Pursue your own Fate

Hi!

Pursue your own Fate is a song I composed with the help of my fellow bandmate for our project April's Carnation(a name that makes reference to the Carnation Revolution in Portugal, our home country).

We play Melodic Death/Metalcore based music with several influences from black, progressive to old school death, doom metal, etc. I recorded all the guitar and voice tracks myself and programmed the drums on EZDrummer.

Due to the lack of quality material and knowledge, because I'm quite new to the world of recording, I'm unable to achieve high-quality sounding tracks, nevertheless, I pushed my capabilities to the limit to produce this.

If you enjoyed what you heard, I invite you to like our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/aprilscarnation?fref=nf

Hope you like it!

Have you heard about "Killer Be Killed" or am I late? It's a supergroup formed by the mighty Troy Sanders, Max Cavalera, Greg Puciato from The Dillinger Escape Plan and Dave Elitch from The Mars Volta. Interesting line-up but I had my expectations up high and they came out with this.

Not really my thing to be honest, some interesting parts in the songs but I thought it would be a little bit more experimental and fresh. Just sounds like a mash-up of Sepultura, Mastodon and some boring metalcore/alternative metal to me. Maybe I was just expecting something so different that I was unable to really enjoy this, especially judging by the cover. What are your thoughts about it?

These motherfuckers never lose their creative spirit. I'd just love to hear some agressive vocals Blood Mountain/Leviathan-esque.

Well, "rush" is definitely a word that comes to mind, which has me a little concerned. I love Mastodon, but it's better they take their time.

Maybe they will rest for a while after this album, but if they feel the urge to create a new album so soon, they better have strong creative reasons to do so, and that's why I'm quite excited about it.

I've been kind of obsessed with them lately, very aggressive and distinct sound.
I've heard quite a few good things about them. I might have to look beyong that hardcoreness and give them a chance.

It's different, the feeling I get from them is that they play the original metalcore(mathcore to be precise) as if it never got trendy. The hardcoreness in them hits you like the hardcore that influences lots of metal bands like Mastodon, I find their sound to be very pure, fresh and original, and it's quite technical. As I've said they're very distinct in my opinion, specially considering how long they've been around. Maybe you won't find anything special about the vocals, but I think Jacob Bannon is amazing, very harsh, aggressive and emotional, in a lot of songs his voices is black metal-esque, and I like how he said in a small documentary "I'm 37 years old, and I still yell for a living" or something like that.

I've also heard they're excelent alive, again, the vocalist said something as "playing a concert for me has always been like play hard, or go home, with the true hardcore mentality", and still he seems to be very humble about his activity.

Some of my favorite songs (and the albums they're in are my favorite as well):
The Saddest Day
Heaven in Her Arms

Ive always heard about them but never listened to em.
Are they worth checking out? The name is interesting if nothing else.

Their first album 'Oracles' and and their first EP 'Mafia', are both masterpieces with astounding guitar work, aggressive drumming and vocals, with a kind of a neoclassical approach to their sound, which made them an unique group and one of my favourite bands, but their last two albums are utter shit, instead of using guitars to make music, all they do is some wankery with symphonic arrangements, so I just won't recommend those.

Well, I actually happen to be that shy and socially awkward guy, but it has nothing to do with metal, that's my personality since I've got myself one. Maybe I'm not really that socially awkward, I just really don't enjoy to meet new people, I prefer to stick with my good friends, and not everyone can deal with my special humor, but it has nothing to do with metal whatsoever, if I happened to be an outgoing person I'd love metal anyway.

Your english is actually really good. There are occasional non-sequiturs, but that's usually because you use a word or phrase that, while in portuguese might've been appropriate, in english didn't quite translate. But that's not very often, and it happens whenever anyone learns a new language.

Well thank you very much, that was quite cheering! And you're right, it's even worse in spanish, from which portuguese evolved, and even though those languages sound totally different in accent, my mother language always interferes, but that happens to the majority of portuguese trying to learn spanish, because a lot of words are wrote in the same way. Sometimes I even think that english is easier for me than spanish because there's not so much space to let my mother language interfere.

Just guessing. Still, it's obvious english ain't your first language, Daemonic Poet, so I'm extending some forgiveness for a non-sequitur or two. but forgive me if I interpreted your post wrong. I gotta agree with you, though, about the bullshit badassery, or as i like to call it, "tuff guy syndrome", which is why I hate most -core bands as well.

