This thread made me curious and I had to check.

Over the past 4.5 years I've accrued roughly 46,000 total views for my art and 21,000 listens for my music, along with some random contributions to on-site games, though I admit I have a modest post count and rarely make news posts. I've appeared on the front page once, as far as I know.

I have 57 fans.

That number doesn't really surprise me though.

Pretty good taste there. My favorite SNES game might be Super Metroid. It is funny how awful all those low-definition games look now on super HD screens.

I have some of those too. I liked a few of the video games which came with some cool promo cards but I almost never actually got to play the card game.

Sometimes I spend my afternoon collecting wallpapers, so http://alpha.wallhaven.cc/ is a site I find myself on pretty frequently. It's like the spiritual successor to wallbase.
Actually one of my old roommates, @Aksumka made it. He's the guy responsible for this old Newgrounds Archive which he abandoned some time ago.

So I recently rediscovered my stash of Pokemon cards from way back, and as I was sifting through them I found some pretty good ones that I remembered being really excited about getting. Just for the hell of it, I looked up their values on ebay and discovered that a handful of them are now worth $500+ in good condition (namely my 1st edition starter trio), with many others being in the $100+ range.

I doubt I'd ever sell them though; I'm a fool for nostalgia and have a deep appreciation for sentimental value.

What kinds of things do you sappy bums have that you treasured as a kid? Would you sell them now if they could pay your rent for 6 months?

Response to: Post your favorite website Posted 2 weeks ago in General

http://lolbot.net/ is in my rotation for habitually-visited sites. Most of it is stupid or old but I like it because only a small amount of content appears per day, so it's limited as a procrastination-inducer.

Response to: Would you ever purchase CG art? Posted 2 weeks ago in General

You mean assets for games and animation? People already sell those but I'm sure you're aware.
If you're talking about purchasing prints of renders, I believe people already sell those as well.
If you're talking about purchasing a scene and having it be "yours" after paying for it, no. I don't think I would. Then again I create my own work so there's probably a bit of ego factoring into that statement.

I guess you'd have to elaborate on what you mean by "CG art." Did you plan on withholding your definition until someone expected to be paid for asking?

The most recent weird museum I visited was the Museum of Bad Art in Boston. It was pretty fun; they show the terrible paintings along with detailed analyses of the artists' intent and execution. Usually those are hilarious.

Not to be rude or anything, but it's probably not a good thing that you still believe exactly all the same things you believed as a barely-cognizant infant.

As for something I used to believe, I was told when I was a little kid by a friend's father that if I slept on an incline with my head pointing downward, all my blood would rush to my brain and my skull would explode.

"Neurological disorder"

Euphemism for psychological diagnosis made to align the king of voodoo pseudosciences (Psychology) to the academic evolution concerning the direct scientific study of the brain.

Actually, the difference between a neurological disorder and a psychological one is that the effects of a neurological disorder can be physically observed in the brain when triggered. They are provable reactions created by chemical imbalances that can be mapped, so no it's not a euphemism to anything so nebulous as you suggest. Pretty sure neurology is widely considered a credible branch of the anatomical sciences.

You can't be serious. What is your opinion on bad breath? Are people who find bad breath to be nauseating also mentally ill?

We aren't talking about the subtle sound of crunching chips, or teeth champing through an apple here. Those sounds are unavoidable because of the food's texture. We're talking about the entirely avoidable sound of partially digested food being mushed up between an uncivilized animal's tongue and teeth as they push the mushy bolus around with their lips open. Maybe you haven't eaten with messy people before but it is actually infuriating for a legitimate reason.

Actually, there IS a neurological disorder at work in some people who can't handle some of these sounds. I'm waiting for it to become the next ADD or OCD "there's something wrong with me" bandwagon all the hypochondriacs are going to latch onto.

Response to: The sound of someone chewing Posted 2 weeks ago in General

There's a legitimate neurological disorder called misophonia which causes sufferers to feel extreme anger or anxiety when they hear certain sounds. My girlfriend has it and the sound of people breathing makes her blood boil. She also happens to have very acute hearing, which isn't exactly a favorable trait for someone with the condition. Most of the time she can't sleep in the same room as me.

I'm a fan of the series. I love Firth's taste in music, really builds the surreal atmosphere necessary to pull the whole thing off. I prefer his smaller series and one-offs though, in general. He has more freedom to go on crazy tangents with them and they always end up somewhere ridiculous.
