What are the current export settings you're using?
Usually, I'm using:
300 DPI (or the highest I can get away with)
Include: Minimum Image Area (So that it usually autosizes to however big I made the image)
Color: 24 bit with Alpha Channel (Sometimes I ditch the Alpha Channel if stuff like this happens)
Filter: Adaptive
Interlaced & Smooth
I've been using Flash for years, but for a while now, I've noticed a few problems that occasionally happen on export.
I make a comic on SparkComic.com mainly using Flash and I usually export it to Photoshop when I'm done to either add a few things or prepare it for formatting. However, occasionally, something like this happens...
Not only does the picture come out with a huge amount of Whitespace every time (which is easy to crop out and actually tends to help to make sure I'm not making it too small, though it would help if I knew why this happens) but sometimes I get this random color glitch that totally messes up everything and I have to experiment with my export settings to get it out. Even on the same settings I usually use, sometimes this happens and other times it doesn't. What is causing this? How do I optimize Flash's export options?
Thanks guys! I messaged Tom Fulp and he gave me access to upload videos after showing him what I wanted to put up! :)
Here's the video, it's an animation I made about a year ago: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/598020
I'd love to hear all of your opinions on it. :)
I haven't been on Newgrounds in a while, but recently I've noticed that you can now upload videos on Newgrounds. The previous inability to do this is the only thing that stopped me from uploading my last animation. However, when I tried uploading my animarion, I see no option for uploading video format. I can't seem to find any information at the site telling me how. Can anyone explain to me how to upload videos onto Newgrounds?
I've played plenty of the PS2 Gundam games and I loved them. Federation Vs Zeon will always hold a special place in my heart. :)
As an original experience, Mario 3D Land is better. It actually makes 3D seem necessary to play.
However, if you haven't played Ocarina of TIme yet, get Zelda 3D.
Zelda has more bang for your buck in my opinion though. Had I not had to go over to my relative's house for Christmas Dinner, I would've finished Mario in one day instead of two. I got Zelda 3D back when it came out and it took much longer.
Both games are great in fun though. :)
One REALLY weird film that I saw was Coraline. By the end of it, I was just like, "WTF is happening?!" O_O
The Last Airbender... Just watching that shit was a gigantic insult to both me and humanity. Death to M. Night Shymalan!
So, I looked at a couple of pages and my complaints are mostly the same as everyone elses. Unrefined pencils, very badly structured pages (Which could've been fixed by examining any comic ever and noting its layout) and bad text.
One thing that does bother me is the style itself. Don't get me wrong, I love all sorts of styles, even the anime/manga style, but try to make it unique will you? Right now it's a cross between the copying Masashi Kishimoto's look (I understand it's some sort of Naruto fanfic or something, still doesn't mean it has to look EXACTLY like it) and the generic crap we see in those "How to draw Anime" books that need to be burned. You're falling into a trap many artists and even myself have fallen into and trust me unless you are an expert at it, it will get you nowhere. Make your art look unique; it should be like a second signature. It's a difficult task to create a unique look especially in this day and age, but just look at your favorite artists and take a bit of inspiration from each of them to build up something that is you. Also research artistic principles like anatomy. As an artist, anatomy should be your best friend and once you learn it, you'll find adapting or deforming it to match certain styles will both look good and be insanely easy. Personally, I recommend creating a comic based on your own story that you make yourself, not a fan fiction, but that's not for me to say. You are in charge of what you make your stories about.
Also, read Scott McCloud's books, particularly "Making Comics" It's a Comic on how to make comics and is very good for learning this sort of thing. :)
I am using CS5 it's not any better at exporting than the previous versions of Flash.
Hi, I'm doing a Flash animation for a production class. I need it to be a video because A) the project requires it and B) I wanted to green screen part of it.
Problem, I can't seem to get my animation to export properly no matter how hard I try. The best it will export is with the video randomly leaving lines from the previous frames on screen for several seconds which screws up the whole video.
Does ANYBODY know a good method or program for turning a flash animation into a high quality video?
I really appreciate your help!

