I tried using YouTube tutorials, but they all seemed to be about plug-ins rather than samples downloaded from the Internet. I already put the sample into a folder in FL Studio, but when I opened it in the Step Sequencer it came up under the name "Sampler" and there was no sound. DX Do you know what's going on? Please help!
The specific codec that the sample is encoded in is not supported by the FL engine. Try converting it to the same or similar sound file type with an industry-standard codec.
Just peddling my new track, "Clear". It's a soft electro-house track, be sure to give it a listen!

I would like to know if this is generic enough.
I personally tend to blend the two together, but I make electronic music. I simply enjoy the sound and the style, though I certainly respect and enjoy organic musicians.
I refrain from calling organic instruments "real". As far as I can tell, anything that can make sound is a real instrument -- whether it be electronic or not.

I am telling this particular individual that they'd be saving money by customizing their own PC, since prebuilt purchases are not only for the parts; but for the brand as well. What are you on about? Second hands are fine. Well of course someone who thinks buying a used computer is dangerous will think ebay is too! I have doen it and it has saved me tons of money. Why buy a new laptop for nearly 1000 when I can buy a gently used one for 150-200$? Ebay is by no means dangerous if you buy from the right sellers, which should always be a top priority. This particular individual wants a laptop, and has already stated that twice that why I was giving help on that. I dont see why dropping a laptop recommendation is wrong if that all the OP is asking for.....

I spent about 900 for my rig, and it is currently running a quadcore i5 processor overclocked at 4.2 GHz, 8Gb of RAM, and a GTX 690.No it is not, you just said you bought yours for 900, and it looks decent to me. How would adding 1000$ more make it any more realistic? As I stated already, I spent 1200$ for mine back one year ago and it is still fantastic and one of the best and continue to be so long as I upgrade it every couple of years. Why would you spend so much? 2000$ is way too much.
Ebay is absolutely a dangerous place to purchase items. There is no warranty and absolutely no guarantee that you will get the product you want in the condition you want. Avoiding Ebay, especially for purchasing computers, should be avoided. Your argument is anecdotal, where as what I am saying is a fact. The danger of a scam on Ebay are very high and there is no way to get your money back if you are screwed. I am not saying you are wrong. I am saying that there are better options.
Have you looked at brand names and their prices recently? Two thousand is absolutely a more realistic price for a powerful laptop. Again, I am recommending customization because I only had to pay 900 for mine and it won't have to be upgraded for the next few years. You save money and get exactly what you payed for.
I've tried Ableton and decided it wasn't for me. I prefer FL10 because it feels more fluid to me. It's really up to you though. I recommend simply testing the trial editions out and making the decision yourself.

16gb is in no way "overkill". If you said 64 I'd agree that for an amateur it is indeed overkill but 16 is actually ideal for an amateur. On top of that $200 is in no way enough for a laptop that does more than open word documents.

If you meant 2000 dollars, pardon me.We are talking about laptops here, and I was talking about a used laptop. You can easily find a good laptop on ebay for less than 200$ with a fine processor and such. 2000$? Honestly if you think you need 2000$ to build or buy anything you must not be doing it right. You can build a top of the line computer for around....1000$-1400$~!
OP never said he wanted to customize his comp anyways, why do you jump to that conclusion? He said he wanted a prebuilt laptop. Lenovo or Alienware, and I said Lenovo... and that you can buy for less than 200-300 not new.

Well, I don't think you would get a better price for a powerful, relevant PC.

Bad news, my laptop can't be fixed. Turns out the motherboard's the problem (techy dude said it was the "display chip" the first time around).
Good news, all the more reasons to invest in building my own PC/not to own expensive shit since I always break them, one way or the other.
off to post this on Purgy's forum
Stupid motherboards... Definitely not as sturdy as fatherboards, amirite? Aww, you know I'm right. No, but seriously. Cyberpower is a fantastic place to start in customizing your PC.

Yes everyone is suggesting you build your PC, I would recommend the same but if you really want a laptop try not too spend more than 200$ on it
Buying an older model on ebay or something should bring up good results.