Yep, it isn't, though I'm able to understand and communicate with ease, I'm not really that fluent. I hope that with time I will get better at it, I don't really have the opportunity to practice that much outside school. And I must say, newgrounds helped me a lot. Also, you're right.

I was thinking more about titscore like In This Moment or heavy pop like Amaranthe. Nothing except the movie Avatar yells the word cashgrab louder than these shitty bands.

I just hate them all haha, they don't fit my taste, and I can't stand Epica specifically, I understand what you're saying though. But I don't know, I feel like I have a natural misogyny for women in metal, I also can't stand Arch Enemy, even though Angela's growls all the time, it makes my dick retract I don't enjoy that feeling haha.

There are some themes and feelings I don't want singers to inflict in me, and those are: whining, thus my hate for Epica and such, bullshit badassery and non-sense, thus my hate for some metalcore acts and most Djent, fairy tales and fabulousness, therefore and heretically I'm not a fan of most traditional heavy/doom/power metal and sexual harassment, and that's why I dislike Type-O-Negative. ;_;

That's because they often make these vocals as obnoxious as possible and there is always a huge focus in such bands on the female vocalist, most likely for commercial purposes... and usually not for artistic value. It's usually always over-technical female vocalists who can't seem to put any kind of emotion in their music.

But like Sense said, once you drop these gimmicky bands and look around, you'll find amazing female vocalists who aren't just there for show.

Yep, that's why I hate "gothic"/symphonic metal bands with their big-boobed pretty faces singing opera over heavily-distorted groups of power chords with some synth or keyboard playing with their cheesy melodies... Disgusting. It just sounds like heavy pop honestly, if I heard a metal tune over a Katy Perry song, I couldn't spot the difference between her and Epica, for example.

I also recommand
Aghora
Thorr's Hammer

I enjoyed Aghora, I love when bands mix jazz and metal, and her voice is soft and really fits the sound, well I will thank you but I'm getting metal bands with female members instead of hardcore/post-hardcore influenced metal bands.

Alkonost
Stolen Babies

Kylesa
Acid King

Hammers of Misfortune
Peccatum
Ava Inferi
Darkestrah (good black metal vocals from a female? You better believe it)
Arkona (ditto!)
Sinner's Bleed (awesome death metal vocals from a woman, though she left the band)

Damn, I'm such a metal noob, I think I just sticked with my favourite bands you know? The only bands I know from the ones you listed were Kylesa, Acid King and Ava Inferi (from my country!), and I don't really listen to them that much, I just grew tired of searching new metal bands I didn't know about because in the end they all started sounding the same to me, so the only way I get to know new bands is once they get commercial success and everyone is talking about them, and I usually get dissapointed because of the blast of idiotic Djent coming up... The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting what so ever and these tyrant traitors like Michael Bloomberg ask "why we need AR-15's?" Why do you need jetcopters, fully armored redoubts and armed bodyguards? The anti gunners in power are the biggest hypocrites I've ever seen.

Your more likely to be killed by a deer than a gun, hands kill more people that guns should we ban those? Or better yet more people are killed with hammers should we label them assault hammers and ban them? Drunk drivers kill more people than guns yet we don't do shit about that.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people any who think gun control is the answer should tell that to the Jew of Nazi Germany, The millions dead at the hands of Stalin, the millions Mao killed in China and the millions Pol Pot killed in Cambodia. The U.N states in it's small arms treaty citizen ownership of firearms is a threat to the monopoly of force that only Government should have.

Without the second the rest of the bill of rights and constitution would be gone in a matter of days.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFfMooFBM8E

If you're going to use the argument that guns don't kill but people do, then why do you want a gun in the first place? So you won't kill while you're enjoying the possession of a gun? I mean if we're already able to kill with our bare hands, with tools, with our recklessness... Well, gives us guns, we might kill less!? But oh well, I'm an hippie-like pacifist that thinks all guns should be destroyed and all that stuff and bows should be used for hunting instead.

And don't you bring me the argument of self-defense, because in a civilized society, if we need guns to feel protected, then the problem is not in people not owning guns, but the lack of government's control in the criminality of your country. This being said, FUCK AMERICA! Just kidding, but sometimes you can be real cunts about guns.

Also, that video made me even more convinced of my own points, all I heard was delusional.
