If not: Cartoons have been including morals or lessons for a long time. All the way back to the 80's (The Smurfs for example), so it's nothing new.
I'm not really a fan of cartoons like that, but sometimes they're good because it doesn't focus on the lessons.

MLP? You're a bunch of teens/grown people watching a show for little girls. I watched the first episode and thought the exact same thing I thought after watching or hearing about any kids show. Huzzah, another way to trick little kids into learning about "morals". Kids don't learn morals from TV shows they learn them from strict warnings, occasionally a hard spanking and eventually, their own wisdom. Seriously, TV shows are not supposed to be pretentious and boring their supposed to be exciting, action packed with good acting and well written storys. MLP is just cheesy.

The only cheesy moment I can remember from Supernatural is when Castiel revealed his wings in an attempt to prove to Dean he was an angel, and even then it was so badass that you didn't even notice.

Also this is awesome.
