Writing on a chalkboard? Dust kinda gives me that impression.
Wow, that's actually a really good guess...but no.
Dust actually refers to resin, which is used to keep my bow from squeaking on the strings. The "board" refers to the fingerboard (i.e., the black piece under the strings).
Another haiku (just to keep this post relevant to the thread):
Self-discipline and
learning to learn merge in my
passion of 8 years.
Allow me to clarify further:

I would've never guessed that the first one was about drumming in a million years, but that's probably due to my own ignorance. 0_O
Can anyone guess what this one is about, though?
The dust dyes my hand

That's nothing! Here it's 80 degrees!

Well, okay...Fahrenheit, but still...
My summer's been alright. I have a ton of stuff I want to do this summer, and not a lot of time. :/ One of those things was being more active on the forums, though, so I guess that's going well! :)

Rampant Capitalism

Ugh...another controversial one. Sorry guys. I seriously hope no one takes offense to this. I just think that, while capitalism is fuel for innovation and social mobility, there are also a lot of "losers," if you know what I mean. I'll keep the political ones to myself from now on.

Sorry for the double post, just noticed this. Anyway, every judge listens to all the submissions and produces a top 64. The lists are then tallied to produce a final top 64, with any tiebreakers settled by the judges after the tallies are made.
Huh, that's cool. Is there any way you could post how many judges voted for each person after the auditions? I probably won't get in, but knowing that at least one judge had me in the top 64 would mean a lot! :')

Awwww...mentioning me in your little ol' forum post. :') Always a fan, Johnfn, always a fan. That reminds me...I gotta review your latest track! These damn driving lessons and college essays have gotten me behind on my reviews. :O

GAH! Then why did I do it?! XD Please excuse my inexperience...haha.
Fruity Soundfont Player costs $35 and comes with a pretty cool preset "String Ensemble" that I've used before. You can also use it to get all sorts of free samples like these. Although I'd be careful if you're using a PC because you can get viruses really easily by downloading tons of samples. ;)
Aw, man...I kind of liked the YouTube showcase idea...plus I really wanted to hear what a Maltese accent sounded like! ^^

Aw, thanks, LSD! :D I am, but I think I'm going to do some experimenting in FL for a while before submitting any audition entries. With all the talent in this competition, it's a long shot for me just to make auditions! :P I'm still super-excited though, because this competition has generated boatloads of awesome songs over the years! :D

The other cheek turned…
Haha! That one was good! :D
Interesting how the religious people here find it strange that I find value in writing about religion (given that I'm not religious), while the non-religious people perfectly understand! XD I definitely WAS NOT trying to disrespect anyone, btw. I just think religion is really interesting, and it's definitely worth telling a story about. After all, The Bible is easily the best-selling book of all time.
Anyway, haiku incoming:
Morning Jog
I suddenly stop,
body leaping ahead of
itself. Finish line.
Sign in Blood
For the world had grown
to neglect what He would save.
Forgiveness remains.
I'm not really religious...but religion sure is worth writing plenty of haikus about, eh? :)
Personally, I've only ever been to the U.S. and Canada, so I can't speak from experience for many of these other countries...but America and Canada are pretty nice countries. :) I've heard Norway is also a nice place to live, though expensive...
