I was just skimming this forum, and I really felt that this comment deserved a response. So here goes: Your criteria for indicating that Democrats "suck" is entirely irrelevant, since ALL politicians will do "whatever" to get a vote; Mitt himself has swapped positions numerous times presumably to appeal to a more conservative bias. Furthermore, your tone indicates that you seem to consider "gays and Mexicans" as something akin to inferior beings. While I myself am not either gay or mexican, I find this idea abhorrent on a deeply personal level, because in the US, we claim to treat all individuals not based on their preferences or race, but, to pull a quote from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, "on the content of their character." There is nothing inherently wrong with either gays or mexicans. Furthermore, to continue on the "mexicans" track I have going, in 1986 Ronald Reagan's Republicans introduced a bill to give amnesty to all illegal immigrants, and yes, that includes the mexicans. I don't mean to bash you or your views at all, but I feel that those particular sentiments are divisive, and as a devoted centrist, I believe that divisive ideas should be addressed. I'm not sure yet that I would vote for either Republicans or Democrats, simply because right now US politics are centered around stigmatizing the other party. As evidence, I refer you to the birth certificate scandal and the "Is Obama a Muslim?" scandal. If I have read too much into your statements, I apologize, and would welcome a response correcting my views.

Well, like it says in the report, this new approach will be fodder-proof from right-wing evangelical nutbags.

Personally I thought embryonic stem-cell research would have been a monumental breakthrough for the human race, but progress is always blocked by inbreeders who can't break away from Colonial Era religious stigmas.

But now that we can get stem-cells from other sources, what's stopping us?

what's stopping us is that its considered possibly immoral to use stem cells, as one would have to kill what could have potentially been a human. there's probably a legal issue tangled somewhere, but i'm not sure what it is.

not necessarily, just because one thinks it creepy, it might be because its unusual, or because of some fear derived from one's life. just because its creepy doesnt mean it isnt alright.
