Thanks nexusknight!

DrFox, it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 15 hours, depending on how focused on the piece I am or how much detail I want to implement, or the medium I'm using or what style I want to focus on.

Here's a background for a flash I might work on some more if I find the time; I figured I'd post it here because I almost never draw actual environments.

So I've got some of that 4-AcO-DMT coming in the mail this week and plan to research its effects soon. I'm really excited about it, since I've read up on a large number of positive reviews.

Concerning its legality, the substance itself isn't actually illegal, though it's the acetate ester of psilocin, which is itself illegal. The only esters that were explicitly illegalized under the Analog Act are opiate esters. 4-AcO-DMT is therefore legal to buy, sell, and own, but NOT to consume.

Another thing to be aware of is the fact that the freebase form of 4-AcO-DMT degrades into psilocin fairly rapidly, and within a few months you could find yourself in possession of a scheduled drug. In fact, if like 1 or 2% of it degraded into psilocin and tests come up positive that it contains that much, you could be tried for having a quantity of psilocin equivalent to your entire stock of 4-AcO.

TL;DR: It's legal to have, just be wicked careful about how you word things, and don't snort a line of it in front of a cop. It'd also be a good idea to either have a reliable means of storage or convert it to a salt that will keep longer.

Getting stoned after not sleeping for 4 days yields interesting results... Combine eye wobbles with occasional hallucinations glimpsed from the edge of your peripheral vision and it's an entirely new high.

So much for working on finals tonight...

Out of curiosity, has anyone here tried research chemicals, like stuff from the 2c family or 4-AcO-DMT or anything like that? I've been thinking about sampling some of them myself, but they're sort of expensive.

I'd like to if I have time; right now it's finals week and instead of spending a few hours on this I should really have been working on all the final projects I haven't started yet.

I know quite a few people who started with a Bamboo, it's a solid little tablet. However, if you're strongly considering making an invested hobby out of your digital work, I recommend you skip the Bamboo and go straight for an Intuos 4. It's a little more expensive, but many professionals swear by it. I have one myself and it's spoiled me to the point where using anything less gets irritating.

Heyo! Another art for you guys! I really appreciated the reviews on the last one I posted, so thanks a lot. Getting feedback on stuff really helps me feel like I'm not just pumping out random crap to clog the intertubes with a slurry of lame content that nobody cares about, and I just wanted to say that, even beyond the useful reviews, you guys are helping me get better by motivating me!

I'm also looking forward to hearing back on the latest song I posted for review, but I may have exceeded my audio limit, since it was placed in "extra reviews" a couple weeks back. Should I post it again in a few weeks if you guys don't get to it by then?

As always, thanks, and keep doing what you're doing! You guys rock!

Hey I drew another thing, but only because I'm supposed to be working on something else. Somehow I can only ever be productive while procrastinating... Quite the paradox...

Been playing Skyrim. It's a great game, despite some of the (occasionally frustrating) glitches here and there. I hope this image doesn't somehow come as a spoiler to anyone who's still playing through the main quest line.

Still getting practice with that painting method... Because of that, this took an EXTREMELY long time to do. I'd put it at maybe 3 or 4 hours. I hope I can just blame not being accustomed to the workflow, because this should have taken like 45 minutes, looking at it now.

You guys are doing a great job, keep it up! I'm really getting a lot out of the audio reviews you've been giving me, since it helps so much to know how my music sounds to other peoples' ears.

Thanks for putting up with all my experimental bullshit!

Hello!

I can do sprites, animation, GUI, concept art, and music. I can probably pull off some background art, but I'm not so experienced with that. I have a pretty solid foothold in modeling and animating 3D characters.

For some reason your current build link refuses to load for me.

This one's older than the last one I asked for help with, but I used the critiques from that last one to go back in and fix this one up a bit. I think it's a little better, if at least more conservative with dem wubs.

Also, thanks for your awesome reviews on that last one, guys! I really appreciate it. Honest reviews like that really do go a long way toward helping me improve.

Making Edits Posted November 15th, 2011 in Audio

Hello! I recently redid a part of one of my songs and tried to swap the file in the edit menu, as well as update the song description. The description part went through, but it's still the same old song. Does it just take a bit to update or is there some kind of issue with this? Thanks!

Gave up on the croc for now, I just don't feel like doing that much detail with the scales. Maybe I'll come back to it when I finish this:

Workin' on this thing now... Something feels very slightly off about the foreshortening. Also can anyone tell me how to make a good texture brush for highlighting scales? I ended up doing some texture highlights on the frog, but it would be a lot more work on this croc because there's more surface area to cover and its scales are a higher resolution.

I feel like I need darker shadows, too, but I'd appreciate some input on that.

Response to: Kupia's Art Posted October 26th, 2011 in Art

The last one looks good. His hands are a little bit small, and you could use a bit of work on foreshortening, as the gun shows, but I like the shading and the details. I recommend you try observing different cloth materials and how they fold when worn.

I tried big-johnny-13's tutorial suggestion and came up with this. It's fast work, so it's not great, but I'm glad I checked the tutorial out. I plan on trying to do more stuff like this in the future.

gman, I'll try to get more depth in my drawings. Do you have any advice on techniques that can help with that, aside from just darkening my darks and lightening my lights? Maybe some advice on backlighting? Thanks!
Well, I have a question. What are you using for your shadows and highlights?
Are you using the burn and dodge tools?
I find that using actual colours to shade works out better than using those tools in most cases.
Here's a painting tutorial in PS, might give you a hand with that.

I've been doing the shadows in grayscale and then splashing color over everything. I've tried a few different methods of coloring, but I enjoy the grayscale one the most because I'm lazy. Thanks for the tutorial though, I'll check that out and draw something according to what it says!

Any friendly advice or constructive input on the design of the characters I've posted so far? I understand they're a bit simplistic, but that should make them less complicated to critique, right?
