I look forward to the time when we all start calling 'gay marriage' just 'marriage'...because, y'know, that's all it is.

We will have to alter the term marriage in the dictionary first, but I wouldn't mind that.

Eh...

The only girl I liked in High School just wanted my money because I had a part time job. It fucking sucks. Since I didn't care about anyone else in High School, I didn't bother going to prom. Never really regretted it to be honest, because it's not worth paying $70 to go alone.

If you want to join the USMC because of the assault rifles, just enlist yourself right after high school. Once you're done serving, then you can attend college to become a police officer later in life.

That way, you have done both.

I want to bump this thread, because there's a new video of the West, TX fertilizer explosion. Also in a few hours (depending on time zone), it will mark the one year anniversary since the tragedy.

Despite the incident, this video of the explosion is incredible!

Movies for teenagers =/= Completely retarded movies.

Movies aimed mostly at teenagers made in the past few years like Iron Man, The Avengers, The Dark Knight and the Harry Potter movies, just to name a few, prove than big blockbuster movies don't have to be plotless, boring, humorless, explosion fests like Bayformers.

I know, but I'm just quoting that Michael Bay's intended audience is teenage boys, not adults who grew up with the older versions.

Then why Hollywood don't create new properties to be enjoyed by the new audiences instead of using already existing ones? Obviously they're also trying to attract the older crowd who grew up with, or at least had some memories of, the Ninja Turtles.

Yes. It is quite a shame that Hollywood chooses to recreate older franchises. But...

Making a carbon copy of what was already made would be entirely pointless, so if Hollywood insists on bringing back something, then they need to at least make a new "spin" on it. Otherwise, the movie would be panned for re-hashing the same material countless times.

Also they have to consider what would make them the most money, and the people at Hollywood decided that changing various things in Ninja Turtles could bring in the most money; keeping some material that the older fans will enjoy, while providing something new and different for not only potential new fans, but for the older fans as well. I should quote another line from Buckley regarding where the turtles came from, "...maybe they don't want kids playing in toxic waste to try and gain super powers." It's rather ridiculous to think that would happen, but at the same time, the people at Hollywood wants to perhaps provide the scenario that makes a little more sense (while avoiding an improbable lawsuit). Reality is... you can't gain super powers while dousing in toxic waste, and this could alienate the newer audiences.

Bottom line: Hollywood wants to make money, and they make changes so they can get the most out of it.

I'm just going to quote something from Buckley, a guy who makes rants on the internet:

"Those remakes, reboots, and re-imaginings of movies like Transformers or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... those aren't for you! The reason it's being remade, is for a brand new audience. Why is your childhood so fucking important? It's gone! You're 20, 25, 30 even; you're childhood is fucking over. It's been over for a long time now. It's time to let it go. It's time to grow up and be an adult."

Honestly I hate the argument that the movie is going to suck because "IT'S RUINING MY CHILDHOOD!" How? The classic cartoon series and movies are still available to buy at Amazon.com and other retailers, so unless Michael Bay has the ability to go back in time to change the series all together, you're childhood isn't ruined. What ruined your childhood? TIME, and GROWING UP.

Rant over.

Dire Straits and Ferngully? Posted March 23rd, 2014 in General

When I was watching the music video, "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits, I noticed the two workers in the video looked oddly familiar. It didn't take me long to realize that the two workers looked a lot like Tony (in red) and Ralph (in blue) from Ferngully. Is this a coincidence, or were some of the animators of Ferngully big Dire Straits fans?
