Topic: Voice Actor Wanted

Posted: 07/19/08 01:05 AM

Forum: Audio

Hello all,
I'm 99% done with my latest flash... the only thing I need are a couple voice actors! I'm looking for three male voices (female playing a male is fine if you can pull it off):

Dr. Michael Scotts (Praetorian version): The evil, arrogant supergenius and villain. In his late twenties/early thirties.
Felis Kir: A company president and informant. In his twenties, a little on the sarcastic side.
Kuroda Yuuki: A normally easygoing young man whose best friend is missing. His personality is like a typical shounen hero -- determined, good-natured. Also in his twenties.

The basic story is as follows:
Several years ago, the Dr. Scotts of the present designed an orbital space station called the ALEXIS in an attempt to provide a cheap, easy means of alternative energy through harnessed radiation. Unfortunately, a fatal design flaw ended in the destruction of the station along with everyone aboard -- all except for Scotts himself. Years later, the memory of that incident still looms over the subconscious of the citizens of Paragon City... especially that of Michael Scotts himself, who has taken to fighting crime under the alias Radiant Beam in order to ease some of his conscience. With the almost simultaneous appearance of a station in orbit around the Earth that seems almost identical to the ALEXIS of the past and the disappearance of the one person who might be able to give insight on why and how this new ALEXIS exists, those who know the scientist are left with only one option: to track down both.

Yeah, but I thought it would be cool to work with someone else for a change. Doesn't look like anyone else has any ideas, though, so maybe you're right.

Ah, I had no idea. I was wondering what happened, cause the last time I was here, you couldn't walk three steps without kicking a writer in the nuggets.

Thanks <3.

So I've submitted a couple of practice animations to Newgrounds, but they're all lacking a story. And since I lack an understanding of the stuff Newgrounders like, I decided to look for someone to work with, whether it's a writer, another artist, or none of the above.

The stuff I submitted is all in my profile, so take a look and drop me a line if you're interested.

From what I have seen on these forums, offering to shell out professional pay gets professional work.

Also, I think someone took your idea already.

You know a flash site has come into its own when it can afford art snobs :)

The people to ask about this might be those who have already submitted to a site in a language that isn't their first (e.g. Vinnie Veritas or SamBazKa). I'm sure a great deal of why there isn't too much intermixing is the language barrier: most people don't have the ability to make something in another language even if they wanted to. And if you don't know the language, how do you know what site to post your flash on?

As for magical jobs from Japan, I'd say it's pretty unlikely. Competition's fierce, so unless you're really good, I doubt they're going to go with someone who can't speak the language over people who have spent years animating and, additionally, are native speakers.

It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure giving out T-shirts and posters of yourselves and signed by yourselves is really a huge motivator to people who aren't already fans. On an unrelated note, your sound is also really similar to bands already out there (although since there are apparently so many of them, it must be a popular style). Good luck with your contest, though, I'm sure there are people out there who will be excited to join.

People constantly making annoying, repetitive comments about something you can't help and thinking they're original about it?

Congrats, you now have a miniscule taste of what I've been going through for over two decades as someone who lives in the US and isn't white. Be grateful you have a place to go back to for a reprieve from it all :P.

It must be a super amazing idea if you're afraid someone will steal it just from giving a quick rundown. Either that, or a super lame, cliched one.

Unfortunately, it's usually the latter. You'll have more luck pitching your idea honestly than you will being mysterious about it.

Why don't you try using two sets of layers for the sword, one for when it's in back, and one for when it's in front? For example, if we're swinging from back to front:

Top: blank keyframe
Middle: person
Bottom: sword

Then simply switch top and bottom at the midpoint where the sword is not clearly in front or in back of the person. The bottom frame will then contain nothing, and you can start animating the rest of the sword's movement on the top layer.
