Late Bloomers in Music Thread. Posted September 17th, 2014 in Audio

Any other late bloomers in music like myself who started learning music theory and such at a later age because their family could not afford instruments or lessons? I'm 21 now and I've only just this year, gotten a lot better at piano through experience and practice. I'm still not at pro level yet though. But I'm going to keep with it. Any other late bloomers in here I could chill with?

- chords -> try to find smooth progressions which are surprising somehow. Dont be repetitive as you are in the fourth chord in the left hand where you go back in the progression

- try to be more rhythmical. Augmentations, sometimes triplets in the runs, sometimes off beat over a longer sequence in the one hand while the other one plays on beat

- find a good balance of fast passages with virtuoso runs and the chord passages. If you do runs try to bring in unison runs

- use the 7th chord very often :D

- try to change quite often from monor to major and backwards

- also try to bring key changes that are interesting to vary the pieces feeling

- find lyrical themes and motifs. Bring them again several times in the composition but as variations

I will apply this to later stuff I do. Thank you.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've just started studying jazz improv from watching various Youtube videos. Mainly pianobreaks' stuff. I would definitely appreciate any advice people could give me. Mainly from people who play piano very well.

This is a small clip of what I have learned so far: https://soundcloud.com/thedukeofjuke17/improv1

Before I start this, please don't hate me for this admins. You're most likely my favorite website ever. This is just a thread for small improvements that could be done to make the website even better. Here's what I have to say below. What do other people have to say?

1: This one is a bit difficult because I know somewhat on how websites work. But a higher MB limit (if possible) would be nice in uploading things like audio that is longer than 10 minutes without having to kill the quality of your sound.

2: A preview for the icon you put in audio to see how it looks on the CD icon in the audio portal.

3: Maybe just a little more customization for your profile. Like a color changer for the tiles or a custom background.

Honestly, if somebody wrote a song that sound somewhat similar to mine, I wouldn't be all that mad. I'd be flattered honestly. Now, if it's clear that they ripped off one of my songs, that would be a different story. I'd say changing the key of this one and changing a few things around would probably do the trick.

The money put towards my music rounded up is about 3,000 at least, whereas my income on the other hand is a big fat 0. What would you say your annual income is with your sound/music? And if you get a decent income, advice to people like me would surely be appreciated.
