I wanna say give it about 6-8 weeks since you're over 40. Of course you'll have to limit your activities to maximize the healing process. It really depends on a whole bunch of factors such as how it was broken,which rib, prior injuries, age, etc. so recovery time for these injuries aren't always black & white. Have you sought medical attention for this?
Also as far as I've seen in my, officers, NCO's and junior enlisted get treated the same. I'll just say this, under my care you're better off if you're not a dick or a whiny bitch - regardless of rank.

Well, I've worked directly with lpn's and rn's while I was at an army clinic. I'm a medic so I doubt I'll have the answers you're looking for, since my training/education is very different from what a civilian nurse would undergo. But feel free to ask me whatever.

Yeah... I had a few of those while working at the clinic. Or while doing one of those incredible stupid tasks I get from my unit. Times when people don't have their shit together so I end up spending an entire day mowing a target range with a shitty lawnmower literally in the middle of a jungle. Or when patients decide they want to show up late to their fucking appointment so I gotta spend the entire morning or afternoon playing catch-up. I get shit on on a regular basis.

I can't say it was worth it from an educational or occupational perspective. I never ended up declaring a major because none of the fields I attempted to study were of any interest to me so I dropped out after my 2nd year. I did meet some of my best friends in college, though I only regularly talk to like... one of them.

I'm reluctant to continue my studies. College was the final nail on what was once my love of learning. Actually, that died long before that point :p
