We don't need less or more government, what we needs is more responsible and more accountable government. The government needs to be for the people, all the people, not just the rich or the very poor.
To answer the question, with the way the government is going we need less, Because socialism is not an answer that will work. It merely takes responsibility off the shoulders of the individuals to whom it belongs and puts it on the shoulders of the rich and the economically responsible. I'm not saying that those who lost their jobs are not responsible, I am merely trying to say that those who don't have to have direct responsibility for their own well being and can ride on the shoulders of society responsible generally will. This is why communism fails.
