3.80 / 5.00 4,200 Views2 solutions doesn't equal 2 graphs. Think of a circle. When you take it out of standard form, which looks something like:
cx^2 + cy^2 = r
and bring it into y form (perhaps to graph on a scientific calculator) you'll get a similar result (a square root with +/-) and the + on a graph refers to the top half of the circle, and the - to the bottom half, and when you put them together, you get what the whole graph looks like. Circles aren't functions so some x values have 2 solutions.

So, if any of you guys could point me in the right direction, as I'm pretty much out-dated (noob-stated), that'd be awesome.
If memory serves me right, .ini is just a fancy text file.
Umm, C, C++ or a batch file is what I would go with.

Well, I think you'll be hard-pressed to find one, because the definition of both terms isn't really strictly defined.
Here's what I take both terms to mean, and if someone else in the forum has a better definition, please share it, because mine's likely to be awful. Here goes:
Code-based Game:
A game where code is essentially the reason the game was made in the first place. I take this to mean that the game is very structured (i.e. tile system, RPG-type game, etc.), and is obviously heavily dependent upon the code to be successful. I would say that the art isn't the primary focus of these games; I would probably say that the experience as a player is the most important aspect.
Art-based Game
A game where art is the reason the game was made. I assume that this means that these games tend to focus on art, rather than the experience. I don't know too many examples for these kinds of games, but I imagine Braid was partly an art-based game. I know it's an amazing game code-wise too, but it focuses heavily on art and design, rather than things to actually do. I guess these games would be more puzzle-based, and not nearly as fun as code-based games, but they are still fun because of the depth that art brings to them.
Do you see what I mean? It's hard to define them because most games don't fall entirely into one category. Especially with technology only getting better, people are expecting games to be fun, and look good.
That's basically how I would personally define both terms, but please don't blindly accept what I have to say as truth. Do some research of your own (Google it) and see others' points of view, and read other definitions. Hopefully this sheds some light on your problem, and if it doesn't, sorry I couldn't help. Good luck with the game though; don't ever let anyone tell you to stop if it really is a passion of yours.

I've tried to make some sense of you wall of text, and I'm confused.
For one, this sounds like a Flash question, and if it is, I'd like to happily link you to the Flash Forum.
Otherwise, are you asking for the difference between a code-based game vs. an art-based game? You said you knew the difference a good 3/4ths through your paragraph, and this is why I'm confused.
If you could rewrite what you're trying to say a bit more clearly, we might be able to help you further.

Why?
If you're using a free hosting provider, they have probably provided you with a default one. If you're not using a free host, then I have no idea how it got there either.
Code::blocks is ok, but I like QtCreator more, looks nicer and auto-completion is faster IMO.
I think I like Code::Blocks more.
Also, you might want to try google searching for that missing DLL. That could be all you need.

High School is all some people have going for them. I let them enjoy their 4 years of life, and I enjoy the rest of mine.
Heroes of Newerth is better. I'm in the closed beta for it now, and it's freaking sweet.
I know it belongs in the Flash Forum, but no block timer = fail.

What in the world are you talking about?
Also, things that don't line up, aren't symmetrical etc drive me up the wall.
They do the same thing to me. When I used to make games, all my friends hated my maps because they were ALL symmetrical, to the last detail.
Stupid OCD.

I love the sound of rain. It's awfully relaxing when you need to sleep.

Shut up adam.
I was totally going to point that out. Thanks for beating me to it. :D
BTW I know these things because my dad works with Microsoft. Ya aint hearing a lie.
Why the crap does everyone say that? Would you please learn to do some freaking research? The XBox is a PC. It's just specialized to play games.
The reason people create consoles is so that all developers have the same medium to work with. With PC developers, people have to sort of...take a guess, or do extensive research to figure out what kinds of hardware the majority of their audience uses. With something like an XBox 360, all developers can work with the same hardware, and they know that all Xbox 360 owners will get a similar experience.
To contribute to the topic:
Yea, piracy is a definite turnoff. For game developers, consoles are the way to go.
Simplistic attributes. When I have 20 different attributes that all add like, .02% to a certain stat, I never know what to level up.
For example, I'd love something simple like:
[Attack (Affects physical damage)] 6153
[Magic (Affects magic damage)] 1232
[Health (Affects amount of health)] 9001
[Mana (Affects amount of mana)] 1239
and that's it. Something that simple is generally fun for me.
because i have no idea what came with my comp, i would have to google alot of things and it would take like a week with all the crap on my laptop
But you'll come to NG, which loads slower than Google, and wait for others to answer your questions? I love your logic there, dude.
It's actually quite a nice game, but the system needs work, and it also needs more players. When more players start playing, you'll probably see me around. :P Cleric FTW <3

1.) CSS is the new standard pretty much. It's not difficult, and people should start using it.
2.) Your site looks like garbage. The background image is horrible, the layout's terrible, etc.
3.) What Dearon said.

Here's my attempt. I'm pretty satisfied with it.
I took the Background from Stamper's 'Dad' BG from the Downloads section, and I took the image of Dad n' Me from Stamper's other Dad n' Me (Chainsaw) BG.
