Response to: Do you hate pop music? Posted June 30th, 2014 in Audio

I don't HATE any one genre of music, but a lot of mainstream pop is very similar and mediocre imo. I liked it a lot better when synthpop was new/innovative. Now all they play on BPM (XM radio's EDM station) is minimalistic house bullsh!t with seductive female vocals.

However, I also just hate listening to the same 5 songs over and over again. That's why about 80% of the music on my iPod is from Newgrounds and Soundcloud, and mostly NG, for that matter. I got sick of Paramore's new song after a week, but I'll download stuff like this any day. ;)

Completely agree with @Chemiqals, btw.

Response to: Is Norway a good place to live in? Posted June 28th, 2014 in General

Personally, I don't know first-hand, as I don't live in Norway, but from what I've heard, it's a great place to live in. Generally pretty safe and everything. Although pretty much all countries have good AND bad places to live within them. I have seen Norway in a number of lists regarding happiest people, highest average income, etc. On the contrary, it's also very expensive to live there, in part because of the enormous heating bills, I believe. I'm sure you could do much more research on the Internet, though. ;)

Thanks! :D I don't think there's really any proper way to interpret anything, especially a short poem written by a high school-age kid in 90 seconds. XD I was sort of thinking about how sex requires some sort of devotion, whereas masturbation is solely for selfish personal pleasure. Masturbation simply creates false expectations of a fantasized partner, especially when pornography is involved. That's why I mention the "land of lies." The goal of masturbatory fantasies is, in a way, to create a feigned sense of mutual devotion. Anyway, interpret it however you want, though. XD

my haiku yesterday was lazy.

I didn't think it was that lazy...just clever and amusing! ;)

A sonnet! Cool! :D

Overall, I think it's really good. I love the dark tone and descriptive imagery.

A couple of small things you can do to improve it, though:
1. Overall, you did a good job with the rhyme scheme, but the "relief-->knees" one is bothering me.
2. If you want to get really fancy, you could make each line have the same number of syllables or make a pattern with the number of syllables a line has (i.e., 1st, 3rd, etc. have 10, and 2nd, 4th, etc. have 12).
3. Line 9 you say "many have now been..." but in line 11 you say "have all now been." Repetition is usually good, so why don't you change "have all now been" to "all have now been?" Again, this is a pretty strict structural thing...

Nice work overall! I can tell you put some effort into this one. Keep up the good work! ;D

P.S.: have you considered joining the Writers' Guild of Newgrounds?

It is important for a writer to not only write, but read the works of other writers out there. Who here reads and what do you have on your summer reading list? Who is your favorite author?

My summer reading list is already unrealistically too long, but some of the books I'm most excited to read include Six Years by Harlan Coben, Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, and The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin (although you might want to read the first two books in the series first, The Passage and The Twelve). I'm also planning on reading several collections of poetry by such writers as Sharon Olds, Pablo Neruda, and various others. ;)

Response to: recomended music program? Posted June 2nd, 2014 in Audio

Do you have an FL Studio Getting Started Guide? I had my head buried in that things for days on end before I learned how to maneuver my way around the program. Assuming you're still in school, summer's a great opportunity to spend a few long afternoons learning the basics! ;)

Response to: Writer's Guild of Newgrounds (New!) Posted May 30th, 2014 in Writing

Yes! Finally, an organized group on NG for submitting works of poetry and stuff! >:D Count me IN!

1. TheDoor6, or just Andrew.
2. Poetry + short stories (mostly sci-fi or "realistic fiction")
3. Listing ALL of my past works would take a while, but I've written many poems/short stories for the creative writing class I took at my high school last year, as well as a couple dozen poems and short stories made in my free time over the past couple of years. I've submitted some of my work to various contests, like the AANMA (Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics) Mystery Writers' Contest and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Much of it is incomplete, though, but I plan to change that over the summer. ;)
4. I think I'm not so great at being concise (as you can probably tell by this post), and I need to work on "showing" and not "telling" in my fictional works (if you know what I mean). I tend to be a little melodramatic, but I enjoy adding humor to my works. I think I often try to convey a message through my work, though, instead of just writing porn in ink.

Also, what are the requirements to be vice president and/or beta captain and/or Charlie captain? I might be interested in that as well...

Thanks for this incredible opportunity, Tremax! ;D

did you open and run the FLRegkey.reg file? it doesn't matter where it is on your computer, you just need to run it to add the info to your computer's registry to unlock the plugin.

Ya, I was positive I did...it just still showed up as the demo version in my project...I even refreshed the page and tried re-opening the tab. :/ Thanks for being so willing to help again, though! ^^

That's too bad...Xmillsa was probably the reason why I started downloading songs from Newgrounds so consistently. :'( I've heard he's a nice guy, though...maybe he'd be willing to reason with these artists? What a shame...the EnV catastrophe was easily condemnable, but this guy has essentially been a key part of the community for 6-7 years. T_T
As I've said before, if he wants to promote artists, that's fine by me. What I will not stand for is him monetizing the content he uploads without asking permission from the artists.

Yeah, I now understand that what he's doing is unjustified...I just found it a bit shocking since I've been using his channel to find new songs/artists on NG and SC for so long. I guess it was a little naïve of me to assume that all of those ads were 3rd-party. I do recall reading comments on Waterflame's YouTube channel notifying him that this guy was stealing his songs, but Waterflame seemed to be okay with it, at least at the time. I also recognize that this issue affects many more artists besides Waterflame, including you, Back-from-Purgatory. Oh, and "Only the Beginning" is an awesome song btw. Xmillsa really shouldn't be making money off of it, though...
