Topic: How'd you think of your music name?

Posted: 06/17/08 03:45 AM

Forum: Audio

I came up my "artist" name over 10 years ago when i started to compose music. I also used the same name when me and my friends had some LAN parties and after several music compos people started to know me more musician SyTeQ than gamer. Before that i imagine myself as AcidGem, but that name was already taken so SyTeQ started to fit more and more in :) And that name has kind of electro spice in it xD

Topic: We should create a new genre

Posted: 05/30/08 04:28 PM

Forum: Audio

Ok... I think we should take down those sub genres. I mean... There is too many sub genres in those "main" genres so i dont think we need anymore those.

Like one great fellow said...

I think its not bad idea but chillout goes, as i know, to electro genre. And electro genre is sub genre to early Techno music that i know.

There is too much music genres these days and as i see chllout is fsub genre to ambient and ambient is sub genre to electro and so on...

So... if you dont find the genre you like then try out misc. genre. wich is best genre that i know. :)

Topic: Good programs to use for Metal?

Posted: 07/26/07 06:26 PM

Forum: Audio

hm... There is no program to make Metal genre. Or making heavy metal with softare is almos same thing as making electronic music. So.. start a band and make music with them. Nothing beats acoustic playing.

BUT... You can always record your guitar riffs and use some music making program to make bass, drums chords in to it.

ModPlug tracker is one good freeware program, Skaletracker too...

Here is one good artist who makes music that way

Quasian

SKaletracjer is good program for those who are familiar for Fasttracker 2. I use Skaletracker basicly when im making beats and some simple loops. Other good tracker program what i use is Modplug tracker. Many also say at Jeskola Buzz Tracker is really good but i´m not much familiar that one but its worth of try.

Anyways... Try Try as many music programs what you can get and that program what feels best is propaply your choise.

Topic: Creation/inspiration of a new song

Posted: 07/12/07 06:56 AM

Forum: Audio

My inspiration comes from music it self. It depends what kind of music i want to do. If i want to make classical, I listen classical and so on. Feelings are great part in my music. Some times just one single sound can give a major inspiration and i make new song around that single sound.

Anyways... When I start to make some Big Beat/ Break beat track I always start from the beat. I make some simple loop and put some extra effects in to it and of course mixing some other beats in to it aswell. When the beat is some what ready i start to find or create some lead, bass and chord sounds. This takes lots of time but its the most fun part in whole progress. When i have finally put everything together i strat to put some effects to sounds. Mostly distrortion, delay effects, compression.... When the track is somewhat finished i listen it many times and do some final mixing in it. So... The new track is finished and after that I let other people decide is the track good or not.

First of all...

Why heavy guitars?? I mean making indrustiall isnt just guitars :)

Second... Why just from Finland? This is internationall audio submit place so when you make this kind of competition you must make it to every one. If you want to make to just for finnish people do it at site www.mikseri.net or some other finnish music site. Thanks

Greets from northern Finland!! :D

hm... I have same kind of problem when i make music. Notheng what i make isnt new... Or is it??? ok... here a some advice. Drop all those instruments/ samples what you use and start straight clean board. This i mean. burn all those samples to some cd or dvd, how ever you like and take new fresh instruments.

For example... my tracks "Plastic thing" and "Wooden men" are pretty much same. After those tracks i tried to make something much different but i have so called inspiration block.

So... i cleaned up all of my instruments and stated to search new ones nad after awhile i made track "Rough Concrete" wich is pretty much different than those two.

Making music isnt always fun. We all have that lost of inspiration sometimes so best way to have that back is start on clean board.
