You guys talk about how animated flash are original; but how many animated flashes use the constant theme of "Remember that time when" <generic flash back of something funny>
or how about the day when <something happens> <insert generic flash back>?

none that ive made

Or lets take another one of my favorites, 'Final Fantasy A+'. Amazing detail but very typical anime.
<main character> struggles with life until he gets <generic friends> and realizes his potential and he becomes <generic hero>.

shitty!

If you don't know shows that use this same type of humor/story , ill list one right off the top of my head.

FAMILYGUY
NARUTO

hey dumbass those are BOTH SHITTY! you have a way of coming up with the best examples possible to disprove your point

Stop living in denial. Like i have said to others, if spriting is so easy and effortless, make one then? Tell me how easy it is to constantly copy, paste, adjust, rotate, edit, and such?

lmfao moron, i have made sprites before. i made an entire videogame movie. i can honestly say its much easier than drawn animation. MUCH easier.

Alvin can sprite well AND draw well

we went over this already, the only thing he draws is furry shit!

not only that but people like Chluaid ARE more popular than Alvin.

people like zekey and rtil aren't

And what if you CANT draw but you CAN animate? And you want to bring your vision to life?

become a graphic designer and get paid for it instead of posting unoriginal crap on newgrounds and leaching all the attention from those who draw their own artwork

Sprites are an ART FORM

best quote of the day

Drawings can't replicate that!

drawing your own sprites can! i have no problem with sprites if the artist puts a good amount of effort into altering them. daniel sun is an example of the right way to do it

I will repeat: Go fuck yourselves and leave us alone. We do a damn good job of animating and a damn good job of bringing art and entertainment. Art should not be limited by you or anyone else. If you are trying to limit art with this bullshit you are hurting the world of art not helping it.

ive got news for you buddy. a mixture of super mario, sonic, and dragonball Z using graphics ripped from consoles is not art. it is an exploitation of pop culture.

Same goes for graphic design. You have fonts and special effects to help you make it look good. Just think of it like this. Creating a sprite movie is like doing up a 10,000 peice jigsaw peice, Alvin has the patientce to do it and that's why so many people like him as an artist.

wow you don't get it. making a decent flash movie is like putting together a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle WHICH YOU DRAW YOURSELF. and making a good traditional frame-by-frame animation is like drawing 10,000 different fuckin jigsaw puzzles.

as much as i hate to admit it, i would say the SS are the ones who first turned the portal in this direction. not intentionally, mind you. we simply made dailytoons to get practice in flash, be productive as a crew, and have fun.

but after awhile, people started to see the name "dailytoon" in the title and automatically associate us with a free protection point. we were able to get flashes past judgment that honestly did not deserve to pass. everyone assumed we were mass voting with proxies, but we weren't. we were just causing a generation of stat whores to go "wait... these will pass even if i vote zero, so why vote zero?"

i guess you could say we made up for this by moving towards quality flashes in season 2, 3, and 4 of dailytoons. but we had started the trend already and we were powerless to stop it. we first realized we had made a mistake when the glock group was formed as essentially a shittier version of the SS that got its flashes past judgment by putting "GG" in the title. then afrostud saw what we had done and used it to get his shitty ATWI80D series past judgment. the KK formed using precisely the same methods the SS and GG had used to get past judgment.

if you want to get to an even deeper root of the problem, the first few clock days were probably the first ever instances of "free protection points" in the portal

I'm going to stop submitting crap for a while...

yeah thats exactly what i mean. at first you piss people off by submitting flash with no effort put into it because its so easy to do and the reactions you get are so fuckin hilarious. then after awhile it gets boring and you get fewer and fewer actual reactions. your views drop from like 5000 to 400, and the angry reviews drop from 20 to 2.
so for a change, you make something better quality expecting praise. somewhat understandably, the audiences pay no attention to your flash's quality and vote low on it without watching, assuming that its the same shit as everything else you submit. so you go back to pissing them off in retaliation for this treatment.

its a viscious cycle and one that all of the crews should just break by disbanding.

yeah crews have definitely become a liability. but why bother submitting spam at all? even solo? theres no sense of accomplishment to it anymore, unless you care about stats for some stupid reason. even pissing people off gets old, although i'm sure its still funny to you right now. trust me, you'll get tired of it soon. the more people who catch on and ignore you instead of giving you the attention you crave, the less fun flaming gets.

tell me, would you give up the ability to submit a half assed rehashed flash every day and have it pass simply because it says "ATWISEROAOS60D:3THEOSAO" at the end of the title if it meant all under judgment flashes would be judged more fairly? there needs to be some balance.

I find it a bit odd that you would post this here on the BBS.. Well anyway..

reformations basically equal death. the CC and LL underwent huge reformations that eventually drove away their founding members and made them completely different crews. the SS also had some reformations and forum deletions that may have killed the original spirit of the crew. the only reason we're still around is because sevenstar is still around. the CC has no excuse, coolboyman already told the clocks to disband years ago.

i mentioned it because there were bbs threads about it and ive talked to a lot of former kk members who left.

A lot happens to a person in that timeframe, it's likely any of those with animation skill moved onto other formats and maybe made money with there talents.

To still be in the same group doing the same thing for several years is an accomplisment, but it's only natural for the earlier members to move on.

Thats why the old cool crews have "died" in a sense. Most of the founding early members have simply kmoved on from Newgrounds or there crew.

yeah you bring up an interesting point there

i think the older powerhouse crews (SS is 3 years old, LL 4 yrs old, CC 7 yrs old) basically had a lot of members join when they were young immature teenagers, and in the course of being a member of the crew they matured. a lot of times people would start out a crappy spam artist and develop into a talent after practicing with the crew. i know for me personally i used the skill that i gained making intros for dailytoons to make money designing flash website introductions.

so i guess that means newgrounds is just a coming of age website that a bunch of immature 13 yr old faggots visit for a few years, then leave for the younger generation of immature 13 yr old faggots after they've grown up and realized how gay the site has gotten!

it started after the redesign. there was a flood of new users who had never visited NG before. the majority of them were attracted by videogame flashes like alvin earthworm's and egoraptor's stuff. regardless of your opinion of those authors, its undeniable that they attracted a younger and more immature crowd with less of an interest in flash and more of an interest in gaming and 4chan fads. this is whats driving everyone away. this site is becoming the exact opposite of "everything by everyone" despite tom's best efforts
