult in general to make a picture a bit more lively.

Trust me when I say whatever is in your head is really not as good as you think it is. And whatever price tag you think it deserves, you're off by more than a few zeroes. If you're hungry, and you work hard enough, you can break into the film industry, but with the question you're asking it doesn't even sound like you want to take it any further than flight of fancy so... good luck?
Thx, your right about my mindset on this, had to look it up 'flight of fancy'. Also indeed probably not as good as i think, but then again it could be.
But i might look into writing a screenplay, could be interesting/fun
I was wondering about something and i think this would be the best place to go.
Lets say you have a concept for a movie, you only have an outline of the story, so no script.
Is that sellable? I mean i am no writer, but i think i have a decent story in my head. But it restricts itself to the main plotline.... the important and big events that need to happen to eventually reach the finale.
I do have a concept about the protagonist and other characters, but not any dialogue.
So its a definition of a concept, something i cant work out further. What are possible options? And i am not reffering to a flash movie or something, its to 'complex' for that...
