It's even worse than vocaloid. But it's really chopped up yeah.
Don Octavio from Sly 3 is also a gang lion.
Look at my new cell phone. It can even play mt3 (magnetic tape 3)

There's a lot of ways to do it, just make it smooth and endless, you know, looping.
Yes thanks. Good tip. It works sometimes. I've done it before to some songs and it gave good results. These are a bit different though. The suspense is constantly rising, so going back to the beginning is anticlimactic. To go back to a less suspenseful beginning you'd need to build in some falling action of sorts at the end of the loop. Also I can't cut of the outro, because the ending is a variation of the main melody building up to an end note. If I leave that out, halve the melody is gone at the end, which is odd. If I leave it in you'd expect an ending, when it only starts over. A lot of the instruments are live, so I can't change the notes, or I'd have to play it over again. I'll have to think it through.

Also good job on that song man, it deserves front page :) it'll be up all week, should be i think
Thanks again. I think the front page gets changed in very irregular intervals. Sometimes the songs are there for only a few days. The previous ones were there for a whole month. Four audios were there because they won a voice acting competition. I once was on the front page for a month because I placed 5th (I won't call that winning) in a competition. I was allowed to put a song on there after my own choice, so I picked one that would never have gotten there any other way. By the end of the month people really started to question what it was doing there. It would be nice if the front page got changed more regularly. Once a week on a fixed day. It would actually be nice for the people who win in this contest to get on the front page. Not a bad idea of Bosa.

If you like something it could be nice to try to make it the same way yeah. But that's not really what I meant. I meant more important than what someone says is why they say it, and when it applies. Sometimes it doesn't really apply in your situation so you have to be careful with such advice.
Well, I will agree that not every critically acclaimed band will be commercially successful.
But I don't think that any of us on Newgrounds are at the stage where we can claim that our music is just too artistic and deep for the masses. That would indicate that we were writing really intricate and complex music, and that just doesn't happen without thousands of hours of practice. Maybe someone like Kor-Rune could make that claim (because his music *is* that complex) but humans like you and me haven't gone through that process.
Maybe my examples were a little extreme. There's a lot in between Kor-Rune and Justin Bieber. Some people like a little complexity, others a lot. It's not all about complexity either. Other things that make music unique can also be a turn on/off. Take 8-bit music. That's quite popular on Newgrounds. But to the general audience not so much. I should check Kor-Rune out more. I don't think I make complex music no though I don't know what to call complex. But when I do something unusual like a 5/4 metre, a whole tone or Arabic scale (which isn't harder to write), I notice I'm losing some of my audience. That's no reason for me not to try it out though.
Now this is a funny example because if this were to happen to me, I would conclude that I was certainly wrong. After all, someone told me I executed my descent wrong. Of course, the solution doesn't have to be changing the note - it could be making the melodic minor tonality stronger, for example.
If the person who made the comment knew his stuff, making the melodic minor stronger would probably be a logical solution. Maybe my example wasn't too great. I couldn't think of anything. No one said anything like this to me. It's difficult to come up with good examples. I've had/seen stranger comments though, that I didn't at all know what to do with. Like "the dubstep isn't loud enough" in an ambient song, or the phrase "considering it's an 8-bit piece" in an orchestral song. I still claim a lot of comments don't make sense. If you don't understand what someone means by a comment(, you should ask what they mean, but before you know what they mean) you should not do anything with it I think.

"Remember: when people tell you something's wrong or doesn't work, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what's wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong." Neil Gaiman
The thing with quotes is; although someone well respected said something clever, they're not natural laws. It depends on your interpretation and the situation at hand whether they're useful. There is no absolute right or wrong in music. It all depends on taste.
I'd say the quote applies to music in such a way that when someone says they don't like a song, they're most definitely right. The question remains "how much should you care?". Like I said you can never appease everyone, so don't worry if some people don't like it. If musicians only made music the please others, every song would sound like Justin Bieber, since he's the one with the most fans. Yet there are so many people (including me) who are glad there's more obscure music out there less people like. As for the second part of the quote "When they tell you exactly what's wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong." I suppose he has a point there too. It's your work, you should know your stuff and do things your own way, not how others tell you to do it. However, the only useful comments are the ones were people tell you exactly what they don't like, and even make suggestions what to do about it. It's still however the choice of the musician to agree with the critic. For instance someone notes "This specific note there is out of key." the musician can either say "Oh yeah you're right. I didn't notice. It should of course be halve a tone higher." or "No no, that was absolutely intentional. It's the descending sixth of the melodic minor scale. It's halve a tone lower than in the natural minor to build up suspense before it dissolves into the prime." When someone makes a comment like the one I mentioned, you should question if you executed it well. But if it sounds right to you and you didn't brake any rules (or if you did but know exactly why), you should just conclude "This particular listener didn't get it. Hopefully others will.". If you get more complaints check if you shouldn't re-evaluate your decisions. Keep an open mind. Understand the rules. Choose to follow or break them. Follow your intuition.
Sorry for writing such a long text. Hope I didn't bore you.
Never mind my earlier post. The audio section is updated. More importantly, I'm frontpaged. I guess my whining has worked out very well for me hehe.

