Now, keep that purpose in mind. Consoles were designed to play games and not do anything else. Well that's PS3 already on it's face because they've gone so off topic. It's like talking politics of America and then suddenly bringing up the politics of South Africa. You're still in the country but you're still a couple of hundred miles away from the purpose of a console.
You are true on that point.
Consoles back then were built with basic components with reliability on it's side to a certain extent. The X-Box 360 does not have that. With so many red-rings-of-death appearing and current problems with my disc drive and possibly problems with the sound cutting out every so often, you would hardly call it reliable. Then again, Playstation 2 were hardly reliable...
That is different however, mabye they are not reliable but it takes many betas to get out even some of the bugs and glicthes.
The consoles back then had a wide variety of games to suit every gamer. Shooting games like Doom to fit the game who just loved to shoot stuff. A wide variety of RTS, RPG and many more different genres. Nintendo feel inclined though to just run their characters into the fucking floor, out the other side of the earth and onto Pluto. The genres are different slightly but not by much due to the limitations of the character selection.
You changed halfway through there, It wen't from different types of games to character selection. So in oder, there was always different types of games, as for selection, it may have decreased a bit but I'm not exactly sure.
Enough ripping on the consoles, it's the games that makes a console right? How good they are and how many games there are exclusively can really affect how well or poor a console will do. While we're talking about that, the price also affects it. Didn't the PS3 reach $800 in price? Approximately, that's £400, that's double the price of when the PS2 was first released (again approximately). Could be inflation, who knows? But no one likes figures like that when it comes to gaming. No one.
So your saying the systems are pricey right?
I'll do rest later.