Metroid: Other Mess - Voice Actors needed for Flash Project
I was excited for Metroid: Other M and got it on Day 1 with a Pre-Order. After finishing it in 3 days, quite frankly I think it sucked. I was going to make one issue of my webcomic to make fun of it, but I got so many ideas on how to make fun of it, I thought why not make a full blown flash parody of it?
This is where you come in.
Currently the script is being developed (I just decided to do this yesterday). My tablet pen is currently broken so while I get that replaced I can write the script, get Voice Actors (Hopefully) and develop my art style to accommodate the Metroid Universe. I'll start animating this after I get my tablet pen and finish a short test animation I was doing.
Anyway, here's the information for auditions
Characters
Samus Aran
The protagonist of the Metroid Series.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like an edit button on Newgrounds forum's postings. Sometimes we screw up really badly on our posts or topics we create. It would be a huge convenience to be able to edit our posts if we need to. This will definitely prevent people from double posting and make things clearer should a mistake be made.
Now who's with me?
Just a bit of a personal question out to all artists out there.
Do you guys typically only use your pencils for rough work rather than an actual finished product?
Personally, I find that I've lately been drawing only the rough stuff and then going to the computer to get it fully fleshed out. I was just wondering if anyone else is going through the same thing. I don't mind using the computer for the final picture, I like using programs to add some extra flare to my work, but don't really like it because it seems like I'm losing a grip on my real-life drawing ability since my work has been coming out so rough on paper.
Hi. My flash is done but there's audio sync problems in the publishing. The audio is on stream and it works well when trying it normally on the timeline, but the audio starts just a few frames before the previous scene ends in the published version so I'm not sure why. Any ideas as to what it could be?
Forgot to mention, it works fine in the Timeline, but it doesn't work when I test or publish the movie. Only the audio in the scene with the actual content (Not the loading screen or logo scenes) is off. For some reason, the audio starts a few frames before the end of the scene before it. What's going on?

Hi, I'm new to Flash CS4 (I've been using Flash MX 2004 until recently) and I was wondering where the timeline effects are. I can't find the bloody things. I'm trying to make one of my symbols explode.

Wait what?
You have an animation with a different speed that you import...in another file? But the original file is different? And the file you're working on can't change it's frame rate?
I could change the frame rate if I want to, but I want to test animating in 24FPS. The animation I want to import runs at 12 FPS.
You're trying to make Flash animations and are wondering what program to use... Are you serious?
I'm making my second flash animation (YAY) and I want to use my logo sequence animation after my loading screen. Problem is that my previous flash and the logo sequence are both 12 FPS. I'm having a whack at my second flash in 24 fps. When I import the logo animation the frame rate difference creates obvious speed problems. I've tried pasting frames from my previous flash as well as importing the swf file of the logo animation and neither of them work (in fact, the latter just gives me a white screen).
Is there a way I can import the logo animation so that it adapts to the frame rate?

I have a questions about using the fill or paint bucket tool in photoshop.
For some reason, whenever I use them, it fills the section I want but there's an untouched outline of the section separating the line and the fill. Is there any way I can make it fill the whole section and not have the line and color separated?

I'm not talking about the art portal, I'm talking about the flash portal. I made my first flash a few weeks ago and it features some non-original music and a clip of Rick Astley for a brief Rickroll (Not of the viewers but of the character).
Could I be sued on the content in this flash of mine? I believe it falls under fair use laws.

The Anti-Alias and Tolerance doesn't seem to work for me. For some reason, it looks fine when it's zoomed in but when I take a look at the overall picture the outlines/spaces are there. Can anyone help me here or at least explain why the spaces are there?
Also, could someone explain what TurkeyOnAStick about the linework? I understand what he means about duplicating and setting it to multiply but what exactly does that do?
