I would also like to know, what you want to achieve.

Anyway, keep working on your lighting. For instance, watch for the primary light source.

I like the last one a lot, because it shows a story.
Storytelling in pictures something very important people have to keep in mind. And your picture is a good example.

Keep working, man. I see you are starting alright so far.

1. semester and looking for advice Posted October 20th, 2013 in Art

Hey there.

I'm in my first semester at university and currently studying graphic design. I just want to ask those of you, who are in some advanced semesters about how you deal with all that little spare time that you have between all the assignments and homeworks.
I know that I just began my university life and all, but I noticed that I don't have enough time left to work on some personal projects and shit.

How are you dealĂng with that issue? Is there a formular I could follow?
Thanks.

When making an icon there's a bit more to take into consideration than just how accurately the drawing is full-scale. Chances are, an icon will most of the time be smaller than 100x100 pixels, which means a lot of the detail will lose significance or disappear entirely.

Instead, the focus should be on the basic composition and mood. Additionally you may want to aim for making it distinct, memorable, and significant to yourself. Sort of to compliment your online persona, so to speak.

I know exactly what you mean by that - and I think you're right! -__-
Alrighty then. I think, I'll upload this picture in it's original resolution later and start working on something new and smaller then.

And what about this so far, people? I feel like, that I am nearly done with my avatar picture. Unless you can give me some suggestions on what I could improve/add/alter?

(I have already started working on two new pieces by the way.)

Here's a fixed version; does it look better now?

I seriously want this picture here to be my avatar. But before that happens, I'd like to know from you, if I should alter/improve anything in it. Please, give me some valid criticism, folks. Thanks.

Wow, somebody actually replied to this. I want to let you know, that you can get the game easily. Just check out the description of this video here, which shows the game's intro. Easy stuff - runs even on Windows 7.

Starsiege anyone? Posted July 23rd, 2013 in Video Games

I bet some of you might be familiar with the Starsiege TRIBES series, but are there actually people among you, who have played the original Starsiege (=Earthsiege 3) with the HERCs and all that?

I have to admit, that I prefer the apocalyptic atmosphere of Starsiege to all the clan warfare from Mechwarrior.

Starsiege anyone?

Response to: What animation desk is the best? Posted May 11th, 2013 in Animation

Alright, thank you guys anyway!
I think, I have chosen a good one so far, but I guess that normal printing paper is not the standard type of sheet used in animation, right? lol

What animation desk is the best? Posted May 10th, 2013 in Animation

Next summer I'll get an animation desk for my birthday, but the problem is that my folks want me to choose a specific one.

Could you guys please give me some tips on what I should look out for? Is the lightbox going to heat up the glass fast, so that I have to take some breaks?

Thanks!

I'm late to the party, but hey! This shit is too fucking funny.

Now, meet my TRUE ORIGINAL CREATION: Dickimon. A cybernetic COCK-BOT.
They naturally have big 'heads', ya know? And what is even more signifanct to their appearance is that they have a lot skin. And I mean A LOT.

Some people's ultimate goal in life isn't as shallow as "I want to make more money than you" Some people genuinely enjoy art and sacrifice worldly things like money to study and improve in it. All the while douchebags try to bolster their ego by shouting "ENJOY YOUR USELESS DEGREE FAGGOT" when nobody asked for or even cares about their opinion on the matter. Its sad really.

Despite the other obvious troll responses you usually see on /ic/, it seems that you guys understand what I want.

So, I will show the committee some comic artworks of me. In the past, I met teachers whose ignorance towards the medium comic was insanely high-toned. But I also met teachers, who still love comics and dig the same artists as I do, e.g. Jean Giraud. And I still do not believe that there are no university teachers, who do not like comics at all. I mean, as some have pointed out already: As long as it is well-done, it is good art. Hopefully, I will meet such people! lol

In the end, I'd like to thank all of you!

It would be fantastic if even one competent teacher would see this. I am in dire need, because my appointment is in about two weeks. And, of course, I do not want to blow this up!

Any real-life art teachers among us Posted October 7th, 2012 in General

I would like to take this opportunity to ask, if there are any real art teachers in this community.
The reason why I am asking this is simple: I want to become an art teacher (elementary school) and I have to give in an application portfolio with some of my works. And there are some questions I'd like to ask you, if you do not mind.

For example: Are comic artworks allowed at all? I know about the works of Roy Lichtenstein, but I do not dig this style at all.

It would be great if you would help me out in this one. Or if you would tell me, for certain, that there are no teachers at all on NG and that I have wasted my time. lol

Have a good one.

(I am German, but I am trying my best in English regardless. So if you see any mistakes, then feel free to correct me.)