Disagreed with tip 2. You can never appease everyone. Some will like it, others don't. There's no music everyone likes. It's important you yourself are happy with what you do. If you understand what you're doing and like what you make there will be others who understand and like it as well.
You will always get conflicting criticism. Some people who don't like it know very well why and can tell you. That doesn't mean you have to agree with them and do what they say. Imagine you made a classical song you're perfectly happy about. One person says how well she likes the light hobo melody and the chord progression the blanked of strings is playing. The second person says he doesn't like the song at all, and thinks it's way to quiet. He wishes the chords were played with distorted guitars instead of that weird sounding keyboard, the flute things should be removed, and you should play an actual melody over it. Now you could change your song to a metal song to appease the second person, or you can just accept not everyone likes classic, and be happy the first person liked it.
Now I'm not saying the second person was wrong. I just say it wasn't useful. I'd say over 50% of the criticism you'll get is useless. Just read it all. Be polite to everyone who takes time to comment. Respect everyone's opinion. But in the end only follow advice you agree with.
The entire front page is full of robot stuff, except for the audio section. That still has the same stuff as a month ago. Including a removed song with a now broken link. We really are the fifth wheel of the Newgrounds community.
The front page is full of robot related work! Great! Except for the audio section... It still has the stuff that has been there for a complete month. One of the songs even has a broken link because it's been removed by the moderators. Can we have some robot day songs on the front page please, today or tomorrow?

Only one day, July 10th, but every year, so you can plan your game for next year. If you spend a lot of time on it to make a really great game, maybe you'll even win something.

Excellent.
You, like me, can only imagine my voice - let alone its tone
That's the thing with written information. Since you can't hear someone's voice a lot of information gets lost. You can't even hear whether someone's offended, or means to offend. And indeed written text (spoke as well) gets misinterpreted a lot. This is probably one of those things "everybody with a brain has already processed", but it still goes wrong all of the time. Glad it's possible to address these things without stepping on toes.

Do you think the judges would change their opinion about the three "chosen ones" at the last minute because someone suddenly decides to negotiate? I'm sorry I implied that in some ways, but I think that's just mentally deranged. My intentions were the best for him, and I only wish we get the results at some point and everybody will be happy again.
Sure your intentions were for the best. I know that. Every one knows that. And you should know I didn't mean question you. I don't think the judges will be influenced easily either. That's why I put it the lines "I don't mean to blow this out of proportion" and that I didn't want to "question some of the contestant's good intentions.". I was speaking generally. Not just about your comment. Else I would have replied to your post or PMed you. Anyhow, even good intentions could do harm under wrong circumstances. Positive discrimination for some is often negative to others. Love from the heart can turn into a scandal. A genuine gift to someone in need can be interpreted as a bribe. Etc etc. There's nothing you can do about it, except be mindful. But if your attentions are good, others (like me) shouldn't interpret them negatively. In any case don't sweat it okay?
I too could say, If I win you can keep the price money, because you're struggling with your health and finances and I don't care about the money only the fun of winning. All good points and it's also the truth. However isn't that a form of bribing?
"If I win you can keep the money." becomes "Pick me so you can keep the money."
And since the price money legitimately belongs to the winner, they are effectively giving the money away which could positively influence the decision of the judges, which is what bribery is all about.
Sorry to point this out. I don't mean to blow this out of proportion, withhold RealFaction's medication or question some of the contestant's good intentions. Just think about the implications.
So if RealFaction cannot spare the money due to his health I will understand, and I think we all do. No complaints. But if he decides to give out price money like he wants to do, I think the winners just have to accept it. If you feel bad about it, you can always donate it to the next contest, or charity, or buy your own or your family's medication, food or education. It will work out.

Relax. Just breath in, breath out. Oh, asthma joke. I'm so bad. If it makes any difference I've had asthma for years. It still acts up when I'm near horses or when there are a lot of pollen. Anyway we'll see the results when they're due. It will take some time till the next AIM anyway.
Okay, good luck with the judging. Looking forward to the album.
