Hello, I really liked my concept, but the tests I have done of it really aren't up to par in my opinion.
I am just letting you know that I will not have any more time to finish this project. Sorry. :/
I did have some fun with the vocals and some of the sight gags, but the transition that actually made the piece "spooky" was not in the cards.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I am looking forward to the other submissions as well! The PO3 was very inspiring to watch, so seeing the little reminder on the side of the screen when I logged in for PO4 really encouraged me to participate.

Not only that I was able to come up with some great puzzles that pushed the limits of my game engine, and have come up with better optimization and interaction hierarchies to make implementation more fluid.

There are four screens in the game. There are 16 collectibles, that is 4*4. Most objects have only four sides. There are four musical tracks. There are four content creators, one game designer and three musicians. The game is called QUAD::FOUR MAZE, I didn't even use an S to keep proper form, and it takes place in the Quadspace. The icing on the cake? The entire game was made in only FOUR DAYS! From 10/10/2014 to 10/14/2014. It wasn't easy! That is just taking four to the extreme!

Thanks for the advice, I got it working now. :)

Anyway, I only got one taker, so I am going to add the link here for anyone to give it a try. I think that this may make a good Power of 4 entry if I strip it down to 4 colors instead of 6. I would like more feed-back before I put more time into this project. It is easier to fix issues sooner than later. :)

I hope you enjoy the two short levels. Let me know if there is any lag.

Also, if you get stuck, here are two hints.

First, you have to be orange and walk into the blue block that is blocking the covered room n the upper right part of the first screen. Opposite colors cancel out.

Second, the idol at the end of the orange temple (the three white squares in the upper right) has to be orange. Then you can see on the first screen that one of the 6 locks at the to of the map has opened.

This could be your chance to sink your proverbial teeth into the next installment of Terrible Design's difficult games!

Anyway, I thought I was making a quick block puzzle game, but no. I go and make an overzealous adventure game instead. Anyway, I have 2 screens done so far. A small part of the overworld and the first dungeon.

I would like to get some beta testing/feedback on what other people think before I throw more time at this project. It took way too long to make the first dungeon. I also regret the graphics style because that takes longer to put together. It does look nice though.

I have no idea how beta testing on this site works, so let me know if you are interested and I will figure the rest out. I should just be able to add your user name to the project list as a beta tester. Apologies in advanced if this is the wrong forum for these kinds of things, but it is a Flash game.

No problem. I have a bit of stuff to do for the next week or two so don't worry if you don't hear too much from this project. Now if it is like October and I haven't posted the terrible part yet, then you can send me a reminder. I do want the last part to look good.

Response to: Halloween '14 (girl In A Room Ii) Posted August 20th, 2014 in Collaboration

The "chase" is in one room. The white room is a virtual reality of sorts or Holodeck if you will. The room pans to the left where they evaporate into the "real" room. So technically two rooms, but no hallways. I'm not drawing more than I have to. ;)
Glad that you like the idea. I will definitely have enough time to get this done.

I like your idea, but I think it could work better if you were able to keep it isolated to the single room for the most part.

Is this still open for new people? I got a good twist.

It starts out all terrible and crap - hey that's kind of my thing. The girl gets chased by some ugly thing then they run through the wall and evaporate. This reveals a cozy office with someone hooked up to a brain reading machine all scifi and stuff. Doctors all like "Why don't you make anything useful/good". Dude in the thinking cap is all like "Maybe I don't want to." Meta commentary if there ever was any. Also, that ending part is animated well. What a twist!

I'm just glad someone had the common sense to change the thumbnail from my lawnmower to something better without me having to suggest it.

If we get a vote, my favorite was "2010: Jimi Heselden". It is America's #1 Segway death.

Response to: YouTube and Animators Posted August 3rd, 2014 in NG News

Back in the day, YT was looking for original content after the Google acquisition so people would come to the website for more than the copywritten TV content that they had no copyright to post. That was a boon for animation and even gave some classics a second wind.

Let me tell you about "Charlie the Unicorn", and ignore the join date on this profile.
Way back when it was uploaded to NG, I was one of the first people to see it in the portal during judging. I even gave it a 5! Wow!
Fast forward two/three years, and all of a sudden everyone is quoting the hell out of it, and I was like "What?" This was my first experience with NG content migrating to YT years later. Of course the "original" YT upload was a rip posted by someone other than Secret Agent Bob/FilmCow. This was great for the original creator as this was the kind of original content YT needed if it was going to be viable in the future.
However, it seems that YT system still favors the animators that were first to market. Although it was great to see Neil Cicierega get some more love as he was always one of my favorites with his "animulations", I have not seen any original animations being touted by YT that aren't by those already established on YT. In this regard, I agree that posting exclusively to YT will only limit your potential reach. They don't care about newcomers that can't play the metric game. :(

However, Newgrounds does! :) If you don't get Blammed.

As far as what I recall about NG's perceived image, most of my peers only recalled the "mature" section. Most people responses were "Yeah/Ew there are girls getting in the ass on there!" In reference to a certain classic Britney Spears Flash. I'm not even sure they looked at the front page, haha. So if there are plans to move the adult material, I am all for that! NG is much more than animated T&A. I will also admit it is funny to see games/movies get better scores than other similar quality content because there is a bit of "erotic" nudity. If the vote buttons on this new website isn't an erection of sorts, I will be disappointed.

On a side note, maybe have a website for controversial content? I vote for 9/11part2 as the name.

The most growing pains I remember Flash games/animations going through came with the Adobe acquisition of Flash coupled with the explosion of new web browser updates. You would find that one browser would run one game fine, but crash in another. It was not uncommon to have buttons not respond properly in Firefox and have to use IE! Yes, use IE to play a game! This was before Chrome came, and even then Chrome had some growing pains supporting Flash. Now it seems to be fine, but then again Flash Player 12 could mess it all up!

Overall, it would seem that the latest tech bubble is all about ad revenue. If NG can make it through this by getting even better ad revenue, I say go for it, but I wouldn't put all of my chickens in that boat. I believe that lowering the barrier to Flash game design is one major way NG can help bring in more new talent. Flash is a great all-in-one tool for game design! Too bad the documentation is horrid! There is no way a total beginner could make anything exciting in 30 days.

TL;DR:
Posting exclusively to YT is silly. Making a separate adult content website is a great idea. Helping facilitate new game designers can bring in new talent.
